Hey brother, I am a farmer from the state of delaware. I've always worked on my own equipment but back when I was doing it it didn't have all the electronic stuff like they do today. You are a outstanding mechanic and you've got a great attitude and are what a man is supposed to be. I really hope you continue to make videos as I have learned so much from watching your work. Don't worry about what anybody says, like you said it's easy to sit on the couch and criticize someone else's work. You just keep at it like you have been mine and everything is going to work out just great for you.

Warren, this is the first time I have ever commented on any video and I have watched quite a bit of YT. You’re a rare breed and a true inspiration. Honesty is the rarest of of all attributes and you my friend have it spare. Thank you for posting. I enjoy watching an honest man put in an honest days work. You inspire me to do the same. I worked for many years farming strawberries and got pushed out by all the things you mentioned. I continue to work for a large corporate grower shipper and I can tell you that you are spot on. Thanks again

I just stumbled across your channel this past week. Watching your videos brings back a lot of old memories. I ran a field service truck in the Klamath Fallls area about 40 years ago. Our service area was about a 200 mile radius. Got to see a lot of really beautiful country going up to mountain logging sites. The work was hard but I really enjoyed it. I am retired now but am enjoying watching your videos.

Lived in Klamath area since '93. You couldn't be more correct. Really hope it picks up for you. Aside from farming, Klamath County seems to do everything it can to run business away. There is no industey here, and for some reason, there are a lot of people that want to keep it that way. When a hospital is a countys biggest private employer we have a problem. Good luck, you're doung great work, and I enjoy watching your content.

Old school mechanic here... I understand. Big outfits are spoiled, they are used to paying in cycles, net 30, 60. As a sole proprietor, you're stuck in this game. Great video. As a native Californian I've seen our state government whittle away everything they can. Agriculture is all that's left after driving manufacturing away...and they're conservative...so the state has a bone to pick. See the problem? If these guys are so smart, which they've proven to the contrary, immigrant visas for agribusiness should have been handled decades ago. Sanctuary state? Look, I'm a simple guy. All the technology in the world just can't grow and harvest a crop. Yes, technology can help, but it takes hands on the ground and equipment. Oh, heaven forbid! It also takes irrigation. Your words are spot on. Some day California will figure it out. If they can't understand why so many are growing south of the border, they should understand that we can grow our food at home, all it takes is common sense. And they've proven this concept to be totally alien to their understanding. Oregon? Aw hell, they're a case study in why legislators can't function. These twits have no clue where the food comes from.

Warren, a perfect video of business, working for yourself, waiting for invoice payment, chasing money without falling out with the customer. After 30 years as a mobile mechanic I am now retired, do not miss the paperwork side myself. Felt guilty taking a day off or half hour to eat my lunch. Thanks for expressing your feelings honestly (I feel like its me talking), my wife is laughing whilst I show her this video and just keeps nodding when you state the facts of working for yourself.

As a former biz owner and now disabled I thank you for this vid. I was a owner operator truck driver. the FING DMV shut me down because I am over weight or fat as hell as some will say. I was top on the board for on time delivery and pic-up. After 6 years in and out of court. All while fighting depression from losing my truck trailer and biz. I get $650 a month on disability. Just deciding what biz to get into. In other words I can't stand being on disability. On the other hand I have friends that if they worked at there job as hard as they work at trying to get on disability they would probably be rich. I was disabled before the F%^*ING DMV pulled my class A licence. I worked with my disability for 10 + years.

Saw my dad go through this 55 years ago, Every Christmas he was broke because everyone that he did work for in November and December wanted him to wait until Feb. to pay him. I enjoyed working on equipment and got a job working for a oil refinery in maintenance. Good job, long hours but good pay check on time every 2 weeks, if equipment had to wait 3 months for parts so be it, we had plenty to work on. Retired early after 32 years of being with them. May have had to work many Christmas and holidays but the checks were always on time. I saw what my dad went through and what we had to go through as a family, I just said no way. With you skill of being able to work on anything, you can make way more working of a big company like a oil company without having to put up with what you are putting up with. When you are your own boss, everyone you work for and deal with is your boss because they decide when you do their work, when you get your parts, and when they get paid and last when you get paid. Good luck.

