There is a Huge Rainbow Eucalyptus tree about 4 stories tall right next to my house. It was planted in the 8 feet area between the sidewalk and the street. I am in south Florida, I am worried that a hurricane might bring it down over my house. Should I be worried?

Rainbow gums are not native to Australia so are not a primary food for koalas.

Are they “widow makers” like most eucalyptus do they drop branches in drought periods. We have some strange real estate that built housing in man made eucalyptus forests. Lost lots of homes to forest fires 🔥... stupid! 🤔☹️😢

@@daleysfr It is professionally irresponsible to sell or recommend such huge trees for any but plantations and other large spaces. Training and maintenance costs, especially the latter, could be too much for owners of small properties.

These are important considerations for anyone planting a tree, but in particular gum trees which can grow into large trees, drop branches and are highly flammable. Always research the mature size that a tree will grow before deciding to plant one in your backyard. A full size gum tree is not a good choice to grow in a small backyard.
