Finally trying out the 86 in AC Evo and tried to compare it to the real-life counterpart.
All in all it feels alright but needs some work. Hope to see this car develop into more like the real one. This handling model feels like the they just pulled it over from the first game and slapped on the new tire model, which does not feel that good.

One quick thing, atm tire surface temp doesnt impact grip, this is probably why it grips up in a drift in a weird way

What is that awful squeaking, is that coming from your shifter? Check to see if it needs grease man, that would drive me crazy. Anyway I'm glad to hear it's similar. I drive one of these irl too. I'm surprised you said it felt heavy, but coming from a Miata that comparison's not fair lol, that's like the lightest car you can have outside of a caterham or something. My Evo X was understeer city compared to the 86 so for me relatively speaking it's a very light and nimble car. It's very balanced and controllable and easy to rotate and slide. I'm happy they got most of the characteristics right, the grip sounds like a tire model thing which hopefully can be smoothed out with updates overtime. Same thing with sound and if all else fails hopefully they open the game up to mods in the future like the original. Cheers brother nice video.

Sorry about the noise. It was my gas pedal, for some reason these pedals are pretty squeaky. Time to grease them for sure. When I recorded it, I did not expect for it to pick up on the mic but sadly it did. Already working on improving for the next one!

Honestly I'm already happy with what we have in-game. Certainly the modeling is very good, the only mild downside being the trunk interior is a bit wonky. Might be because it's euro-spec. But it's the first proper gr86 in any sim/game (the iracing one doesn't count)

I own a lightly modified first gen BRZ with just coilovers, tires and brakes that I also track regularly. I don't have much experience with a real GR86 to compare to but found the GR86 in Evo was way too tail happy, particularly on corner entry, but you gotta be very careful on exit too. I found the 86 in the original AC behaves much closer to my real car by comparison. Also, the Evo force feedback for my G923 is practically non-existent regardless what I do with the settings so it's very hard to feel what's going on, so I'm always a bit late to correct these slides. I found the first AC much easier to feel and control by comparison.

Great observation. Admittedly, i dont have much seat time in a first gen but I will say the suspension feels pretty close in this game. The stock GR86 suspension seems to be tuned IRL to slide quite a bit. Although, the real car likes to understeer on corner entry and oversteer on exit. The original 86 in AC still feels better than this.
@inebium

it is because the AC FFB is made to give you all the information you need that you can't get from your butt. I really hope evo can do the same at some point and let people choose what they prefer like "realistic" (as in how the wheel feel IRL) vs what FFB is for (giving you information you can't get another way in a sim).

It's not Unreal like ACC. It's an updated version of their own engine from AC. They claim built from the ground up, but I assume it still has roots in the original AC engine.

its not an updated version, its a new engine completely. of course there will be similarities, thus the routes you say. its like an artist making a forest and then drawing the forest again this time with lakes and all. you will see the styling and technique of the artist in the second painting, but its from the ground up. if that clarifies it, kind of.

Have you tried comparing TC on vs TC off in AC Evo? I've tried on the M4 CSL, which has a 10 stage TC setting and it feels very inaccurate to me, in that TC make the car much slower in game than in real life. The thing will be tripping just going down a straight. I have a G87 M2, so the car is the same platform as the M4, with the same underlying TC system. I look forward to being able to compare real life to sim once the G87 is released in game. Thanks for the video!
@quitsmokingkekw
@quitsmokingkekw Күн бұрын
I have not. Simply because the 86 in real life is faster with everything off. The "track mode TC" in this game doesn't seem to replicated as it is in real life. Although I've never tried track mode in real life either, I usually just turn everything off on track.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that's OCD about the left side of the gauge cluster not being correct? At least in my '23 GR86, it's a numerical readout of coolant, oil, and lap times. Other than that, with my limited time playing EVO (Less than 2 hours), it feels like the rear kicks out too easily while braking.

Spot on observations regarding the tyre model. It regains grip too abruptly. But there is still time too polish it, it is better than ACC ever had (the slick tyre model). Does it convey a proper weight sensation over curbs?

You should try force a huge understeer. Not only does it feel like shite, but the car acts like no big deal. You can litterally understeer the fuck out of the gt2 ferrari and you will be just as fast, if not faster than driving it on the limit.

AC OG's physics work as a system, its different parts must work together to produce a result. If one of these parts is modified without the others being correspondingly adapted, then an improvement in one point may not necessarily be an improvement in the whole. I've seen this with many mods made with the custom shaders patch, especially the NSX being one of the most notable examples, but also the Porsche Singer. Simply adding a more developed tire model is not enough to make the AC EVO more realistic.

yeah as some others pointed out the tyre model is not finished. some temperature effects atm are not calculated in, also don't think the entire tyre has a proper wear model yet. or something like that. I assume the end result will feel even better. the base seems to be so far ahead of everything else I have played, and its not even finished. I can't wait for future updates :) Also, isn't there the base model in the game as well? It has 2 GR86 models to chose from. Looking at it now there is the 2 premium versions and then there are the 2 Performance Package versions. I think you are on the Performance Package one from the colour of the car, not sure. See if the other one is maybe even closer to your car?

@ To be fair, there is a warning on steam that the game is early access. Anyone that spends their money on the game should be aware of the risks. The discussion of $70 games that are unfinished is a different story. They are promising a complete game that simply does not work. With early access, you are buying into the development of the game.

hahaha whatre the odds you and me both man, i came from a miata and i still have my NA and a BRZ, I think it feels very close to irl, except the diff seems to open too suddenly and grip up like you say, and also even when you had that nice slide as you described it, I think it would be a lot smoother irl, seems like its intermittently trying to grip up in the game.

I dont have any drifting experience in the GR yet i have driven one, but with the GT86 you gotta really force it to slide likely due to lack of power, It looks kinda light and easy in game, I can visually see what you mean with the "Grip snapping" you talk about sometimes its fine and sometimes its like you have passed a in game calculation limit? it might just be entirely due to how the game calculates weight and inertia overall, so i think if that is what we are looking at, then maybe that is going to be more developed in the future, who knows? Thats the best i could take from this anyway.
