I don't know how this particular company makes money. Their rice cookers just won't break. A vintage model from the same company has been in use in my family since before I was born, and the bloody thing is still going strong even till today!!

Don’t know how I got here to watch this video clip. Honestly, this rice cooker surely can last forever and built tough and good quality. I know every bit detail about this rice cooker because I was the product manager of this kitchen appliance product lines at Tatung Company located in Long Beach California. Personally, I am still cooking my rice everyday with same Tatung rice cooker, same exact one you see in video, that my parents bought 55 years ago. It NEVER EVER failed once on me throughout past 55 years. It still attaches to its original electrical cord, connector, internal parts, and shinny body paint, only except few dings and dents that’s all!

Works great if you pay attention to instructions. kzbin.infoUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia For those that complain about "mushy" or "wet" rice I suspect they are using the included cup to measure rice (which is really only 3/4 cup) and then putting in water using a separate measuring cup that is a full cup. This results in too much water and you will get mushy or wet rice and think it is not done. Just use the included cup for both rice and water, or your own measuring cup for rice and water according to your package directions. It will come out fine. I've used mine for years for brown and white rice. If your machine is bubbling white froth out of the steam vent then it means you should have rinsed your brand of rice first to remove some of the starch. Sheesh. Makes me wonder how people can cook well enough to feed themselves.

It’s actually a steam slow cooker. It used water as heat conductor , preventing inner pot directly contacting electric power high temperature heat pad. So your food will not experience any heat over 98~99 degree C. If you have experience on cooking canned soup (thick one, like chowder) over conventional stoves, you might experience burn in the button if u don’t stir it all the time while heating. This cooker doesn’t have to worry about it.

This is how Japanese rice cookers were in the 60s and 70s.

I've had both Aroma and Zojirushi rice cookers and I've never seen one that sits in a water bath. Japanese style cookers you just put the rice and water into the main pot, no water outside of the main pot.

@@289pinto me too. I was an exchange student 36 years ago. Watch the Japanology episode about rice cookers! They really make stories of everyday objects interesting!
