Honestly I think a non ridden yi ling is far more dangerous then a ridden one cause of it's insane ai accuracy, I plan to have at least 2 following me at all times

The hardest part of taming the yi ling for me was getting rid of the other 5 that tried to interfere. There are way too many of these things all in the same area.

Check out Nooblets trap, it's similar but on pillars so the yi ling won't keep landing trying to bite you. Works the same as this one just a little quicker. You do have to put ramps up to it so you can jump out to feed if necessary and run back up.

The Yi Ling's taming method does seem a bit similar to the Acro's taming method but instead of you shooting it to K.O the dino, the Yi Ling needs to shoot you a certain amount of times before flashbang into biotoxin feeding.

Toastbloke showed you can tame the yi ling with any kibble (even basic), but the better the kibble fed during taming, the faster the taming % increases with each feed. So in that sense the superior eggs from the yi ling is not contradictory.

I still don’t understand how we could’ve had all of those amazing creatures in the vote, and what is essentially a worse rock drake won it. I don’t hate the yi, or at least as much as I did when it was first announced, but I’m still upset that neither of the spiders or the flightless owl lost lol

Thanks for the video! I have been loving this creature. Given the topic of the video, I wanted to share one piece of information about the Yi Ling that some people may not be aware of: It can dash a short distance while on the ground - forwards, backward, left, and right. More importantly, while it can only dash upward once when gliding, it can dodge sideways as long as it stays in the air! While its usefulness may be limited in PVE, it can probably be of use in PvP to dodge projectiles, but I will let the PVPers opine on that one :P!

For pve, it allows a cheap way to knock out large tames instead of wasting arrows or darts, with a decent level, you can do a few thousand torpor per dive bomb after feeding it biotoxin

Use 4 stone foundations and 16 stone single door frames. It will dive when it's feather count hits 30, 40, 60 and around 80. You can feed it each time if timed correctly.

You could pair the sedate feathers with the slow feathers. Maybe, I haven't tested this out, but it would give some utility to the slow feathers

I think they should be on Valguero and be Deinonychus’ rivals. They are both Raptor-like creatures, Deinonychus can climb but not glide, whereas Yi Ling can glide but not climb.

The yi lings poison feathers are extremely good against reapers, the poison goes straight through their resistances and quickly downs them. Making them a great tame albeit risky way to kill alpha reapers on the surface

Regarding the slow debuff feathers; do they knock flyers out of the air or prevent them from taking off? I'm just trying to think of useful applications for this firing mode.

towards the giga tranq: i do not know if it is still applicable in ASA, but the horny dragon from scorched earth applied a debuff back in my days, that forced torpor to rise, even on a giga, preventing it from burning torpor back down and even staying topped after knockout for the remeining duration of the horny dragon debuff. That might be of assistence in building up torpor on such a creature.

Maybe they could do okay in Rockwell Arena? Cause I’ve seen people use Asc Shotties to wipe out rockwells tentacles. But since you have mounted weapons on Drakes it would be a bit pointless.

Unfortunately the control's and gliding are glitched up on the xbox so you cant switch aim mode and the glide just stutters down toward the ground instead of slowly lossing altitude at least the trap helps with the taming which is a nightmare on console

So here are my thoughts on the Yi Ling being allowed in the boss arena. Totally fine. 1. You proved just how useless in terms of damage they are. 2. If you want to bore yourself clinging onto a wall, shooting hundreds and hundreds of ammo at bosses, knock yourself out. I'm all for creatures making fights more fun, because we've dealt with grind DPS check fight for far too long with ARK, and this looked fun. People will always find cheese methods, so why not allow fun instead :)
