How Powerful Is She? RESPECT: Wonder Woman

I've been busy.
Hi! Have you ever wondered exactly how powerful a certain character is, such as Superman or Thor? It can be difficult to find this out, especially with comic characters, as they can have different writers and different appearances across different continuities.
Here in RESPECT, we analyze all the appearances of the character and list some of their major feats and accomplishments in order to help you understand just how powerful they really are.
Today's video is Wonder Woman, in celebration of the kickass looking movie coming out in 2017! Let's hope they capture her character and power correctly when it comes out.

I love your work man, keep it up. I have a question for you though. Will you be doing Marvel characters too? Or is it just DC? Either way is fine I just want to know what types of request I can/should make. If you would let me know I'd really appreciate it. Thank you. One suggestion I'm going to make that I hope you'll do but, it's totally up to you, use your in-depth knowledge of these characters to make a versus style breakdown. No animation or anything needed. Just list the feats and show the comic panels where you found them. Then explain why the winner wins in your opinion. That would be awesome. If you feel that the VS thing has been done by plenty of others already and you wanna stick to power assessments, that's fine and I understand. You could always mix it up a bit and be one of the only channels that does team VS battles. Example: Goku vs Superman is one of the most highly debated matches on the internet right now. Instead of doing Goku vs Superman(Which has been done to death), you could do the core Justice League [SM, MM, WW, GL, Flash, BM and (Aquaman, Cyborg or SHAZAM depending on the incarnation you use)] vs The Z Fighters [Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Tien, Krillin and Yamcha] I don't know if that's something you'd be into but I sincerely hope you at least consider it. With your knowledge and research the breakdowns would be awesome. It would also lead to debates in the comment section. More debates mean more comments and more comments mean better visibility for your video's. And they deserve more visibility. In fact, that 1 battle breakdown I listed above would probably draw a ton of attention to your channel. If you did it, you could say that you're only going to do these VS video's once a month/6weeks so it doesn't become too much of a burden on you. Doing the battle breakdown in my example would not only give your channel a huge bump in viewers, it would also allow people that wouldn't have known about you to discover your RESPECT videos. I know that if I saw the Justice League vs Z Fighters on your channel and then looked for more only to discover your well made RESPECT videos, I'd stick around and Subscribe for more. Please let me know what you think about all of this when you get the chance. I'm really curious to see how far you want to take this channel. P.S. Please keep making these awesome videos. So many people have started, got me to subscribe, and then let weeks and months go by without posting again. I seriously love this channel and I'd hate to see it go the way of so many others I was beginning to get into.

Thank you for the comment! I do actually plan on doing Marvel characters, in fact the next RESPECT video coming up happens to be a Marvel character! I just happen to be more well versed in DC Characters, and I used them to get the ball rolling. I have considered at one point or another to do a VS series, but for now I might stay away from it. The primary focus of this channel (besides for me to practice video editing) is to bring more well researched comic and manga knowledge to the community, rather than put my opinion on who wins in a fight out there (though if you're looking for good VS discussions, I'd suggest going to the subreddit WhoWouldWin). Though a Team Battle VS would actually be something I might consider, since its not so personal between characters. I appreciate the support, and definitely don't worry about the frequency of videos. I just got out of college for a bit and I have a couple of videos currently in production! I definitely plan on taking this channel as far as it can go!

I always viewed Wonder Woman as the second most physically powerful hero in the DC comics universe behind Superman with Captain Marvel (I refuse to call him Shazam) and Martian Manhunter close behind her. I don't know how she stacks up against the villains, though I imagine Darkseid is stronger. It doesn't matter though because she can outfight them all hand to hand.

Who in the DCEU has fought (solo at that) a Skyfather tier opponent like Ares? She also fared better against Doomsday than Superman. The only recent movie where she looked weak was parts of Justice League, which was incredibly inconsistent with power levels from scene to scene.

That's really how it is. If you compare every hero in the movies to the comics, you would literally see them be so much underpowered. Why? Because the movie would be boring lol. Imagine, all of these feats and you insert this into her own movie? She would be so overpowered and everything in the movie would just end so fast. You know.

Glad you pointed that out! When I reference the "deflecting infinity" feat, I don't mean that to mean that Wonder Woman has infinite strength. She definitely does not. Im more referencing it to mean she deflected the might of olympus. The full power of Olympus is said to be infinite, but I honestly doubt it is, considering the Gods of Olympus are quite lacking in power compared to other non-infinite forces and entities. I didn't call attention to the Spectre feat in the video for the same reason that I didnt count it for Superman, sure shes done it a little bit and it's cool, but it can't mean anything significant for her strength, because that would imply she has infinite strength. Which even in the very same scan, shes proven to not be able to, as both she and Superman failed to lift him for too long. You can either easily lift infinite weight, or you cannot at all.

As for the Spectre, well I didn't read the comic yet but from what I could tell they more or less wanted just to slow the Spectre's fall and the Spectre pointed out it to be NEARLY too much for them, key word nearly. For them struggling to lift them, well there are characters that are omnipotent but still killable which is why we have terms like nigh-omnipotent, which is pretty much like "they are yet they aren't".

