@@Eat-MyGoal Well, as I am learning, most of what beard has said here makes sense of what i am encountering. Therefore, what, exactly, is incorrect about it, if, as you say, ".. the fact it's almost entirely incorrect..." When I watch other content creators I am just left more confused.
@Eat-MyGoal2 жыл бұрын
@@tadge-rico He's talking nonsense. I've made a bunch of other comments yesterday because this video is so annoyingly incorrect. If you organise the comments in date order you can see them. To summarise though: Killing only one species does not make that species population bigger. Finding need zones does not make the overall population bigger - it just gives that impression because you know where to go and when. Needs zones play NO PART in the population size mechanics. I've had up to 400 need zones on maps in the past - before they did the most recent re-set - and the size of the population DID NOT change. At all. In any way. The size of the population is set the first time you play a map by the animal population file which is generated and stored on your computer, the size of which rarely changes - it goes up and down by a few dozen animals at best, irrespective of what you kill or how many and the proportion of the overall population per animal species remains the same. It's pretty much 'one out, one in'. Like I say, I'm not speculating the animal population scanner PROVES this. Animals don't spawn back in between 3-6 days, they respawn after kills almost instantaneously - it happens in real time as shown by the animal population scanner. They don't respawn at a certain time in a certain place on the map - that's him observing animals walking from outside his render distance towards him and into it, and he's witnessing this happen at the same place at the same time because he's observing the animals following their pre-determined paths between need zones which take place at a pre-determined time. 🤣🤣. When you do that, they do seemingly just pop up out of nowhere. But the render distance is metre-specific so that's exactly what will happen when an animal crosses that point. He IS right to say when you kill an animal it will spawn back in one that is either bigger or smaller. So it is wise to kill only males and only the higher class ones - this will increase the chance of diamonds, but the impact is MARGINAL - your animal pop is never going to go from 5 diamonds to 20, you might gain an extra one at best. I've got 180 diamonds, I know my stuff. I would recommend finding and downloading the animal population scanner - it's not a cheat tool, it doesn't tell you where the animals are but it does show you the size of the population, logs and displays the real time respawns, and gives a decent indication of how many diamonds within the population. This is helpful because sometimes the game generates a population with no diamonds in it at all, in which case it's wise to delete that population file and let the game generate a new one. If you're a diamond hunter that is. Not everyone is and there are many ways to play the game. RE: Need zones... they are VERY useful and worth protecting. I've killed countless diamonds when I have followed a high trophy animal trail, found the need zone and then placed a tripod nearby and gone back just before the animal is due there the next in-game day and killed it. Most of my diamond kills have been pre-planned rather than just stumbling across one. Often I will see a diamond and if the line of sight is not good enough or it's too far away I will hold fire, mark on the map where I saw it, go there and find its tracks, follow them and find its need zone. Another thing about needs zones and you'll be able to verify this. You know when you find one and there's a bunch of glowing need zones markers? You click on one and it might say 'one mule deer' and you click on another glowing need zone marker right next to it and that might say 'three mule deer'? That's because animals which use the same need zone are often from different groups and they can arrive at slightly different times. This is worth noting: NEVER shoot the first big buck you see. Wait, there might be another group about to turn up with a diamond in it and you've just scared it off ;) If you want any more advice, ask away - I'd rather you learn the game from facts and if I don't know, I'll just say so. Too much garbage is said about this game by people propagating theories based on confirmation bias...

This answers a lot of questions as I've only recently been trying to learn the meta of this game to pursue larger animals.
@justplainbrad77132 жыл бұрын
The very first answer conflicts with a game creator. Here JaxyBeard said, ''if you shot an animal and didn't collect it, it will reappear as an exact duplicate''. COTW Creator said, ''When an animal dies, it's 'profile is erased' from the system, and it is gone forever''. Someone here is wrong.

Sorry for a reply 3mo later, but this is the exact reason I searched for this video. Someone on my Reddit post said I had to pick them up, but i havnt picked up over 600 kills during my grind and definitely do not get the same animal respawns, so harvesting them definitely has no effect on it, either way it is a random respawn in my experience.

@@aidenmccraw4423 Periodically, a creator will answer certain questions on Steam, and this was one of the questions...so it came from the top. I've listened to a lot of people answering questions, and they were dead wrong. Most answer from their own guessing, and not from trial/error, or from documented information. While playing regularly, the past 2+years, I've encountered many problems that others said 'worked a certain way', only to test, and find that those people were guessing, and very wrong. One example - Setting tents : It was set-up within the resting zone of bison, and when entering the zone, and waiting in a tripod, the animals were a "no-show. Then, seeing their tracks everywhere, I left the tripod, removed the tent, and walked 250yd away returning immediately to find the zone full of animals. They were there, they just didn't materialize until I left the zone, and removed the target tent. People had told me different things, and reasons, and only while experimenting did I find the reason. This was tried three more times, and worked exactly the same way each time.