I can only speak for myself Warren. I cannot speak for anyone else. But, what I can say is from my perspective. I value your knowledge, I value your skills, I value your sense of humor. I watch this channel not for money, not for anything other than to see another episode in your day, I watch this channel for YOU because of YOU. It is the same for lots of smaller business's the bigger ones always delay in paying yet expect top rate service. You were honest in what is happening. But really, that is your personal affairs, it has nothing to do with anyone else. In saying that, I am honored that you think your community meaning us makes you feel comfortable and happy about telling us the truth and how reality is. It does not make you a weaker person, It makes you a stronger person. Thank you for everything you have done for us all in this community as realise it is a lot of work making the videos and also uploading videos etc. There will always be others who fail to do their job and create more hassles for you. I would be very surprised if that does not happen all over the world in every city... I hear you about immigration, it is the same in this country... immigration with a battery up their butt forgetting that while they are getting paid in their nice warm office farmers are struggling while someone still in nappies without any knowledge of the job or work involved in that industry makes a decision on yes or no

Come to Iowa, I have been thinking of starting my own shop here because any place you call about getting a semi worked on they tell you 30 days before they can see it. That and the John Deere dealers consolidating and changing policies, we have one around here that has a variable shop rate by how many years of experience the tech has. It is ridiculous what some of them charge for what they do. Most shop rates are up to $130 an hour around here now.

I feel ya bud...I closed my business in 2017 after 12 years. One of my big mistakes was simply that I never charged enough. I'd always tend to not charge for all the extras...I always thought I was investing in people's "Good Will" but in the end that was total BS! Just be sure you are charging what you should be. I went back to working for a dealership and I started doing the $$$ math as far as how much "Good Will" I should have in the bank. Turns out I'm busted...what a fool I was. Like you said there is a lot of overhead! There is a reason the Dealership is still in business and has been for 50+ years. And I gotta say nobody bitched about how much I charged.

That the problem I hear this from small business people all the time how these big companies just think that they can pay when ever they want I know some that have waited for 3 months for pay from schools and the government. But like you said they want their money now. And they know you need them and know you will wait because you can’t afford to lose them. The one guy from the school finally stop doing work for them he just couldn’t do it anymore. He was having to buy parts and had 30 days to pay but he would’ve to wait for 60 to 90 days to get his money so that money was not doing him any so he was out of his money during that time

Empire Cat is hiring! We need mechanics like you. You’ll get put in a newer company truck and with a maintainer service body. Over 90 openings in Arizona. Trust me I’m from Montana and I didn’t go back cause there ain’t shit for work.

Who are the people who thumb down Warren? Heck those people would thumb down their own mother. You really do educate us amateurs. Thanks as always, appreciate everything you do for us.

Well just started watching on this tube thing, seems like your a good hand, used to pull wrenches too, don't anymore,to old and broke down, pushing 80,love the work, tried other stuff in my life ,but still like the field.Well my friend for what it's worth, have to have good old hands like you to keep the iron going, let em call the dealers and let them do the work.shit they will "squall like a squashed cat"Goodness know how you feel my friend been right where you are now a few times, never could get folks to understand, you have to pay up front for all the supplies and parts and they get to wait a month or sometimes more to pay you.....Best of luck to you my friend, keep the dirt out your eyes and don't break nothing,......just and ole man......

Everyone thinks because you are in business for yourself that you are getting filthy rich. Everyone should be in business for themselves just once to learn exactly what it is all about. Dad and I had our own auto and truck repair business for 10 years. I definitely understand where you are coming. Hang in there. I appreciate your knowledge of everything and anything.

I hear your frustrations Warren. It will all work out in the end. Id like to say come farther North up to Idaho but because we are surrounded by California Washington and Oregon it's getting bad here to.

@@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353 unfortunately it is. It's a shame because it could be fixed easily if our politicians pulled there heads outta there ass. My grandpa always said politicians and Lawyers would be the ruins of this country. He didn't think he would be alive to actually see it happen. He's a WW2 vet still alive and it kills him to see what he and his brother's past and current fought or are fighting for is going to hell

I'm watching from the UK Warren and the way things are here seem to be the same as you're describing. Everything has gone crazy, no one wants to pay for work, suppliers want money immediately, fuel has soared in price.........its not easy to make a living doing what we do any more. Good luck.

Running a small business has it's ups and downs, that's for sure. I don't want to open my QuickBooks because I don't want to have to see my outstanding invoices amount right now. I swear it feels like a guy could spend as much time chasing bills as he does doing real work some times.

I have to agree with everything you said Warren. I'm from the midwest and the general opinion in this part of the country is that we would be MUCH better off if all of California broke off and slid into the ocean. I do have to wonder though why you had to pay $300 for a DOT number? When I got mine, I went on line , filled out a form and bam,,, I had it. Zero cost. Hang in there.

Thanks for the rank. I know it must be tough and I feel for you. I hope that everything works out for you. It is tough when state regulations and total bull shit makes you want to move. It is the same situation here in Pennsylvania. It is like they just want to stick it to you.

I know how you feel I’m in burns or and we have no mechanics here. All of the owners operators have moved to Ontario or or Boise lot more work in that area. I cut a finger off this winter and its been fun trying to get some one to help me get all of my equipment ready for season. So I know how you deal. I hope it gets better for you
