Legion is an upcoming American cable television series created for FX by Noah Hawley, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is connected to the X-Men film series, the first television series to do so, and is produced by FX Productions in association with Marvel Television and 26 Keys Productions. Hawley serves as showrunner on the series.
Dan Stevens stars as David Haller, a mutant diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age. Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton, and Bill Irwin also star. In October 2015, FX and Marvel Television announced a new collaboration to create a television series based on the X-Men character Legion, with Hawley signed on to write and direct the pilot. Casting began by January 2016, and the pilot was completed by May. The show was then picked up to series. Filming takes place in Vancouver, and on sets built in Burnaby. Hawley wanted to show Haller as an "unreliable narrator", including mixing 1960s design with modern-day elements, and filming the series through the title character's distorted view of reality.

AgeDrain Scott Summers DOES have a new identity in this story. Just like Rogue is called either Legacy or Reaper, the name "Cyclops" has been replaced with "Basilisk", a mythological creature whose gaze was lethal. Another big change was the butterfly-winged Pixie being turned into the bat-winged Nightmare.

This story is super interesting where people with a certain brain chemistry will daydream an inner world and personalities inside that world as a way to process information or in more extreme cases process traumatic experiences. And there are different roles for each personality where some fight against an onslaught of external threats and others mediate the stress between the host and act to preserve some construct of stability.

Honestly with the sheer depth of Legion and everything his power includes its almost impossible to depict him on the Big Screen. Same reason Game of Thrones works as a series but wouldn't as a movie series.

Drakkonemus That way of thinking is just limiting yourself. People have unreasonable, subjective expectations regarding movies, nowadays, and I don't know why. Doing a "one shot" about a guy with mental problems, such as multiple personalities, is an endless abyss of ideas for any descent screen writer, look no further than Fightclub. You don't have to know everything about the character right form the start and you don't have to make a movie about character's whole life, getting to know one particular thing about him or her by the way of them playing a role in a small story also makes a great movie. John Wick is a good recent example, there was no introduction to the character (I mean how he became the Baba Yaga), there was no great epic stakes (he's career), it was about a retired guy, who was at the wrong place, at the wrong time and also happened to be one of those one simply should not fuck with. ;) *It's not what the movie is about, it's HOW it goes about it.* :)

Thing is movies has limits too, there's too much you can show in a movie, a good example is Dr. Strange movie, it goes way further than ever predicted or ever imagined, yet even when we have watched the whole movie, we didn't got the whole picture of what we have been told, of course we could be able to cover up more with Dr. Strange in his next films, but with Legion you won't be able to cover much in a movie, in that sense a series with decent writers and effects might work better for this particular character as we can get more of him that we would get in a movie, which has a plot to carry on in a maximum of 3hrs, which only epics films such as The Lord of The Ring can do, being a series give us several hours of explaination of everything he is and how the plot of the series goes, at the end we will end up with a wider picture that we would have got with just a movie (or a trilogy, which is the current fashion).

In the comics of the 90s xavier is always refered to the most powerful telepath in the world and jean grey is 2nd. This was before xman(nate grey) appeared. Emma Frost isnt an omega level mutant she was referenced as an omega level telepath and the writer admit that he didnt know it was a term used in pervious comics.

Marvel really love their "reality-warping-changing" events/story arcs. I haven't followed a lot of Marvel for the past few years. Not since "Original Sins". At that time I was "event-fatigue". Try reading everything and sorting out and arranging those storylines in a cohesive manner in my mind whilst still trying to arrange other things in life was, to say the least, quite a burden at the time. I guess I can understand how Legion feel at times, albeit in a much, much miniscule scale.

if there is a crossover between Marvel and DC, i think alot of people would see the justice league going to war against Legion. If David could use all his 200+ omega level mutant powers it would be very one sided and JLA would lose. maybe a scenario where legion has some of his abilities, and they were not on a mission to kill each other but just to get restrained or knocked out.
