Another thing about P5 is that the Phantom Thieves don't know exactly what went wrong as Okumura was killed after they left the Palace so they have no idea who framed them

Awesome video! Another big part of P5's plot that I love was that the antagonists dont just use the publicity to frame them as killers, but they also use the publicity and boost it to get them to go after Okumura.

Or standing at the door barely hearing the conversation and getting the misunderstanding that way. But at least they stayed to the end.

I think P5 does this trope the best out of any story, at the point where it's invoked the Phantom Thieves have strayed from why they started as the group of hidden vilglanties in the first place. They've gotten drunk off the fame and attention and decide to go after Okurmura purely to boost their reputation, falling right into the big bad's trap. The Phantom Thieves bring their bad reputation on themselves because they lost sight of what justice means to them.

This is the best video I have seen in my entire life, and I have seen "Persona 5 Royal but it's explained by John Mulaney"

One of the best parts of the poorly written Okumura palace is how well it sets up more status quo just to completely destroy it when Okumura dies and all of a sudden your jettisoned into the endgame and lots of things change

Oh yeah definitely. This trope can be used incredibly well, and can add some great tension and stakes to a plot. This is mostly just an analysis of what Persona 5 did that helped the trope feel like it had a definitive place in the story, and how it avoided the "we need a new threat... this will do, I guess" sort of feel. And thanks so much for the examples! I'll check those out!

Have to disagree on the Avengers thing since tony stark alone is like solely responsible for a double digit number of super villains and at least one threat to the world.
@IntoThePlot11 ай бұрын
That's a good point. There definitely were some interesting internal conflicts from Tony Stark in that movie about the damage the Avengers had caused. I feel like, for me personally, the main conflict of Civil War would've been stronger if it focused more on that aspect, rather than the collateral damage of dealing with the threats/villains they created.

@@IntoThePlot Maybe, I personally don't know much about that/don't have many ideas into that direction because in my opinion the mcu has way too many problems anyway hoth ideologically and thematically/consistency wise. But that is to be expected with companies that big behind it and something that big.
