So we’re just gonna forget that the B-52, AKA BUFFY the Forehead Slayer, is still in service, having preceded the F-15 by over 20 years? As is the F-16, introduced only 4 years after the F-15, and the Black Hawk, introduced only 5 years after the F-15? Also the AIM-9 Sidewinder has been in service for even longer and this year, 2024, marks its 60th year in service.

There’s always room for improvement on certain vehicles, but after a point, you must move along. Think of it as ships. You could spend millions renovating old WW2 carriers to operate with Mid-Cold War jets and stuff like that… Or you could build a brand new class that will last even longer Same concept applies to the Bombers and air tankers of the AF. The KC-135 is older than the people flying by a long shot. But it is not only reliable, but refined. The B-52 has been improved but also works with newer aircraft taking advantage of new technology(B-1, B-2, B-21)

A huge number of those F-15C’s just underwent a program called “ReWire,” which replaced all of the aging wiring and weapons systems with what was essentially F-15E wiring and controls. It was one of my jobs at Robins Air Force Base and we are all incredibly proud of our work on the more than 125 planes. These EX variants will likely be replacing the aircraft with the highest flight hours or ones with excessive G’s.

The F15 is basically one of the best 4th gen Fighters of all time. It was created because a false scare from the Russians Mig 25s. Which the Americans thought, was The Soviets new super fighter that was incredible and incredibly fast. This scared the pants off of those in the Pentagon, so they immediately started a new fighter program to counter this new plane. This led to the F14, F15 and F16 series of planes. The reason why F15s and F16s are still used, because they are great at what they do. Their very cheap and easy to maintain, and can support the more expensive F-35s and F-22s. So the US have a mix of the very best and the cheap mass produced as well.

The f15 doesn't need stealth when it can literally shoot missiles at you before it even comes within detection range. The f15 is the sniper of the sky, due to its powerful Radar package and power plant, being able to outrun or intercept damn near anything and get kills beyond visible range and radar range of its targets. Stealth fighters reduce radar signature to get close and kill, the f15 uses its powerful Radar to see the enemy first and kill. I've even had some f22 pilots complain about getting locked by a couple f15s but it doesn't happen often.

The F15EX would probably fly when and where there are few enemy planes to be expected. Except maybe for when and if they are needed to shoot down a "saturation attack" by bombers of an opposing air force. It`s highly unlikely that a group of F-22s and/or F-35s will encounter so many opposing planes that they will run out of missles. If you expect a lot of enemy aircrafts in the area, you send more than 2 stealth fighters.

Fun fact about the F-15. It's so fast for it's size that it doesn't actually need to generate lift. It has a greater than 1 thrust to weight ratio, meaning that it generates enough thrust to counteract both the drag of the airframe and the force of gravity. If you don't know anything about aircraft, that is completely insane.

I heard the EA-18G Growlers, lead aircraft on a strike mission, because, all they do, is, jam radars, and they can also destroy them. I heard they could, also hear the conversation, of the radar operators. But the F-15E Strike eagle supposedly doesn’t need anyone to lead it, since it has electronic warfare, itself. So there's different kinds of electronic warfare. The EX gets a pretty cool suite. But the Growlers have multiple jammers, more electronic power to them. And I've heard if you get a formation of two or three that they can triangulate an enemy radar signal precisely enough to fire a HARM without actually seeing nor detecting the radar with traditional sensors like radar or thermal imaging. They each play a role.

