Hi Markus, my father was a great fan of yours sadly he passed away not much time ago. But you made him happy so thank you. Now i have watched some of your videos aswell, I spended much time too experimenting with cameras, many microphones and post processing, but i'm never happy with the quality of my voice. If you can do a video to explain how to post process your audio in a correct way it would be really helpful! in any case i have learn a lot of cool things watching your videos! Thank you for sharing.

Sorry for your loss.. Just looked at your channel 2.59m subs! Wow... Regarding your voice.. No one really likes their own voice when they hear a recording of it.. The reason is.. when you speak you hear part of the sound from in your throat .. try making a clicking sound with your tongue.. with your mouth closed and then open... It's also like seeing yourself on a screen.. your not like your used to in a mirror...

Band-Aids for sticking a lav to yourself? Who knew? I love your creativity when it comes to stuff like this! If it works, it works. No need to spend hundreds of dollars for a complex doohickey that has the same effect as foam and tape. As a VERY early beginner filmmaker without any pro audio equipment, this series is really helpful! Thanks for helping me plan ahead!

Cara is a real trooper and a very good sport! As usual another master class! I did a career in law enforcement; your tips would have come in handy during several undercovers where I was wearing a wire. Didn't seem to matter if it was someone wanting their Ex "hit" or someone selling weapons or drugs they all seemed to have one thing in common, meeting at the local topless joint, so a dancer could check you for wires. Please consider offering a class to the local police on hiding a wire. It's so awkward, but exciting, when they find one...

Great video. I like to clip mine on the earpiece of my glasses and run the the wire back over my ear. This works best in the winter when I’m wearing a hat. The brim of the hat also reduces noise pickup in some directions. Also, since I’m not making a story type movie it normally doesn’t bother me to wear a visible headset. This is my preferred method.

You are really a great gadget guy. Seeing everything that can be had is really useful. And of course, sticking mikes ard recorders and wires all over poor Cara was one of the main attractions! 😊If I come to think of it, for a musical on a stage you do not have to hide anything. The mike itself is part of the show. But on a film set things would be the exact opposite. The mike must never be seen. i wonder how much sound - i.e. speech - they actually pick up during the take and how much is dubbed in afterwards.

It sounds like you enjoy a bassy sound. The modern way of achieving that while avoiding ear fatigue is to use a multiband compressor as an eq, with a slow attack time on the bass to let some of it get through and "squeeze" the rest of it. This will keep the intelligibility of the voice, without the need to boost the high frequencies so much. You're welcome.
@MarkusPix
@MarkusPix 2 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what I do. Multiband compressor, no EQ. Like I said, no matter what I do on my end, it will sound different depending on what people are using to listen to it on their end. Audiophiles have bright expensive speakers and headphones that amplify the effect more, whereas most people listen on cheap speakers, cell phones and laptops, which is what my stuff is tuned for, which is why 98 percent of the comments are people asking what my settings are because its the best they've heard. I can always tell who the audiophiles are by their comments and how it doesnt sound good on their systems lol. Its impossible to please everyone.

Hey what about this. I watched a show sometime ago called Naked and Afraid. The people were obviously neked. I noticed they were all wearing a necklace with a little ball on it but I could not figure out where the wire was…The carry around these bags also which I assume is where the recorder is, or possible where the wire is. But then….they were all in the ocean having a chit chat and I was again stumped. They had the necklace on, but I saw no way how they were running they system. I would say a boom mic but it was a shot of them no boom could reach and so. My question is. Is there a LAV mic that is wireless with a tiny transmitter? If so, any idea who makes it? Would love to try it out if that’s what is going on. If not, I am curious how they mic these people. Thanks again Markus (and Cara) for sharing.

A couple of things If you do a lot of this you will find some people react to various adhesives, particularly when the equipment needs to stay in place for long periods like, with multi-day shoots of seasons or live performances. Different people react to different adhesives on different parts of the body .... it is therefore useful to have a variety of products to chose from. The medical people know about this, so the medical industry has various products to address this issue. The medical industry has a vast range of useful products ..... it's worth going to a good specialist first aid or medical dressing supplier and get em to show you what they got ... buy a box full. there are other non adhesive medical products that can be very handy like "tubigauze" comes in various sizes ..... it is an elastic gauze tube that come in a wide variety of sizes. Althletic strapping and support items can be useful modified as necesary Wound closure products can be handy .... old school butterfly closures or the more modern steri-strips. Then there are the surgical wound dressings ... they come in two types, one with an absorbent pad and the other all adhesive ........ these go on like a normal high end band aid and then the backing is peeled off to leave a clear and very conforming covering ... these tend to be low alergenic. so many goodies the medical industry has to offer
