Comment on Vets: took my (beloved) Chihuahua to two separate vets in Denver and received the news that she had days at most to live and needed surgery. Estimates (bottom with no extras e.g. bloodwork) $3,600 - $2,950. Luckily we were leaving for our house in Montana and I called the "good old boy" vet (in Mt. and) got her in the day we arrived. These vets see/do it all....with blood work and surgery just under $400. And for excellent care. She's sitting here on the couch fit and good as ever. Do yourself and your pet a favor DONT GO TO STRIP MALL VETS. I'm sure every state has a good 'ole boy country vet within a short drive. Thanks, appreciated.

About 5 years ago my dog that was 16 years old couldn't stand without losing his balance. I was a total mess because he almost felt like a family member. When I brought him to the vet it was terrible because I thought they would want to put him down due to his age. Surprisingly the vet never mentioned putting him to sleep at all and prescribed him daily steroids. After 2 days my dog was walking normally again and I have always thought highly of that vet clinic since. He lived another year and a half even though he was on a daily pill. I fully understand the pain of losing an animal that's close to the family. I hope your dog makes a full recovery.

Bill bellichik did this to himself though. There are reports that teams wanted him for defensive coordinator, including Kyle shanahan. I’m sure other teams would have been fine with him as head coach. But he wanted to be the GM too and that’s what teams didn’t want. So it’s bill’s own fault

The bears have gotten better and have a guy they believe in at QB and not some running back playing QB! KAPESH!

1st - every dog owner MUST have pet insurance. Dogs should be taken for medical checkups twice a year and at least one dental cleaning yearly. Most dogs will need veterinary or hospital care at least a handful of times throughout their lives. 2nd - ER vets do the jobs of four doctors, have to be extra credentialed to help any animal that comes in, work crazy hours, and often pick up shifts to help at hospitals after their regular gig at their practice because there is a severe lack of vets in the US. As you keenly observed, animals can't talk, and animals usually hide their illnesses as a survival tactic. Thus, a vet must run every test and scan to diagnose and find a root cause from only what they can originally gleam through surface-level examinations. On top of this, most vets have to perform the tests themselves and diagnose X-rays independently as they don't have radiologists or a dedicated lab with lab techs. You also have to factor in housing an animal at the clinic, with 24/7 observation, animal cleaning, and treatment of the animal; if the patient were a human and not an animal, there would be nurses to do that work, and a patient would let the nurses know if something was up. Suppose you factor in all of the intensive care, expertise, scans, tests, medicine, overhead costs for the hospital, and additional staff. In that case, an animal emergency hospital is exceedingly priced fairer than a human hospital.

Vets charge a lot yes since they have a long laborious pipeline to get to their practice. And yet your house, 60k car, and maybe even your kids won’t love you as much as that dog. That said, spending a lot on older dogs is really a tough call. Some breeds have very short lives no matter the healthcare.

You are taking what Mike Florio and Chris Simms out of context, they never said what Tua said wasn't true or shouldn't have said it because it was not a "nice thing to say", they were specifically questioning the label "terrible person" which is beyond a professional setting. The examples Tua said about Flores never went beyond him in his position as a coach in dealing with him as a player - that's a professional setting and interactions, yet his label extended to him as a person. You saying Chip Kelly is a "bad guy" at 30:02 can still be boxed in a professional setting as in "bad guy at his job dealing with staff", but as soon as you say "bad person" then you take it beyond. Firing and not liking personnel is part of the job, it doesn't make Chip or any one else a "bad person", so if you want to put that label on Chip you better have specifics of what makes him a bad person that goes beyond him being a coach and dealing with staff. People handle firing staff or dealing with coworkers in a bad way still only makes them bad at their job, not a bad person.

Regarding Tua/Flores - There's a lot of revisionist history going on here. Remember when Fitz was leading the team and the team was responding and doing well only for Flores to be told mid-season to pull Fitz and put in Tua? Do you also remember how bad Tua performed and how often he got yanked? Do you remember Tua admitting afterwards that he didnt take the season seriously as he should have and didnt even know the playbook? So if I was Flores, Id be pretty pissed too at having to babysit the Golden Child while watching the QB you told during preseason that he would be getting his first shot as a veteran to lead a team before yanking that away from the guy.

Any argument you could make defending Flores, and there’s validity in some of your points, but all of it is negated by the fact that not a single player, other than his current team, has come out in defense of him. If some former player had called Tomlin or Andy Reid “a terrible person” there would be dozens of players vouching for him. But with Flores it’s crickets. That honestly speaks louder than any media generated point.

The reason vet medicine looks expensive is because there is no insurance to cover it. Look what your insurance covers. Also clinics are expensive to run. Have to pay for: 1. The building 2. Insurance 3. Utilities 4. Vet techs 5. Vets 7. Front staff 8. Inventory 9. Taxes. 10. Equipment Vets are making 120k-200k Techs are making 40-60k Front staff is making minimum wage Insurance is ridiculous Materials are expensive Equipment cost regularly over 100k Rent or mortgage on a building is alot Then most owners are vets and are paying off a 300k student loan.

I tire of the talking heads going on and on about how much players "have to make because their career is short." It's nonsense. None of us have guarantees in our live or our careers. And are you going to tell me that 30 years at an average pay rate of the average American (which would equal less than $1.5 million) is better because "they have longevity?" Please.

Must be a 49ers fan. Were you given a lot of participation awards growing up whilst at school?

@@RyanChuck-fz4jj I'm a strong capitalist, actually. But even in my business (my own) I constantly do tradeoffs between quality of life and quantity of money. And there are other factors; I might make more money (or save money) in a less desirable place to live. My point is when the talking heads simply talk about making the most money possible, that ignores so many other factors. Like, for example, playing on a high quality NFL team almost surely gives you more options to make money beyond your base salary. Aiyuk, like many in the NFL these days, seem to be stuck on "who is making the most base salary!"

@John Middlekauff - There is a shortage of vets, at least where Im at but yes, the cost that Vets charge is absolutely insane and we all know that they're marking prices upthrough the roof because they know it's essentially holding a gun to our family member's head and blackmailing us to pay the fees or else. I really hate to say it that way but we need to re-examine how vets work as I cant imagine anyone on the Left or the Right on the political aisle would be opposed of creating some sort of system that benefits animals so they get the treatment that they need at a reasonable cost. Right now, this is ripe for abuse. (I think I paid 3500 or so for surgery for my Cat during Covid, so I completely understand where you're coming from and best of luck with the Dog.)

I have 2 dogs love them dearly and pay the vet when needed. Why in the world would people who don't have pets have to pay for my dogs and your cat?

I have no issue with pet costs. This isn’t health insurance or car insurance where you basically need those things for your daily life. No one actually “needs” a pet. It’s a voluntary thing you take upon yourself
