I have to dispute the absolute that cats cannot be herded. During my childhood, we had a miniature collie and 3 cats. Without training, the collie instinctively knew how to herd, and when it was time to bring the cats back in for the night, telling him "get the kitties" was sufficient to send him out looking for the cats, circling them, and pushing them to the door until they all came in. Watching his herding instincts in action is one of my fondest childhood memories.

I love this, because herding cats and a lead balloon are both equally, fascinatingly absurd. Lead is highly malleable. Cats are the physical embodiment of, "Nope!"
