@Turtle Spirit 142 Oh please! India said it won't export wheat to only the rich countries that are hoarding food grains amid the global shortage and inflation, while it WILL CONTINUE to provide aid to countries that are vulnerable and actually in need. The new measures are only to REGULATE wheat export, since it is unfair for Indians having to pay higher than usual, despite India having sufficient harvest to sustain herself, while the countries that CAUSED the war in Europe, leading to this shortage want to BLAME INDIA for the global rise in prices. You like to conveniently downplay the West's role in being the root cause for the same, as China continues to haord *50%* of the GLABAL reserves of Wheat and *70%* of that of Corn. With the possibility of a delayed monsoon in India, it's only fair the government puts its own country's food security over the rest, having a population of 1.39 billion isn't a joke.

@@marvisjames6935 Only issue with the increase in demand, usually results in an increase of administrative costs and costs for expanding their factories. Because the people on top of the business want to become a millionaire/billionaire as fast as possible. Not exactly sure how businesses work financially in India (if they follow IFRS), but for the rest of the world, a corporation always finds a way for themselves to profit first and drain the life of everything around them. Its usually when there is competition when it will result in lowered costs to the consumers. And that is only if another business lowers their costs first, hoping to offset their sales with volume.

Our family uses compostable wood cutlery due to the fact that total price for a GIANT 400+ Piece set is about $17.00 vs 15 for plastic. Thankfully atleast urban cities like Gurgaon here in India, have seen a huge increase in the demand for these sugarcane plates. Although they are 2x the price of plastic plates ( atleast I found the price to be double here ) they are 10x more durable than thermocol plates. It is also very common in India to find old-fashioned clay cups being used for chai [the milky tea they sell from stalls in all streets] and palm leaves still being used as disposable plates in some restaurants to reduce plastic waste. BTW - good to see Jamaica in the India News with the Indian President's visit - I was sending an email about it to my Jamaican-born plumber friend Dave Holness [here in the London] a few days back - as he had done some work for me last week - what I did not realise that the Jamaican PM is also called Holness.

Better Business Models like these will hopefully be inspiring for other people in their country. The country I'm in should also put their hard work into these types of things too. Just because it's less expensive is short sighted. We need to actually buy the more logical products. Not only is buying cheap a bad habits for products like these but going cheap on yourself with cheap food will also be harmful to your body. I know this is easier said than done but if we all take steps to slowly change our bad habits we can make a difference. Like stop buying cheap plastic drinks. It's super hard for sure but every little bit will help and hopefully be inspiring for anyone else in your circle of friends and family Gives me hope for the future of the planet and the next generation if we can really do this!

We need more of this innovation to curb our reliance on cheap plastic items and packaging. Until we find a way to responsibly manage plastic waste, we must throw everything we have into businesses like these. If we tax plastic goods, raising the price above these ecological biodegradable containers, trays, and packaging, consumer will choose the less expensive biodegradable option. Plastics are hugely profitable. Creating and adding a 50% tax on them will help to reduce consumption, force manufacturers to innovative and transition to environmentally friendly products, and provide tax revenue to use towards consumer education, recycling programs, and provide grants to new start ups making more excellent biodegradable products from crop waste. We can never eliminate plastics. We need plastics in the modern world. The goal is to reduce our use (consumption) of plastic goods and find solutions to deal with the overwhelming amount of plastics piling up on land and clogging our rivers, lakes, and oceans. The problem is so great we are now eating plastics embedded in the food we consume. Everything from livestock to seafood.....is contaminated with plastic. Consuming food tainted with plastics had been linked to the alarming increase in diseases in all age groups. Plastics breaking down in the sun on land turn into microscopic particles we inhale. These particles get imbedded in our lung, then into our bloodstream where the chemicals are absorbed by the body. Burning plastics is even more toxic to those living in the region as they inhale millions of particles and chemicals with every breath. We're still trying to calculate and pinpoint how certain types of plastics and the method in which our bodies absorb or consume them causes or increases the chance of certain types of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diseases affecting the lungs. We do know children living near where plastics are burned on a regular basis (excluding modern trash incinerating power plants) have a much shorter life expectancy due to various cancers, lung impairment, and other diseases which ultimately cause premature death. As is typically the case in every country it is the poor who are most affected. Plastics contain thousands of chemicals. These chemicals react with once another when burned or allowed to interact together while slowly decomposing. We simply can't say how toxic landfills will be in a hundred, two hundred, or even four hundred years from now. Hopefully, we will be mining plastics from landfills in a hundred years once we've run out of oil. Cheers!
