Singapore definitely strives to have the most updated weapon systems in it's army. It's main deterrence is associated with the state of the art weapon systems it maintains, and also in some way, the presence of an available active fighting force of close to 1M. This does look very impressive in principle, on paper. But at the end of the day, it's the soldier behind the weapon systems that will make the difference. And this is clearly shown in the Ukraine army that is holding the Russian army at bay. Singapore has been and continues to be a very affluent country, where the current young people enjoys the "somewhat" carefree lifestyle , owing to the success and wealth of the baby boomer generation. This generation of young people, which forms the bulk of the Singapore army, has never had the need to "fight for survival" or felt the need to constantly get ready to fight for their freedom. In some ways, this current generation of singaporeans , can be viewed as rather "soft". When a war conflict does break out that threatens the sovereignty of Singapore, it will be a question of whether the current young generation will have the guts to fight for their country. And that's why singapore has these well established ties with superpowers like USA , UK, etc... If Malaysia or china really wanted to take over Singapore, just by sheer numbers, it could swamp the small island in a matter of weeks... Sophisticated weapon systems alone will only carry the fight so far, but the soldier behind these weapons makes the ultimate difference.

That is why a new phase of weapons that soldiers fight inside an air con office , directing drones. Robotic dogs and sentry guns to do the fighting. 24/7. Soldiers that do not hear , see or smell death will kill more effectively , like a video game. Singapore is very rich to invest in these type of weapons , moral correct thing to do , better effective killing weapons fire at your own home. Cheers

As at that early age of independence, Singapore is being look upon as a very poor country with slumps that can never prosper and will be a burden instead.
