Solid video. Great advice. I've been training almost 30 years now. I always wanted to be strong and muscular. Now they call it power bodybuilding. We just called it getting jacked. This was before people believed you could get bigger curling the same 20lb dumbbell. 😂 sorry to ramble, I worked to get to the 6 plate deadlift, 5 plate squat, and 4 plate bench, 2 plate OHP. Im 5' 10' 225lbs. I love to train and have enjoyed the journey. Looking forward to being the strong & jacked old dude now. 😂😂

I got 15lbs shy of 315lb Bench (3Plates). But this is where most of my injuries started to happen. I chalked it up to my “natural limit.” But I still continue to aim high.

Nah mate you will get it. Just switch up your program and then put an emphasis on OHP and develop the shoulders

Without going into the video, if the shoes are grey then they are bearfoot

3.5 years to crack 3 fucking plates is rough. Almost at 3 plates under 1 year. Will probably hit it by January-February. Im not even a giant 5'8' but to be fair im probably broader in the shoulders than most strongmen.

Yeah they will give you an advantage. It took me about 2 years but I was 17 , start training at 15

I'm in my 50's, weigh 160 and after 18 months of training have 1 RM of 240. I'm not sure if I will ever get to three plates, but have to imagine someone younger, bigger and in decent health should be able to get there without too mcu trouble.

Give it another 2 - 3 years at most mate and you will do it

Hey dude, a little off topic question but do you do any kind of lower back exercises? I have a job that somtimes involves lifting heavy and awkward shaped objects and while strength wise it’s not a problem for me I do find because being 6ft 3 my lower back tends to get agitated, any tips?
@LairdRoss5 ай бұрын
Yeah mate I found just basic planks helped and same with high rep Stiff Legged Deadlifts but with a light weight

@@LairdRoss Oh nice cheers, I’ll add them in to the routine, keep up the good content as usual mate

Hi there Laird just subbed ya. I´m chasing a 200kg bench naturally. I´m natural a big boy with above avg genetics- 6ft1 and 235ish. 31yo and been lifting for 12 years but only 1 month ago I started focusing on powerlifting (never trained chest more than 1x/week in my life). I can do 3 plates with ease paused reps. I did 150kg x 6 last week topset. My goal is to get close to 190kg 1repmax to end of year do you think is possible naturally ?
@LairdRoss5 ай бұрын
Maybe not by the end of the year but definitely if your at 150kg for 6. General rule is 10 should give you 200kg. At the moment you should be around 177kg as a max
@bernardo21515 ай бұрын
@@LairdRoss Thanks for the advice I don´t plan on maxing out soon. Mostly doing a top set (triple) and backdown sets work 3x 5/6. Also paused reps,larsen press and Dips for variation. Im knocking the door on that 4 plate bench. 200KG will definitely take longer.

How much do you weigh?
@TheOlsonOutfit6 ай бұрын
This is a critical factor. The average weight adult male vs. the weight of the guys benching 315 is vastly different.
