i have huge expectations for riots mmo. their business plan is one of the most F2P friendly on the market, mostly making their money from cosmetic purchases. they produce good music, they even made a netflix show that was great. riot as a company just have excellent taste in general, and they'll bang through their mmo project as well, no doubt.

They've indeed set a high bar with their business model. It's nice to see a company focusing on cosmetics, which lets us enjoy the game without feeling like we're missing out if we don't spend. Plus, Riot's knack for creating memorable soundtracks and their success with Arcane just shows they know what they're doing. I'm right there with you, confident that they'll bring this same energy and taste to their MMO project because let's be honest.. They need to 😅. Can't wait to see how it all turns out. I know it will be good, but will it be outstanding? I'll hope for the best, but expect the worst. The MMO scene is so vast and wide with how many styles and types there are now. I don't see any dev, even Riot, being able to cater to every MMO type community. F2P friendly =/= great game. I have faith riot will put out something good, but I'll wait to be surprised if they really do release a top banger.

they spent a year working on the pilot episode of arcane and when the producer took it to the leads @ riot the response was to scrap it and restart because it didn't live up to their standards. they're dedication to quality is admirable.

That's an interesting point. It's true and also a natural reaction for some to "resist" change, especially when they've invested a lot into something. But at the end of the day, it's all about change and innovation. I would love to see more people being open-minded and that they would welcome new things a bit more. For me, it's more like the beauty of gaming lies in its diversity as I play many different games (if I have the time that is 😅), or at least I give it a shot if I like what I'm seeing. Yes Arcane was my introduction to LOL. I play mlbb and love the social interaction via Mobas. I'm actually looking forward to more cinematography from Riot as the Characters are so rich in Lore and due to my work lifestyle I don't have much time to play the game and learn however I like the Netflix series as I get a condensed impactful version of the backstories and relationships between the characters.

Hey! Thank you! Appreciate the kind words. To answer your question, I use a mix of tools to create my videos. I started off learning Illustrator, which I use to draw most of the elements you see. After that, I bring these elements to life using After Effects. I'd say it's about 50% After Effects, 15% Illustrator for the design part. I use Premiere Pro for the rest, like editing and putting everything together. It's a bit of a process, but I love every bit of it. Hope that answers your question! 🙂

Super high quality video, good job! On KZbin, whenever you click a video and then realize its from a channel that has 5k or less subs it instantly lowers your expectations, and most of the time its because they don't really know what there doing yet and the video comes out a bit sloppy, but in a rare case, you will find a diamond in the ruff, like this video. (super small note, just a tinny bit of constructive criticism, there was a bit of repeated arcane footage that felt a little jarring to see twice. It's not just about the immediate profits, but about the rich lore and the world-building they can test and develop there. This has a value that's hard to quantify in dollars and cents I'd say. as long as the MMO has trading with other players, it will be a good mmo. all i wanna do is grind, find loot, wear the loot. and sell excess loot so i can buy more loot. other things would be nice that's standard in mmo; quests that get you a mount, the ability to level up some sort of worthless activity you can do with other people, mini games, partquests, i remember fishing, chopping trees, mining and burying bones in osrs, thousand of hours grinding in maplestory, trying out new builds in guild wars 2, exploring the world in wow, doing dungeons in ffxiv, if they can recapture that sort of gameplay loop into one game, ill pay.

Absolutely! Trading with other players is a crucial aspect of an MMO in my opinion. It adds depth and interaction to the game. And of course, the thrill of grinding, finding loot, and wearing it is what makes MMOs so "addictive" in a sense. Quests, mini-games, and other standard features are definitely important too. It sounds like you have great knowledge of different MMOs, and I hope this game can capture that same if not even a better gameplay loop. I'm with you, I'd gladly pay for that.

What gives me hope is that when Riot announced their shooter game aka Valorant , they started closed beta test then releasing the game in less than a year. So, perhaps when they officially reveal their MMO, it won't take as many years as it does with other developers.

I wouldn't mind a subscription model but, instead of buying a month of game time and having it based on IRL time I would make it so that your subscription timer only starts ticking when you log into the game. That way you wouldn't feel forced to play like WOW. You buy some time, play few hours with friends, go on vacation for a year, come back and still have your game time.

That's a pretty innovative idea for a subscription model - kind of like a 'play as you go' system. It's definitely something developers could consider to make gaming more flexible for our varied lifestyles. But I know that they want to create the fear of missing out (Fomo). So it's highly unlikely.. I actually tackle this topic in my next video, so I hope I see you there again. Always good to have some open discussions. 🙂

I think the Marc's quote most likely is due to Riots willingness to abandon quite a bit of finished work and start over, when they don't have the feeling that the project is going in the right direction. Something that does often lead to more quality.

I think the commitment interview is quite telling, as you said: "they are committed to TRY and make an mmo". It might mean they never release it, but they'll always try. Maybe in 2-5 years, they'll release the concept built when Ghostcrawler was around will be scrapped. However, it just means they will try again and again untill they eventually succeed (at least I think they will succeed sometime, given the polish their games have as you also stated).

Ideas evolve, get discarded, reshaped - it's all part of the creative process. But as you said, they're known for their crazy attention to detail and the high-quality polish of their games. Whether it's one that is for me and my playstyle / genre, I'll at least try it out and I'm excited to (when that game one day comes out, fingers crossed)!
