@johngustafsson - I don’t mind if some of the highly technical, spirited playing made a bit of a comeback, but the trite subject matter of the lyrics in most ‘80’s rock and metal can stay long dead for all I care.

@@chiptovey6015 are you kidding me? Those lyrics are a teenage and young adult way of life, which is how old most of the guys in these bands were when they wrote it... They are just as relevant, if not more so, than they were 30+ years ago. The anthem decade for living young, wild, and free

Winger may have gotten a lot of flak, in no small part thanks to Beavis and Butthead, but they were much more talented musically than their look might have suggested. Reb has always had INSANE tapping chops, as the solo to this tune clearly demonstrates. He clearly has a knack for writing deceptively difficult riffs, as evidenced by the huge number of inaccurate tabs for this one out there. The off-time rhythm in this one hints at some serious jazz leanings in the rhythm section. Indeed, if any “hair metal” band had a candidate for “most progressive sounding,” Winger would probably be it. Thanks for the riff, Uncle Ben...now do the solo!

Saw Winger live during their tour for their 2nd album and again just a couple years ago. They are still every bit as good if not better, than back in the day. Reb was/is light years ahead of the guitar players of the other bands that Winger was unfairly lumped in with. And neither Kip nor the band in general, NEVER received any of the musical respect they truly deserved, IMO.

Dude you totally saved me! I was just trying to play this using only the tab and my ears, and it was not going well. Clunky and slow. Then I opened your video and bam! First magic tip was the up stroke on the chord strumming throughout the entire riff. That totally made it fall into place rhythmically. Then the finger positioning for the bar chords on the 7th and 5th frets with that little note on the G string of the 11th fret with the pinky. And of course the end of the riff on the 3rd position. I would NEVER have figured all this out. Thanks for saving me (and others) from learning this song all wrong like I often do with these tough ones. For example, I love Scorpions but Rock You Like a Hurricane is not a song that EVER needs to be gone over by any guitar player.
