The cries and whispers and possession influences make me smile as those are two films that really inspired me! I still need to actually watch this movie but it does look amazing, and I’m glad to know they shot it on film. Period pieces done in digital just make everything look so phony to me

Nice analysis! I actually think the look of The Favourite is very much reminiscent of The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover. The way the characters are shown going from room to room, or the centred shots of several characters doing their thing while the camera is rolling and not moving.

Good video but why would shooting on film if it was set in the 1700s be in any way more authentic?

I have the exact opposite opinion. I think "the favorite" looks good but quite average. 😅 And on the other hand all the other yorgos lanthimos's movies shot with Thimios Bakatakis are visually brilliant
