This is the story of the Reebok Pump -a tale of ingenuity, competition, and a technological leap that captured the hearts of athletes and sneaker enthusiasts and most importantly, put Reebok in a serious contender spot in the sneaker race.
But what happen? How did Reebok despite the culture phenomenon that the pump was, fall to where we know them today, and better still, what made the pump such a ground breaking design in the 90s?

I rocked both the white and black hi tops in the 80s… switched to Adidas in college and never looked back. You nailed it. Reebok lost its luster and couldn’t keep up with the bigger brands that looked to the future. Reebok management didn’t look to what they could be in the future.

I remember when the Pump came out and it really was a cultural phenomenon like you said. You couldn't go a day without hearing someone talk about it. Funny thing is that I can only remember one kid ever having them and it was a while after their peak

I have the re-issue Twilight Zone and Omnizone and they are amazing. I also have the Nike Force Pump and they are heavy, and uncomfortable. The Reebok Pumps are much better than the Nike Pumps.

Well, it came true. Adidas dumped Reebok like an old girlfriend.

Shaq owns most of Reebok now so that is why you see the brand at Wal-Mart. It is all about sales. Not where they are sold.
