Cute video -- lots changed in 6 years -- now looking at getting a 2024 Niro PHEV which can go full EV for 33 miles, which is what I drive in about 3-4 days/week. 🙂

Question; for the auxiliary 12v battery, Would a LiFe-Po4 be a good fit as a replacement for the car's lead-acid battery?

A question about plug in hybrid car: Once you exceed the mileage range that is provided by charging a plug in hybrid car, does the car start behaving like a self charging hybrid, or does it only use the gas engine, from that point onwards, till you plug it in to charge it again ?
@draytonmotorsgroup3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question John, once the electric range has been used, the car does act just like a normal self charging hybrid.

@@draytonmotorsgroup I am thinking to replace my old Golf IV from 2002 when it dies (for a 20 year old car it holds up suprisingly well)i am aiming for plug in since ev infnrastructure in my country is almost non exist. Not sure what car brand yet but i am aiming for plugin. In Wroclaw big city, we have only 3-4 charging station and its not working frequently due to errors / problems.

@@draytonmotorsgroup So technically, does that mean the car does not have to be plugged into an external charging station for it to re charge?

What happens if the battery is full empty? can we still keep driving with Petrol? then what would be the chnage in Fuel Economy?
@dMq924 жыл бұрын
It never goes full empty. When you can't drive only on electric mode then car drives like hybrid and its self charge during driving

@@vaskok70 I assume you can never use the fuel engine alone, however using only electric motors is possible when it’s fully charged externally. Correct me if I’m wrong.

What’s The Difference Between Plug In Hybrid And Electric Vehicle Charging What’s The Charging Difference
@zaneverovati Жыл бұрын
I am surprised noone's answered You so far. Electric vehicles are charged on either AC or DC chargers - AC chargers usually deliver up to 7.2 kW, whereas DC chargers can, depending on the car's maximum allowed input, and the charger's maximum output, take anything between 50kW - 350kW. While charging on DC chargers is much faster, it does mean that the battery capacity (therefore maximum range on full charge) deteriorates over time. A Plug-in usually has less than 20kW battery (in the case of Ioniq PHEV, the battery is 8.9 kW) - whereas the batteries in the fully electric vehicles tend to be over 50kW, depending on the manufacturer and the trim spec. Good day.
