Outside of of a small but loud minority, ff14 players don't really care if you skip. However, they do care if you skip everything and then start talking trash about the story. And I believe that's fair 😆

Aby reasonable player will never hold it against you for skipping cutscenes in ARR, it can be a slog at times. However if you start skipping in Heavensward? Your excuse better be that you didn't know HW is where it matters if you skip.

I have met quite a few, particularly among the story/lore fans, who will joke about it but it is usually pretty tongue in cheek. It is just you sometimes get people who take the game WAY too seriously. My biggest annoyance is when someone who skips finds out I am a lore fan and wants me to sumarise the entire story from the start of ARR through to the end of HW for them. I mean seriously? Summarise probably at least 100 hours of story in a few minutes in a way that would make the current plot more understandable?

Honestly you can skip most of ARR's slow ass story and still understand everything *ESPECIALLY* the 1.x stuff . I used to watch the cutscenes but skipped the random dialogues But from heavensward onward most of it is good (except maybe some parts in Stormblood). And if you skip then, and don't start getting invested in the story you'll probably not have the motivation to go through all of the extensions

for the people who don't get what the carbuncle gpose means : Third party tools let you swap an entity for another one, but you actually still need one to be there to replace it (and for some reason pets don't work for it). So a carbuncle or fairy are typically the go-to when you wanna take a screenshot with another character or NPC. so it have seen and did "things"

Said third-party tool also lets you do poses you can't do in the game, meaning that the range of "things" you can do is almost infinite, provided you also have the right amount of entities for what you wanted to make. For example... you can have a Carbuncle become Y'shtola and make her do said "things" with either you, or anyone/thing else, and maybe add, I don't know... the Ultima Weapon in the background? At least, it doesn't just apply to NSFW. Besides the "things", you can do some cool shit using this tool, like replicating scenes from your favorite movies, shows or video games. Wish I was skilled with it or had the patience to learn it, would've done way cooler Gpose screenshots of my clears.

@@KrazzeeKane I think it's a shame because Preach disliked base Stormblood a lot as well, and post-Stormblood onwards does get great, with Shadowbringers having that dark edge that I honestly think would be way into Asmon's preferred style. Even I will admit there was at least one or 2 custcene I skipped in Stormblood because the pre-doma castle half drags so long.

Pints video was great! I am a sprout and for the most part I have been focused on completing main quest story, however I did take a break to "socialize once." I beat titan and decided I wanted to try the more social aspect of the game so I went to Limsa Lominsa and started to pet EVERYTHING in sight. If I saw a companion I pet it, see a Lalafell pet them, and if I see an afk pet/poke them. I made a few friends doing this it was rather effective. I made friends with a Hrothgar who was telling me he has lost his pride as a warrior being pet by me. I also made friends with an Afk Hyur when I poked them while afk only for them to come back later and poke me.

If Asmon never plays FFXIV again, I'm still glad he did it. A lot of people wouldn't have given it a shot if not for him, though I will be sad. It would be like if someone stopped playing WoW just after Ahn Qiraj. Shadowbringers is the WotLK of FFXIV, and it would be a shame if Asmon never sees it. C'est la vie.🙂

I joined a guild full of some of the best gaming buddies I've ever made, made memories that will last me a lifetime, played one of the best stories on a video game I've ever played and definitely one that I was most emotionally invested in. The requirements for "sprout" apparently goes up with each expansion. I recently lost mine after completing Endwalker. I was waaaaay past the 300 hour mark, so that one is either gone or increased dramatically.

I was playing wow last night and a new player in Boralus approached me and asked where he can get a flying mount. I told him to follow and took him to the SW trainer, then gave him a little gold to help him along with bags etc. Honestly, it was one of the most wholesome things I've experienced in wow in many years. If new players were flagged, I think a lot of people would happily go above and beyond to help them out and hopefully keep them playing.

I've been watching Asmon for over a year before he started playing FFXIV. I actually didn't tune into streams or watch the highlight videos until I heard that the game sold out and decided to catch up. I started waking up early to tuned in to watch streams live from the beginning. It was probably the most joy I have had watching Asmon and I looked forward to every stream. I think my favorite moment was when Asmon stopped to listen to a bard playing Sea Shanty2. It was surreal watching a WoW player playing FFXIV listening to another player play Runescape music in game. It was so great. Now I have 2864 hours in FFXIV, I want Estinien to stab me. and I just want Alberic to be happy damnit.

