It is not hard to see why. When he and his sister were wounded and needed aid, Rimuru gave it freely. He asked for things in return, but these were hardly things they would balk at. Indeed it could be seen as things they would do anyway. And from the vantage of peaceful growth Zegion got to see Rimuru built a paradise which was justly governed. Even when provoked Rimuru was pretty fair in his dealings. Add to that Rimuru is friend to and descended from a true dragon, a being which is basically a god, it is easy to see why he is treated as a god king by many. On top of it all is the terrifying level of power Rimuru wields. Why wouldn't Zegion treat Rimuru with extreme deference? As far as Zegion is concerned Rimuru embodies both the power and righteousness of a god.

Also, in the LN Diablo and the other Primordials already had Fighting seassion with him in the labyrinth. (It's tiberias getting the exact place, but it's around the part Diablo is task with reprimanding them each time they 'misbehave'. He said himself that defeating him was hard because of the self exposed rule of not touching the part of Rimuru's cell that is attached to him. Shion herself has experience of fighting strong Insect types like Zegion (e.g., Rahzul and the single digit Insect type women), so battling Zegion won't be too difficult with her.

Zegion is a case of the creators of the anime assuming characters weren't ever going to be important enough as side characters to warrant including in the main season, and when they saw that he was a bit more important than they gave him credit they threw him into the side series so when his roles in the main events DO become prominent, they can say "he was already introduced".

I mean, he only has appeared two times (one of them just a mention) and the other he said and do absolutely nothing in the manga, and even then the anime of Slime Diaries is based on the manga of the same name, so it wasn't them (anime) that didn't introduce him in season 1 because they didn't think it was needed, it's enough to just tell us forward in the story (if it ever gets adapted) "Oh btw, these two were (explains backstory) and that's it", it would be enough. Btw, at least the introduced him with a badass voice actor, I definitely want to see more of him animated, that voice is excellent.

Anytime Zegion evolves so too does his armor. In the Web Novel (note this is no longer canon but can be a rough idea as to what will happen, and LN version of characters tend to be stronger) his armored exoskeleton becomes so durable and tough that it superceded even Adamantine and was called Godsteel. To put it in perspective, Zegion's final form is so physically tough that even Milim, one of the strongest fighters in Tensura, can only scuff the armor at minimal. And yes, thats actually using effort on the girl's part.

Zegion is also one of the two direct descendants of Zelanus but for some unknown reason, they ran away from the hive when they're still at larval stage. Zegion holds an advantage as long as his opponents has blood, hemolymph, or any form of liquid inside their bodies. He also holds the advantage within environments with water vapors, mist, and moisture (every places that has hydrogen including space and planets' atmosphere). After reading Vol. 19, It's 50/50 weather Zelanus would be an ally after learning about Zegion and Apito's existence and how Rimuru saved and trained them. On the other hand s/he might become an enemy because Shion killed Minaza and Razul. If Zegion and Apito committed treason just like Razul, s/he'll definitely become an enemy along with the remaining Insectar generals.

I'd prefer for him/her to be an ally. Not saying that Rimuru couldn't defeat Zelanus, but it would drastically decrease the chance of enemies to win if s/he's not on their side.

yeah, it kinda annoy me how unreasonably powerful and skilled benimaru become, he started as just an a ranked ogre, the primordials started as an s rank demon who scared luminous and leon which then rimuru gave them superior body, logically the 3 primordials before awakening should still be stronger than awakened benimaru , heck, even the 3 demons directly under the primordials should've been stronger than benimaru especially moss. I like benimaru but he didn't need to be that strong, he's a great leader and that should be the focus for him, it'll be a lot better and more interesting if benimaru is inferior to the top 10 demons but he's a leader who can make an army of b rank beat up an army of a rank because of his superior command, rather than him just being stupidly overpowering at everything

The author fuse rarely bring out zegion for some reason and just look at how he basically just 1 shot everyone every time he fights. For the insectar race, if youre interested you dont need to worry i think. Just like diablo brought all the demon race in tempest, we have apito and her 9 insectar children she created through her skill. Thats basically like zelanus and his people in terms of genealogy and races. At last the insectars have their place on earth (which minaza failed at) after kept competing and fighting against the demon race in the underworld for supremacy. Another black number posibility?
