Pixar finally did it! They released the first official look at Inside Out 2, and with it, fans finally got to see how Riley was doing as she continued to grow up after the first film. More importantly though, the trailer dropped a bombshell in the form of four new emotions that Riley would have to cope with throughout her life. But what the trailer didn’t tell you, is how those new emotions came to be, and why they’re just now appearing in Riley’s command center. Don’t worry though, I’ve got you covered!

Yea, but at the end of the first movie, they kinda just brushed it off. Joy even said "its probably not important," basically saying their not acknowledging it that's just my take tho

What I wanna know is exactly where were the 4 emotions up until this point. Like were they just sitting in a small dark room waiting for a signal. Were they in some sort of cryo sleep in a small dark room. Where were they all this time.

They probably haven't developed like the other ones, but as Riley grew, they started to develop, then they were probably already fully ready when she was 12 or 12 and a half, and when she finally reached the proper age of puberty, they were like "Now is our moment, we were made for this moment and beyond." But that's just my opinion

@@gamesarefun9380 yea, probably, I mean, I believe that's how it worked for me lol. Because I may have already had emotions and mental illness as a child, but it wasn't until I was in middle school I started getting anxiety and stuff lol

I think the new emotions will eventually merge together with the original five, making them more complex instead of basic emotions :)

Envious, Embarrassment, Anxiety and Ennui. I have to say I'm shocked they didn't make one "Romance". Ennui makes sense: at first glance I'd assumed it was apathy but then remembered that's really a lack of emotions, ennui is a muxh better choice. Anxiety, however, seems to fall well within the acope of fear. While anxiety doesn't have to be based in fear, we know that her emotions can mix, and you mix fear in with Joy you get that bubbly anxiety, you mix it with anger and you get panic, etc. For a teenager it seems like eomance would make more sense, though I guess this is still a movie for children. Feels like Disgust and Envious will start of distrusting one another but end up bffs

Seems legit. As someone who's going to turn 36 just a tad over a week after this film's release, this is something I'd highly recommend to members of Generation Alpha, which is the name used to describe the wave currently experiencing their childhood years, as a cautionary tale that being a teenager isn't all it's cracked up to be, which was something I obviously had to learn the HARD way as a teen myself, because I just hit that age bracket right around the time the 9/11 attacks occurred!

It also makes you wonder why each parent only had the four base emotions in view on their end. Are they emotionally stunted?

It could be that these are more wild, unstable emotions. You know, the kind you have as a teen. Maybe once they "finish" their job of helping Riley grow, they brush their hands and leave to the break room, only to come out when required. Like the back up crew.