'The more need zones you have on your map the more animals you have on your map?' TOTALLY INCORRECT. The pop size is established when the pop file is generated and rarely alters much in numbers up or down. I'm not debating this, I'm telling you this. The animal population scanner proves this beyond doubt. All needs zones do - and this is of value - is show you where to hunt and when, thus giving you an impression of a larger animal pop...

Great videos, I've learned a lot from watching you! In behind the times and just found this game about a month ago, on console. First thing I learned was need zones and population, then I started my whitetail grind to spawn a diamond. Been hitting my locations as often as possible, bouncing from their drink time right into feeding time. However on 3 separate occasions in 2 feed zones, I have shot both lvl 2 bucks that were present and moved on to the next zone. When coming back by these 2 zones about an hour later(in game time), there were 2 more bucks in those zones of the exact same lvl and weight class as the original 2. I didn't harvest them because of hunting pressure, but if all feed at the same time and there isnt another feed zone remotely close by, where did they come from so fast? Respawns already? Layton Lake was the reserve, zones are along the Highton River. Thanks again for all your videos and insight, hopefully soon I can nail me a diamond for the lodge!
@svE-894 жыл бұрын
Hi, first of all, great video! It does raise a lot of questions. 1. First of all, the respawn category. Around 1:25 you say that a killed animal will return the same weight category. This allows for a different level animal as if you kill a high weight 2 it can come back as a low weight 3. But that means an animal that is not max weight will never respawn as a max weight. Therefore all non-max-weight kills are worthless when it comes to diamonds and only could result in special fur. Is that correct? 2. Second, about multiplayer. My husband and I have been testing and confirmed the following: If the host of the multiplayer game quits that game, everything that is hence killed on that map will still be available on his single player map. I did spot a legendary water buffalo on his map, he quit, went single player and we both killed that buffalo. Feels like cheating though, so we did not do the same with my legendary puma. After I killed it in multiplayer on my map (without leaving beforehand) it was no longer there on my single player map. Moreover, if all multiplayer kills (without leaving server) did not matter at all and multiplayer took a 'snapshot' of your single player map, that would mean every time you start a multiplayer game that same legendary puma is gonna be somewhere on that map (if you never kill it on single), which seems incorrect. 3. About animals respawning in about 6 in-game days. This one is a complete mystery to me as I've witnessed the following. Killing an animal in a single-animal need zone and the next in-game day there is another animal in that zone. Or killing the only male in a herd results in a new male in the herd soon enough. If said animal has not respawned yet, then where does that new animal come from? Does it come from another herd, thus maybe leaving that one without a male? I've joined Discord and would love to hear a pro's response if you do get the time here or there. Thanks again for the great videos!

Hi Jaxy Beard, long time since I've written a comment to you, how you doin? So my question has been answered, animals do resporn but to add to that, I can confirm that if you find great spot to put a large round hide, the animals appear to get use to it and later in the simulator, you can go back to it and fire at will... Okay, the truth is, well, I forgot to pack it back up and continued tracking a coyote. Set base near its home and then got chased by a bear... Forgot about my hide. But hey, it works. The animals ignored it and I shot me loads of credits to spend on more fire power. Mr Jaxy Beard, I've got myself addicted to another Simulator. I've not played CotW in months probably, 6 months now. I was reintroduced to a Simulator I've not played in years and started my journey back in 1984. Yes, I've been married to Elite Dangerous: Horizons for the past 6 months. I can't stop playing it. Problem is, I miss CotW and played it for a little while at 4am this morning. Yeah I'm all up to date because of my season pass and here's something for you to laugh at, I purchased the new park, Te Awaroa' in New Zealand forgetting I've got the season pass. Stuuuuupiiiiiid! I have to admit Mr Jaxy, it felt good being back in the CotW even if it was for just 2 hours. If I may, I'll call on you soon and go for walk and see what we can find because I have a Mic now. I splashed out on some decent looking gaming wired surround sound headphones. I got a right bargin, the headphones retail at £120.00 but I got my pair in a 24hr sale from Amazon for £45.49 including p&p. Sweeeet! So, if your up for it, I'll give you a shout sometime. Superb video, with some excellent insight into how respawns work so thanks a lot for this, JaxyBeard. I wonder, though, after 2.0 as far as Respawn Times go. When you say 3 to 6 days for an animal to respawn, does that mean that that's 3 to 6 days of time spent in that same hunting Reserve that the animal was killed in? Or is it 3 to 6 days total, regardless of which reserve those are spent in? As in, can I shoot a musk deer in Medved, then leave immediately after killing it and go to Vurhonga and spend 3 days there, then travel to Parque Fernando and spend another 3 days there finally to return to Medved where my musk deer will have respawned since 6 days have elapsed since it was shot?

