I used to do this for a living.... this type of testing takes a LOT of time... the vid above seems to show the testing they do with a West Mountain CBA before they order in cells..... FYI.. after doing this for years I learned one thing- the test samples from Asia, were always farrrr better than the production units we received...

Can't say that I'm at all disappointed with Protek packs... But I do wonder - Resistance numbers on all my packs are really low, but my Prodigy 625 always shows a slightly higher IR on Channel 2 vs when I charge on Channel 1, even if I'm using the same charging harness and balance board. Is there something in the circuitry of the 625 that could be introducing that bit of IR to the sensor on that channel? It has been that way since I bought the charger. Oh, and something else I thought of... Is it a good thing to regularly discharge cells at that high 35A rate, (similar to the the good old days of daisy-chained automotive bulbs, but of course with voltage cutoff)? I'm sure it's great for maintaining that low IR, but probably not soo good for the overall life of the batteries. Wondering if purchase an accessory like the SkyRC 35A discharger is a good idea.
@AMain_Hobbies3 жыл бұрын
That IR reader is pretty good for a general snapshot but it's definitely not a microscopic look. For more accurate and consistent readings you might want to invest in a dedicated IR unit. For the 35A discharge, it's not done when cycling the packs; they are cycled at a 1C rate; the 35A discharge is only performed to test the performance of the pack. When you drive your vehicle you might be discharging at 35A or higher, so you're packs will get their exercise. -Brett

ProTek states; 10C is the max charge rate - 1C charge rate recommended for longest life. Other than faster charging times is there an advantage to charging at 10C?
@AMain_Hobbies Жыл бұрын
Charging at a high amp rate will excessively heat the pack from the inside out giving it more performance. Stock racers primarily use this to achieve more performance when motor power is limited. For context, I'm talking about 30-40A charge rates and as a side note, the batteries don't last as long with this method (when you're trying to win, it's a small sacrifice). -Brett

@taimaishu-nao19223 жыл бұрын
@@jettthomas9453 Grab an EcoPower multi chemistry charger/discharger. I have one of their balance chargers and I charge mine to 1C. You will get what you pay for in terms of features so you may want to consider getting one that does 35A discharging if you don’t have a discharger already. The great thing about multi chemistry is that you’re not limited to ONLY NimH or LiPo. It might seem expensive but it’s worth it if you do a lot of bashing and racing.
