The chinese man wielding knife still got time to roam around taunt and scare the citizen living that area. Luckily theres few civilian brave enough able to stop that chinese man wielding knife. Singapore needs more guns and even more people to carry guns. Total Defense is just a fluke if Singaporeans do not even have the rights to bear arms. All law abiding citizens must have the right to carry arms if they so choose to own a gun. If not a fire arm, then minimally a non-lethal gun.

I'm absolutely with you and agree. In this instance I thought the SPF people who were there did great, and got the hostage safely secured while taking the offender out without lethal force. However, that is not always possible, so citizens must be able to own and carry whatever tools they deem necessary for their own protection and even that of others. I'll close with this final thought. Yes, I am in the US and have the above rights entrenched in our Constitution. But this is not the only country where citizens enjoy the right to carry a firearm for protection without having to show a specific "need" to do so. The Czech Republic is one. Singapore would be a good addition to the list.

SPF officers are incompetent and overestimated their own capabilities. First, ASP Chew thought he was "building rapport" with the criminal, but his body language was fidgety and that was causing more tension. He failed to deescalate and keep the situation calm. A failure as a hostage negotiator. CPL Yang was selfless and committed as an NSF, but why was he giving the interview off a script? He was obviously directed on what to say, showing his lack of courage and honesty. The only police who is a professional was 3 SGT Mohd. He had great situation awareness and clear on his objective to save the victim. In conclusion, SPF is an unprofessional police force and Singaporeans cannot rely fully on them to provide security. Singaporeans need to campaign for more rights to self defense. They need more legal right to self defense and ability to use greater force. Finally, the right to bear arms must be the ultimate agenda. Singaporeans must have the right to bear arms to protect their own life. liberty, and property.
