Giselle passed the saturday open audition which SM stan called it Lee Sooman's choice, because Sooman selected the participants from that audition. Karina does have solo gigs, SK’s government hired her TWICE during her first year to (1) promote Seoul with a mini series and (2) ambassador for SK’s M-Clean campaign. Even so, giselle was able to secure her spot in aespa because she's a good rapper, she's the best female rapper that SM has rn, it makes so much sense for the company to put her in the debut line, she completes their roles. And I was already looking out on smngg ever since the smrookies mmc era, while the girl trainees are talented, I could say that they don't really focus much on rapping and/or writing lyrics, then BOOM! giselle got in. As someone who followed the formation of the group predebut, the line up DID drastically change around the time that Giselle joined. That was when SM let go of very talented well know trainees like Koeun, Lami, Jungyeon & Hina. Really a shame tbh I was really looking forward to the tbh. But I think it's correlation, not causation. The girls that were let go have very clean, feminine images, not really tough girl crush ones. They don't fit what Aespa is now. So it's not Giselle's fault or the fault of any of the Aespa members. The more interesting question imo is if LSM has been planning the whole Kwangya lore for years and years and this group was also being planned for a few years before being scrapped, how would that AU girl group have fit into any of this?

I feel like the breaking point of scrapping SMNGG debut is something to do Ador-Hybe Ceo Min Heejin when she left SM. Her and SMNGG timing leaving SM is not a coincidence, the way how those trainees supports her screams she is partly responsible for them. Then New Jeans debut under her supervision proves that is the debut image of disbanded orig SMNGG. Giselle just happens to audition and passed at the right time when Aespa concept was replanning again by LSM and she fits the image of the metaverse.

So in that sense, SM is definitely not picking her up to be an aespa member because of her background, it's just that she happened to have the things or should I say "skills" that SM want the most from their girl trainees, which is rapping. SM is known for mostly focusing on their trainees' vocal and dance only until nct happened. In 2019 giselle got in, proving that she is a good rapper (she got the flow, the writing skills) then she got into the debut line up. Which make sense, considering how aespa is only consist of 4 members, SM would want a trainee that could hold their own position and not just a "so-so", SM want a main rapper so giselle is most definitely their best choice at that time

I'm Korean japanese from Japan and My sister went to the same school and to be honest all kids there speaks English to each other mainly, but they have education both in Japanese and English! The majority of the kids studying in sacred heart are japanese or half Japanese with some another asian country like japanese Korean or japanese Chinese or even japanese american.... But usually they have japanese citizenship too, japanese language is not a problem for them since at least one of the parents needs to speak japanese too be fully aware of the events of the school that include parents meetings and etc...the natural form for Korean people living in Japan to learn Korean is interesting with the family, not every Korean Japanese knows how to speak Korean but they always know japanese, but I've never seen my Korean japanese friends families putting their kids to learn Korean we always learn with parents and relatives etc!!!! There are another expensive school in Tokyo as well not only the sacred heart but the tuition are the same for full japanese kids and mix japanese kids too. Giselle being a half Japanese doesn't make any difference in the tuition

Just my opinion it’s a long text so don’t read it if you’re going to complain about the length of it. I’ve seen comments talking about how Giselle got to debut easily and didn’t train as hard as the other members because of her background and her family having money. So Yes and no. Yes she didn’t train as LONG as the other members but no because if she debuted it means that she was ready to and/or that she was the final piece of the puzzle to complete the group. They were just waiting for a real and good rapper who could also sing to complete the group AND who got along with the members who were already in the line up. No need for them to be best friends right away since competition among trainees is common and chances of making friendships are low ( not impossible though Karina and Winter have been friends for a long time now.) so just getting along with each other was already a good beginning. For big companies making money is important. And for big and known company, like sm, they need to make money while producing good artists. Coming from a rich family won’t affect your treatment and won’t make you debut earlier IF YOU’RE UNTALENTED. As I said previously they need to make good sales. If parents bribe the company to make debut their children in a group as soon as possible and that child can’t neither sing rap or dance he/she will be the hole of the group and drag down the other and the image of the company at the same time. Again I’m talking about huge companies not little one. + SM’s last debuted a girl group in 2014. Aespa is their first gg after 6 years and y’all have to admit that Giselle is a good addition to the group. She can sing, rap (a real rapper not some idol who were added to a group bc of their visual or charisma and dance and since they can’t sing at all they labeled them as ✨rapper✨) and write her own stuff. She’s not just put here to act pretty I mean we’re talking about SM and they have high standards for gg. With that being said the only advantage of having a wealthy background would be for the debt part. You guys know that since the company spends money on trainees, Food, dorm(if they can’t live with their family), teachers, etc… those trainees will have to paid them back one day whether they debut or not. So if you’re a trainee from a “poor” background who trained for let’s say 5 years, but you’re tired and doesn’t want to do this anymore if you leave your family have wasted money and/or still have to paid the debt towards the agency for some more years even though you gave up (but it’s not the company’s fault anyway). Now if you’re from a rich background and couldn’t debut your family can just pay the debt at once (if they add any) and go on with their life. End lmaooo.

@@katgreer6113 i don’t know myself since I’m not a trainee but it’s either they use the debt system (like they pay for every expenses of the trainees, leaving, cafeteria, etc…) and the family needs to paid back at some point like a loan or it’s a monthly payment like Netflix but expensive and instead of watching movies you need to train lmaoo

SM trainees don't have debt. I think because sm pays for the trainees using the money they have earned But I have read that trainees have 2 year contracts and if you want to leave before contract ends then you have to pay

In any case if you have money it’ll be easier to get out if you can’t hold for 2 years. But here it’s just for sm I guess less known/small company do that debt thing since they aren’t rich.

Yeah, they're rich, ok? So? The rest kpop idols are mostly from rich family😑 (why with some negative sounding comments down here?) And also, money can't buy talent. And yeah, if you want to improve your talent, you need money to have a professional teacher or a good classes. (And, if you want to have a good skin like Korean, it's fortune I tell you)