I have a question. I hunted the goats nesr unitah outpost at lake. I got so many I lost the need zones and haven't seen the goats and the area isn't purple. Will they come back?

The whole theory around killing diamonds in multiplayer and having them spawn in single player. Wasn’t that addressed a while back❓Remember the update that prevented players from stacking need zones in multiplayer and having those need zones transfer back to their personal single player maps❓Wasn’t this method you speak of here changed at that time as well❓

I dont believe so, it was still happening for alot of our community myself included. That update made it so that since we couldnt get others need zones we couldnt get their diamonds on our maps. Those were the glory days lol. What I cant confirm is if this is still current since 2.0 I havent tried it since then

JaxyBeard does/did this only work on diamond animals or also give you respawns for max weights that didn’t score diamond?

What exactly means (lets take) 6 days? What days, EW days as I understand. If a map is empty what shall I do on this map? Walk around for 6 EW days? Really? I think skipping the time by sleeping in a hut is not the solution? Isn't it? So what can I do on an empty map for 6 long EW days? It is boaring anyways without animals, but I should do nothing 6 days long? I am asking, because my Layton and Yukon is nearly empty. How can I get back my animals?

I watched several mule deer spawn in out of no where on silver ridge peaks, unfortunately all were does

Is there a disadvantage if you only play 1-3 hours at a time? Do animals respawn everytime you load into a reserve? Am I getting a "new deck of cards" everytime I play or does the same "deck" stay in place? I've harvested a few diamonds, I'm just curious if it's a refresh everytime I play and if that may create a disadvantage.

I didnt know that they respawn in the same weight class, are you sure?

Question I am on Xbox I started a mission and then was killed by wolf and now can not go any further in the mission how do you restart a mission
@toddmfd4 жыл бұрын
So I should be harvesting the level 1 bucks MORE to get them to respawn to a higher level. All my need zones are just a very few animals in them. I never see “herds”.

Doesn’t that leave room for exploitation if this is how the respawn system works? For example. If I spot a Diamond potential animal and I mess up the shot, or accidentally use the wrong caliber for example, and that animal dies. I could simply avoid harvesting that Diamond potential animal just to get another crack at it when it respawns. Is this correct?

DJB 204 yes I did it before on an elk multiple times...the gun (I don’t remember what one) didn’t have the penetration to get double lung at that distance. This was before all the changes when you needed 100% quick kill. Also after around 5 tries I gave up and claimed it, hoping to get full quick kill. Welp it was close but nope😂 botched diamond.

Hope that makes sense...

@jaxybeard when it comes to respons of animals, if you kill a female does it come back as a female, or when killing a male does it come back as a male.

I wonder, do the animals always re-spawn as the same sex? I usually take out the males and leave the females on Deer, but if the female kills also have a chance to come back as a male, then that might change my game plan.

Great video 😊. Is there really a link between discovered need zones and the number of animals on the map?
@JaxyBeard4 жыл бұрын
There is testing being done and it does in fact seem that there can be an increase of up to 15% total population. More testing is on going. The main purpose of need zones is to populate those areas. Meaning that more need zones in that area you will have a much better chance of seeing more animal's there at those times. So protect those zones!! Delete those zones and those areas will appear more barren. I will try to get another video out talking more in depth about this

Since the update I’ve been seeing a lot less animals. Today with 3 hours real time played I spotted 1 moose 1 whitetail. Noticed my atv is alot slower and handles different. Yesterday I found animals around a lake that were stuck and could not be killed. I’ve tried Layton lake, Yukon valley. If someone has a suggestion as to why my game is messed up I’d appreciate it

So I hunted whitetail with a friend on my map recently and we found a diamond whitetail. I let him shoot and harvest it. What you are saying now is it's still there on my map in singleplayer?
@lennard63453 жыл бұрын
I killed a diamond piebald rocky mountain elk and i failed the shot. I left my multiplayer server and came back in single player but it isnt there anymore. I didnt harvested it. So it should be still there. Can they switch needzones or is he just despawnt?

Greetings my friend How up to date is this information? I've been told that it changed but can't find a relatively up to date post regarding the respawns.

This is very current. Only difference is the 3 day respawn is actually the time it takes for them to move back to an area. They respawn right away
