The reason why each deck has offense and defense of different testaments is because the decks are meant to play against each other, so the Old Testament Offense will go after the Old Testament Defense while the New Testament Offense will go after the New Testament Defense.

I'd love to see a video of you showing how its played and maybe match or two. Really is interesting and it's actually kinda incredible it's been around for so long.

I feel like the biggest failing of this box is that it doesn't make it clear that there are two decks inside. It says "starter decks" with an "s", but it's in a difficult to read font and it's partially covered by the flap. I feel like they needed to throw a "2" somewhere on the box like "2 starter decks" or "2-player starter set" both for clarity and to make it seem like a better value. This is especially an issue because the box is only about the size of a single deck for any other card game. Even the back of the box doesn't make it clear that there are two decks inside and only says that it's good for new players.

I like most the card art the comic book art while I can see that as "Appealing" doesn't really jive with the rest of the art work. Do you think consistency in art style is important for a card game?
@17blaziken4 жыл бұрын
personal opinion: It's one of the thing that you have to "get right". If you start with comic style, you should stick with it for consistency. Jumping from an art style to another should be done just to divide sets (for example) or other special cases

Honestly I like different art styles in a card game. That's something I really like about Pokemon, is how historically they've had a wide variety in each set. Yugioh also has been getting a bit more varied in terms of art lately. Magic has a nice art style, but I prefer variation.
@Yous01474 жыл бұрын
@@0Enigmatic0 Yeah but I feel Pokemon is a special case in how they do it. They have a standard style that follows the anime really well but has better production value to ease everyone into the game. And then you have stylistic choices that inform you of the cards character, its set as well as expanding your viewpoint on that Pokemon. In Pokemon, it meshes well partially because Pokemon is already stylistic and simple in its expression so you can warp things in a comic book fashion (and with clay) without it feeling off, and partially because they're done so well that each card's art carries that card inherently and separate from other cards. If say you made cards that were made like classical paintings, making some of them follow comic book art and aesthetic might clash too much because of how realistic classical art is, while using modern art counterparts might work well because the stylistic aspects aren't as far off but instead show the same in a new light. That's just my guess though.

Yes, however the cartoon artstyle sells, While the classic style is offers a familiar comfort. It's an odd concept, but for the audience they're aiming for it works.

The one thing I've never understood about the front art is that that art (in the card game) is used on the card Guardian of Your Souls, which prevents lost souls from "falling away" an effect used once in the Women's Set and then never see again. It's a pretty nieche card to be using as the front cover of your game and doesn't even appear in these decks, even If to young Christan me was like "cool dude in armor is cool"

A little bit. But considering the fact this is selling at Christian book stores, it's going to be surrounded by lots of Okay to Pretty Good design, which this is on the upper end of imo, but very little Excellent design. Mostly a matter of the smaller market not justifying spending a ton on visual design, I suspect. Still, I hope this game's team takes this critique to heart and uses it to refine future versions, because niche games thriving is good for everyone.

That's probably because of the blue curly marker font they decided to go with. It doesn't go well with the dramatic comic book art and the edgy mideval font of the title. If they went with a more regular font that didn't clash with their other font so much and put it in a more neutral color, either black or white with a black outline, then it'd look a lot better. The swirly font looks alright on the 4th edition stamp though.