LOL @ This American rubbish... Look up every plane shot down by an F-15? And you'll find none had anything offensive and little defensive, many without even a basic radar? So the truth is, you'd be absolutely stunned if the F-15 didn't shoot everyone of them down. These Americans know absolutely nothing at all about their own military aircraft, let alone anyone else's. For example, we read them all endlessly claiming the F-22, is so much better than the "Russian rubbish"? Only whenever they're asked what any of them have ever seen the F-22 actually do, (other than flying over a beach on a KZbin Video), that would allow them to hold that opinion? None of them can ever answer that? So again, all they actually prove, is they're basing their own opinion on a whole lot of nothing. So, what is it all about? It's that stupid assumption we always see from them all, (with their endless propaganda claims, that they can't ever back up with a single fact). And none of them have ever even asked themselves the most obvious, and most important, questions?, like how their own stealth fighters can detect, track, or target any other stealth aircraft from BVR? They're all CLUELESS about this question, but the facts are actually obvious! The reality is nothing at all like they all think, as the obvious facts are, (that seemingly none of them even understand) is, that stealth alone, defeats high-frequency (short wave), radar, by absorption and deflection. But it does NOT defeat low-frequency (long wave), radar. To detect, track, and target other stealth aircraft from BVR, you must have long-wave radar, (but it must also be enhanced), to remove all background clutter for targeting purposes. Well, clearly, neither the APG-77 radar, used in the F-22, or the APG-81 radar, used in the F-35, can detect any other stealth aircraft from BVR, an obvious fact, the US Air force will be fully aware of. Only it seems the reality is, that when the F-35 radars were being designed 13 years ago, there weren't any other stealth aircraft to think about as a potential threat! So, how can anyone possibly see these US stealth aircraft as any sort of real threat to either Russia or China?, (who both have these US stealth aircraft technically beaten today)? They can detect, track, and target the US stealth jets from BVR, yet the US stealth jets can't even detect them from BVR? Result = A pretty obvious one.

Chocked and grounded, that was about all they'd let me do, but I did get to walk around with the crew.

Just wait until the NGAD platforms are up and running… A LOT of the initial systems we will see on that fighter are being sorted out now in the F-35, B-21, RQ-180, and even one or two F-22’s and F-117’s (more than just the reflective anti-IRST/RAM coatings). The Eagle II’s EPAWS is going to go through one or two more iterations before it’s big brother comes standard on NGAD. The new AN/APG 85 radar that is going into the next bloc of F-35’s will also be bog standard on the first run of NGAD. Knowing how the USAF likes to take that High/Low approach to operations, the thought that the latest F-35’s are going to be the LOW side of that equation is mind blowing.

@Typexviiib

@@floopyc1428 the f15e does all those things and costs significantly less than the f35. The big costs associated with the f15 are attempts to cram 2022 tech into a 1970s airframe that was never intended for that stuff. It's pretty telling that the airframe itself is roughly comparable to the f35, it's only when you fit the targeting pods, ew equipment, and other modern suites that the f15ex jumps 30 million in price. The electronic upgrade package alone is 1/3 the price of an entire f35(that has all that stuff carried by default internally.
@samgus2000
@samgus2000 Жыл бұрын
I'm mean the main cost of planes is the service hour costs of the plane and f15ex needs a fraction of the service time per flight hour of the f35 so in the long run the f35 costs more. And the f35 is slower becuase if it went faster than its top speed the R.A.M. (radar absorbent material) would begin to boil.

I would love for them to update the A10 but congress is full of old fucks that only look at numbers and lobby donations so they want to replace it with the f35, which can't possibly perform the same mission with nearly as much effectiveness. The A10 is an anti everything gun with wings and a couple turbo jets attached to it. The fuselage and landing gear is literally built around the gun, so that it can be on the centerline for accuracy. You can't fill the role of the "flying armored close support delete button" our soldiers love to hear/see coming with a jet like the F35. It is way too fast and the ordnance is nothing any other plane can't release at the ground. The A10 is great because it flies low and slow, giving the pilot all the time he needs to delete whatever his cross hairs are pointed at,vis armored and redundant enough for the confidence to take hits, make it home, and still fly out for another sortie. Sorry, that ain't happening on those fancy F35s.

But the F-35A is 70-80 million depending on the block. And in this day and age you are either stealth or not. Even the air force has said the F-15 won't be viable by 2030.
