Nice trucks. I priced a Dodge 4500 with the IMT bed, with 5,000 lb. IMT crane, and hydraulic air compressor for a job. $110,000. Client about fainted when I gave him the quote. I like the tackle box for the electrical connectors. We started using the individual removable tackle boxes you get from Walmart about 15 years ago for those small electrical items, o rings, small screws and fuses. You just take out the one you need for the job. They are also sealed to keep dust out of them, but I know logging jobs don't have those dust issues.

+Terry Presnal (TerrellFarms1) Yeah a good service truck with a good bed on it can get quite expensive.

We have an old Puma air compressor on our old Morbark chipper... runs like a champ. The new Morbark came with a sailor bell...won't run worth beans. Gotta love the Puma

You can never have too many tools or spare parts. I'm no mechanic but seem to get all the diagnosing and repairing work so I spent a lot of $$$ to set my private vehicle up with tools to get me by.

That hose crimper is super handy. I'm sure they have paid for them selfs over and over again. We just blew a hose on the dump trailer today probably took us 45mins to get it fixed because we had to run into town to get a new one made up. That crane has to be a back saver too.

+Skidder Kev It doesn't take long at all to pay for that hose crimper. We got our first crimper in 1993 and have made no telling how many hoses since then.

Cost big money to keep to big trucks like that, but they are worth their weight in gold when you have a break down and don't have to call out a mechanic with a truck. I am sure they have paid for themselves many times over. Nice trucks, set up real well. Take care my friend.....Darryl, AML.

Thats really interesting and seems real logical setups, Love the crane, welder and gas arrangements. Where did you manage to find a double sided lockable box like that for electrical connections? - super idea and so handy! How do you cut hydraulic hose for crimping - angle grinder with thin cutting blade?
@cotontop3
@cotontop3 9 жыл бұрын
Plano tackle box and yes a thin blade to cut the hoses with.

What model Parker crimper is the electric version? Do you reccomend it?
@LoggerWade
@LoggerWade 9 жыл бұрын
Hey man thanks a ton for sharing we've been thinking about the exact same setup!!! Two questions can the crimper do the 4 wire hoses on the 3/4" and up and also do the 2 wire hoses on 5/8 and down... Also I've wondering about a crane for ever when we go to one and your convinced that crane 100% yes then? When your a ways from home do you leave the big trucks on the job and commute with little trucks or drive the big boys back and forth too?
@cotontop3
@cotontop3 9 жыл бұрын
+Logger Wade Those parker crimpers will crimp 2 wire or 4 wire from 1/4" all the way to 1 1/14" diameter. We only buy 4 wire hose. Even if a 2 wire is on the machine and it busts, we replace it with a 4 wire. Yes on the crane, its very handy to have. When we are a ways from home, we never leave trucks in the woods, I will always load them to try to get them somewhat headed back to the shop and all trucks are parked at the shop every night.

Thanks man had to watch again... Would you advise someone to go with the big one with a cat then?
@cotontop3
@cotontop3 8 жыл бұрын
+Logger Wade it just depends. The bigger truck is a lot heavier duty but it's larger and tougher to fool with in the woods. But like the 5500 and 550 size dodge and ford you can load them out and they do good too, even with a crane.
@LoggerWade
@LoggerWade 8 жыл бұрын
+cotontop3 that's what I thought you'd say... Why the dodge instead of the ford??? Last question I promise
@cotontop3
@cotontop3 8 жыл бұрын
+Logger Wade imo ford lost it when they got away from the 7.3 liter after they had finally perfected it. Ford fuel mileage is no good, even on the new ones too and that has just turned me off on the fords.

+cotontop3 why? I've driven both the 2016 ford one ton and the dodge one ton, bothe 2016, the dodge I had to fill def about 4 times as much, and the ford man, there's no power comparison, that ford pulls like nothing else

+cotontop3 My Dodge has almost 875,000 miles on it now, but still hauls anything I put behind it while getting 18-24 mpg. If someone offered to trade me a brand new Ford for my old Dodge, I would rather have the old Dodge.
