I just gave my ring for resizing in smaller size for 5mm smaller.But the men told me that the small stones can drop out because of the movement and resizing.-is it true?

Of course, if you have more fragile stones, they can be protected from the heat of soldering by using a type of clay product that can encase the top of the ring while the band is being worked on. Diamonds don’t require such handling. Great video!

Wouldn’t cutting it damage the integrity of the ring? I bought an expensive engagement ring and had to get it resizes. Almost threw up when he cut it in half

When down sizing I wonder if your able to use the chunk of gold that's cut out to weld it back together if made into those little squares ?
@scaffoal2 жыл бұрын
No, the removed parts cannot be reinstated. For the union of the two parts gold is used in alloys with a lower melting point.

Great video. What did you put on the gemstones to protect them?
@scaffoal6 жыл бұрын
thank you. For some gems a refractory paste is used to protect them from heat, others do not suffer heat damage. The use of refractory pastes also depends on the position in which the welding is carried out, in some cases, the structure of the ring, allows the welding to be carried out, without the heat being propagated up to the gem.

Great video! I have one question. Have you ever damaged jewels during crafting? Something like you accidentally scratched diamond or something and how did you managed that issue?
@scaffoal9 жыл бұрын
Chris J it is very difficult to damage a diamond, while it is very easy to damage an emerald. It can always happen a mishap. When it happens, there are two possibilities, you can cut the gem or replace it.