The pressure could have also been deflected by the bracers of submission, which is what she used to deflect against the power in the first place. The situation was the Spectre (Hal Jordan at the time) collapsed onto the ground and Superman and Wonder Woman attempted to lift him back up by his cape, which they failed to do for more than a few moments. A character who is "omnipotent" by definition cannot be killed, "nigh-omnipotent" is merely just a step below that to cover the grey area of "they can do practically anything but not everything", which is what The Spectre and many high tier DC characters are. Superman and Wonder Woman's strength do not reach into the nigh-omnipotent level simply because of the times they've been "out-strengthend" by other character who do not have nigh-omnipotent strength. That's not to say either of them are weak however.

They failed to lift him because he fell down to the ground, which goes with the narration Hal Jordan was saying in the scan. And any portion of infinity is still infinity. If Superman and I were trying to lift an infinite weight table, we would both have to lift an infinite amount of weight. Superman's limit on strength can be changed with the sunlight absorption but his default strength is not limitless.

Madhu Krishna Vallabhajosyula They’re really downplaying Martian Manhunter’s powers and abilities in the DC TV series and this could possibly even be the reason as to why he wasn’t included in the first JL movie. Even for Wonder Woman in the JL movie, she’s been depicted as a casual and monotonous character in a sense that she can’t trade blows with Superman and is struggling with the likes of Steppenwolf (who is physically weaker than Superman). Having said that, if Wonder Woman is stated to be “Superman’s equal”or “better”, why is it difficult for her to take on Steppenwolf? I just can’t understand these plot holes that are continuously being introduced by the writers, either subconsciously or not, it’s starting to irritate me and there’s no doubt i’m the only person feeling this type of way.

I think she is absurdly powerful, but what holds her back is she doesn't have a niche. Batman, Superman, The Joker, Thanos, they're the most interesting characters and they have their own niches, batman has live with the duality he wants to protect all, but can't kill the largest threats to that, Superman is faced as never being able to do wrong no matter what (Boring imo but popular) Joker wants pure chaos and will go any means for it, Thanos will sacrifice al things for his goals. Wonder woman has always been portrayed as being some hero with a lasso, and lots of powers. But nothing to make her special, nothing to make her stand out or become an interesting character.

People always say that her weakness is piercing weapons, but I think she is actually vulnerable to electricity as well. In JLA #59, the justice league is fighting against Polaris n Polaris counters Wonder Woman by electrocuting her, noting that she "has a low tolerance for high voltage electroshock therapy". In DC Universe Online (the game), Lex Luthor kills Wonder Woman with what seems like a huge blast of electricity... So is it safe to say that wonder woman's weakness is also electrocution?

I disagree. Wonder woman would beat superman if she went all the way. I mean normally her strength almost rivals superman's and she even beat supergirl several times. This is her 'normal strength, when she had her braclets on. However, when she takes her braclets off, her strength increase by a factor of 10. Her speed is thousands times faster than light, when she stopped all the pieces flying across the universe. She stopped an attack from the combined might of all the Olympians. I've seen polls suggesting a lot of people think Superman or Thor would just walk all over The Dog of War. I think he's near the top of the Superman/ Thor tier. It was also cool to see him appear in the New 52 Wonder Woman series. It was interesting that a guy like Orion who is such a specimen and powerhouse in combat seem to have a pretty close friendship with her brother Milan. Orion seemed to like hanging out with WW's crew even though his crude remarks led to occasionally being blasted in the face by Diana. He is the only character in comic book history I'm aware of who has smacked WW on the ass and repeatedly called her "Legs" without getting his head chopped off.

If one were to discount specific feats and just analyse Wonder Woman in terms of raw ability within the context of canon story (i.e. How strong would the writers make her), I'd portend the following: - Superhuman Condition: Planetary-Tier (i.e. Planet-wrecking, tanking nukes, etc) (i.e. Matching Superman & Captain Marvel types in some regards, being 1 tier below them in others) - Martial Prowess: Top-Tier (i.e. Better than literally everyone) - Arsenal: Supernatural, God-Tier (i.e. Rule-breaking)

I have done HOURS upon HOURS in the last 15 years when it was FIRST announced there was going to be a Wonder Woman Feature Film, and then it was pushed to 2004, then 07, 09 then it was on hiatus, then 2014 and FINALLY 2017. I thought it was never going to be done. Anyway in the things I have read there were things I knew and a lot of thongs I didn't know about Wonder Woman and her abilities/ her powers. I read that Batman and Superman were under mind control either from Maxwell Lord or Brainiac and they were supposed to kill Wonder Woman and Superman had a hold of Wonder Woman ( WW ) and WW was able to free herself by CUTTING Superman's Forehead with her Tiara...I also read that WW is just as strong if not stronger than Superman and that if for whatever reason WW doesn't have her Bracelets of Submission on, she is practically unstoppable BUT the effects of that would cause her to loose her mind, so to speak...I also read that WW, just like The Flash, can "Shimmer " into different dimensions...I will copy and paste ALL of Wonder Woman's Powers and Abilities in the next post because it is faster than me typing it all... a little background info, this is ALL Based on Greek Mythology, and I had gotten it ALL from Wikipedia...it's long, but extremely informative...and I will paste it on the next post...to be continued...

Wonder woman doesn't get her speed from Mercury. She gets her speed from Hermes. Now in reality these two Gods are actually one with different names Mercury (greek) and hermes (roman) but in DC universe Mercury and hermes are both different Gods. Roman Gods are the Copies of Greek Gods and are less Powerful than Greek ones. SHAZAM (captain Marvel) gets his speed from Mercury. Wonder woman gets her speed from Hermes.