I was a sprout of almost 3 years with close to 1000 hours because before I got to shadowbringers, endwalker came out and I then the sprout cap was raised obviously... and also... I finished most of the optional content from ARR, HW, SB and SHB before even tackling Endwalker... and I became an Omnicrafter... and stuff.

Actually now that I think about it, Asmon's playing it smart. Other people who joined in 2021 played FFXIV constantly, and now some are taking breaks or burnt out for awhile. If he intends to return, Asmon won't suffer that effect and can march on through Stormblood and maybe Shadowbringers. Then take another break for a bit, to enter Endwalker and the expansion that will have released by then. All while being able to maximize joy while minimizing burn

My friend was trying to get me into the game. And basically guided me to speed run it as fast as possible. So I was instructed to skip all the story being told it was just a basic story and doesn’t matter. And did no exploring through the game. Just main quests till I hit 68 then got bored of doin nothing but main quests I was also told to be a black mage for my first class.

The Mentor Program was abused in Elsword until it got removed. You would camp at the sprout spawn point, where they come right after the introduction cutscene, and you will know they're sprouts by their level, as anyone (lv25+) can send a mentor application to that player, that is displayed in the middle of the screen, and since they don't know what it is, or why it doesn't go away, they eventually click ok, and from that point on, you merely have to wait for your three sprouts to reach level 10 to redeem your hard-earned reward for being first to right-click and invite into a senpai/kouhai relationship.

I have over 600 hours in the game currently. I was a sprout until I took a break that was longer than 45 days. I was in the process of completing the Stormblood MSQ. Once I returned, I was a "Returning Adventurer", for about a week. After a week, I was, and still am, a sprout again.

Still hope for a day Asmon may return to FF14, may never come, but I still hope. While it's fun to see his reaction on the story (especially Shadowbringers and beyond I was looking forward to) cause he's generally not seen as the "story guy" so it's fun to hear his takes and opinions, I think what I wanted the most was to see him do the trials and raids. He only got to Heavensward ones, and I'd say it's not until Stormblood they genuinely start picking up and becoming truly awesome. Then Shadowbringers and beyond is a whole different cake. The feeling you get from the raids and boss battles are so different from WoW despite the games being fairly alike, and imo out of all my years raiding in WoW, the FF14 ones just end up more memorable and exciting, and from seeing Asmon do the ones he did so far, he'd love the later stuff.

On the topic of kind of rushing through - skipping cutscenes and boosting - as someone that doesn't have much time to put into the game but really wanted to play through it with my friends who had a lot more I would skip cutscenes and even boosted about halfway through ARR to catch up to them. After I beat shadowbringers which was the most recent at that time - I went back when I had time and just found the cutscenes on youtube and story stuff to watch. Personally I would recommend playing for the story as the few times I had the luxury to do it it was a lot more fun, however I think skipping cutscenes and boosting is fine for people whoa re limited on time and want to play as much as they can.

As a born again sprout who stop playing back in 2016, i think i have an excuse to skip the cut scenes. atleast untill stormblood . Given i started playing ff14 when it was at its first beta back in 2010 and stopped playing in 2016. Now that im back and barley going through the reborn story i still remember every cut scene its crazy how much this game had a hold on me and my two brothers back then. Sadly had to start from scratch becasue my old chracater was under my older brothers square enix account, now that hes married with children he basicly is a proper adult with lots of responsibilities that he forgot his square enix account. Also its crazy how much the game has changed. in a good way.

I think it's fair to skip cutscenes, but then you're just blazing through the content without any care for 90% of what it is you're doing. All these cool duties and trials feel way cooler when you know why they're happening. I do think it's hard to sit through the ARR story because of how slow it is, and how it is simultaneously the least and most important story. Least because it is the most straightforward plot where barely any characters get that much depth, but most because it lays the foundation for the world. Post ARR is fine, though.

FYI to lose sprout status you have to complete Shadowbringers and get to level 80. The game play hours have nothing to do with it.

Haha, I have been greenblood till level 90 and quite a bit after. It went away after I finished the MQ, but I did extrem content as sproud and that made all the struggle in the MQ a walk in a park
