And here I thought that the opaque black glue, called "goop" according to something I once read, was an essential part of making playing cards, so all the companies making quality playing cards would do that. Of course, some really cheap playing cards aren't made that way, but other major companies like Cartamundi would have to do an equivalent. Come to think of it, though, I do remember reading that Cartamundi used an opaque plastic layer between the cardboard layers instead.

The United States Playing Card Company is not only famous for the Bicycle Playing Cards, but the company is also famous for other playing card brands like Bee, Aviator, Hoyle, and specialty playing cards.

Bee has a great, casino quality stock that's thick, sturdy, and durable. Aviator, while lacking the same kind of dimpled finish as the other USPCC products, is perhaps their best-handing card: they're durable, they're slick, they shuffle and fan with a breeze. Hoyle, while nice-looking cards, have a rather thin and flimsy stock that makes them prone to bending and creasing really easily. Maverick is okay, even though I find plastic cards inferior to paper (and smellier too). Streamline is their worst.

When you walk into a playing card factory, you must present your ID to the security guard at the door. Also, you must pass a lengthy background check and you must have a good credit score to enter.

There are 52 cards and 2 Jokers in a deck of playing cards, but the 2 instruction cards are optional. You can save them or throw them away.
