I think it's really cool that Rory takes giving tips seriously. Regardless of how many times he's explained it or how easy it is for him, Rory is a true professional and is kind and open-minded about these videos.

Excellent. Thank you TaylorMade and Mr McIlroy.-The flatness of the landing point is part of the calculation I forget. The grain of the grass is not even on my radar. But most telling, even Rory, a seasoned pro at the highest level, has to remind himself “not to get too cute and just give yourself a putt.” Guilty.

These Taylormade guys are probably obligated to make content so they might not really want to do these videos. Having said that it seems like Rory is actually interested in showing people how to make these shots. It’s really cool and shows some humility, like he doesn’t have to keep his game a secret.

I dread these chips and often stuff them into the bunker so most important thing I take from this video is get the ball on the green priority for me as I'm a good putter and rarely three putt so maybe not try being too cute and get it real close just get it over the sand onto the putting surface

“Next time you chip, just remember these 10 easy things” 😕
@auriferous44623 жыл бұрын
You never have to think about 10 things. On all short shots: you always choose a landing spot, you always visualize trajectory, you always make a club selection (including whether to open up more loft or keep square), you (almost) always have ball to the front of your stance, you always have more weight on left foot. The thing about right shoulder is a feeling that he says works for him, you might need something else :)

Having only ever played on standard grass I really don’t get all this grain talk. Please just go to a municipal course we’re the conditions would match the bigger percentage of the players who watch these vids. We all love those manicured courses but honestly I’ll probably only ever play a handful. I want to know what rory would do when he plays a course 99% of use would be able to get on.
@brianr66613 жыл бұрын
Grain comes into play when you play on bermuda grass. If you play any golf in the south you will have to deal with grain. It isn't a course condition issue. Besides, nicer courses employ techniques to lessen or mitigate the grain, such as mowing from different directions every day. The lower end muni's are just going to cut the grass with no more thought about it and grain will be out of control until they verticut to remove the thatch layer, if they ever do that at all.
@TheRealWarez3 жыл бұрын
I live around central east coast and play public courses... just come down here and play a round. I guarantee you will understand all this talk about grain! :)
