Porsche sales were based upon its flat 6 … throw in great reliability and the fact many ‘old 911s are still in regular use it’s possibly why many choose a Porsche over a Ferrari or Lamborghini …. Its usable . But the EU ignores all that history and forced every car manufacturer to become an EV builder , so even ignoring the poor range issues, no one street charging etc the question then comes to mind of what exactly does Porsche actually ‘know’ about building electric engines ??? Fact is very little if truth be known as just like EVERY other car maker all they have is their own research and development to go by … so as a customer I’m no longer purchasing a car with a long history so why would I invest £250,000 on something that with latest figures has a depreciation off the scale , no actuall usable range , something that means every trip involves queues to recharge it at a cost on par with my old petrol equivalent …. Nope I’m sorry but Porsche like any other EV manufacturer have been forced into a corner by the EU not of their making and with no actual demand , I feel for them but this is simply very poor government ( the EU) and with very little uptake sadly most car plants will come to a close

About 50% of the Porsche driving experience is the excellence of its combustion engine. EVs are white goods. Do you get emotionally attached to your fridge or toaster?

yes , to my fridge😂❤

Have no experience of driving an EV or any modern screen driven car but "legacy" motor manufacturers need to develop and sell what paying customers will buy. EVs are nowhere near that, ICEs and possibly hybrids are exactly that. Leave the EVs for the virtue signallers who have no understanding of how their new EVs are wrecking the planet far more than ICEs can, and are rich enough (or stupid enough) to swallow 50% loss in value over 3 or 4 years.

If it doesn't hae a flat six cylinder engine it is NOT a Porsche.

There are many wise decisions a good CEO should be making for an iconic car manufacturer such as Porsche. Unfortunately, without a steady source of moderately priced energy to run its light, medium and heavy industries, there's little chance for German industry (Porsche included) as a whole to compete successfully in the international arena. You can thank your politicians for the turmoil, Germany.

In one sentence you mention the "rapidly growing EV market". The very next sentence you tell us customers are reluctant to buy EV's. Which is it?
@warringtonminge41673 сағат бұрын
The only thing that's "rapidly growing" in the EV market is the number of EVs being preregistered (so that the manufacturer avoids punitive fines) and then parked up on a disused airfield for a couple of years until they're scrapped or sold off as "used" at less than half price. This lie conflating registrations and sales is part of the EV fraud perpetrated on car buyers.

The only thing growing in the EV market is the number of *registrations* of EVs (to avoid the manufacturers paying punitive government fines for quota violations) of EV cars that are then parked on disused airfields until they can be scrapped or sold off as used at half or less of the list price. The EVangelists claim these phoney registrations as if they are sales (which they aren't) perpetuating the green fraud committed on the genuine car buying public.

NIO's idea of rapid battery change is already dead, but their spots car designs, and concepts make a great foundation for a fresh brand. Buy NIO shell and build on that.

When I think of Porsche I think of beautiful combustion engine not rubbish EV's. Porsche needs to stop focusing on EV's and EV motorsport e.g. Formula E. Porsche needs to get back to beautiful combustion engine e.g. Boxer flat 6.

Yep....Porsche.need to get rid of EV'S if not....if not they'll be going bankrupt

Government's need to keep net zero to themselves leave manufacturing out of it and stop fining companies for not selling enough EV cars because 90% don't won't them because there life span is probably only 10 years max the range is too short takes to long to charge too heavy. Also I can fill my car up in less than 3 minutes the on my way for 500+ miles. So unless EV's can do 500+ miles on a single charge and be charged in less than 5 minutes we are not interested.
@atanacioluna2922 сағат бұрын
Legacy car makers were caught flat-footed. Vw/ Porche should start a new brand exclusively for EVs. They should expand their partnership with XPENG to develop truly top of the line sports EV's. Let ICEs die a dignified end. The change is accelerating faster than the old timers can accept. Hip
