Why yall keep calling Sporting Lisbon?! Do your homework it is so annoying dislike 👎🏼 😊
@altacc53567 ай бұрын
@@pysiters Because is common saying the name of the team and from where it, when just the name is not enough to identify the team. The Portuguese also do it with other teams. Portuguese don't do it with Sporting because they just call it Sporting and everyone there knows what they mean... but they say "Vitória de Guimarães" or even call it "Guimarães" when Guimarães is not a part of their name. With their neighbours Spain they always say Atlético de Bilbao, where Bilbao is not on the name of the team (zerozero for ex. says the name of the club is "Athletic Club de Bilbao" and is not correct). There are many other examples...

I get the idea of using players on the wing to open up space to pass through the halfspaces, but I'm seeing way too many cases not just in the prem of fullbacks having clean opportunities to deliver great crosses and opting to pass backwards. I don't like seeing it and I think getting greedy for higher value chances is one step forward and one step back. When crosses start happening it's typically teams getting desperate for a goal instead of a carefully crafted chance.

Thing is: We have been playing alot through the wing backs because teams are desperate do defend the middle against us. So yes, we use them as decoys but Amorim found a way for them to be one of our most important players on attack
@javorgeorgiev61307 ай бұрын
@@Luke-Hiles With Man United it's more of the fullbacks overlapping for nothing. The wingers come inside the halfspace, fullback overlaps high onside, winger either passes back to the holding midfielder/Bruno, or shoots into a wall of bodies from the edge of the box. If Bruno gets it, he'll try to compensate for the poor creativity and attempt a Hollywood pass, or shoot it into the seats. It doesn't help that the only really good crossers in that team are Dalot and Shaw and they rarely receive the ball when there's a good opportunity for it. Man U wingers all want to carry it in and shoot while the fullbacks don't even get passed to. All of that is not strictly a Man U thing though.
@isahibrahim741422 күн бұрын
Teams aiming to have more control of the ball or manage risks aren't going to cross the ball into the box unless it's an almost guaranteed goal cus if you then surrender possession in that case more often than not you now find yourself under a counter attack, it's not so much greed for high value chances as it is not taking too much risks unless you're guaranteed the reward

@miguelteixeira19797 ай бұрын
You missed that Sporting PORTUGAL usually plays a crocked 4-4-2. Rarely you will see Catamo and Nuno Santos playing at the same time. What happens is that in fact the 3-4-3 where on one of the side assumes a more defensive position working as an almost 4 in the back, while the other joins the attack. Also Pedro Gonçalves, which plays a lot more often than Paulinho, plays as an out of position 10, giving balance in to the middle field and creating doubt in the wing. If you watch the latest game against Benfica you will see how he has the role of blocking Di Maria when he lays deep to launch the attack. Rotation is not the key in Amorim's approach, rather balance and patience. When pressed playing to Gyokeres is key to stretch the opposition and produce goals in counter attack.
@sandisongwenya46677 ай бұрын
Sounds alot like how Liverpool has been playing, also the same problems that have haunted us. With the solid team and a few reinforcements for aging players I think it wouldn't take too long for Liverpool players to adapt to his tactics.
@domainmojo21627 ай бұрын
Yep. Reason why is that our football - all throughout the club, has had Portuguese influences since FSG appointed Inglethorpe back before Brendan. Yes it was shaped by Inglethorpe and Ljinders who are not Portoguese, but they are both strong proponents of portoguese football- and with Pep being the assistant manager- you can see the portoguese influence on the pitch. Pep spent 11 years as assistant coach at Porto alongside millionaire heir and playboy, turned football manager- Andre Villa-Boas. If you look at our players also- we love portoguese-speaking/influenced players as well- from Firmino, to Thiago, to Jota, to Allison, etc.. It seems FSG has ideintified this as the brand of football that closely resembles the football associated with Liverpool traditionally(the "Collective" is the sum of the individuals), and that gets our supporters fired up. For all the criticism I sometimes give them- they do know how to run an organization and how to make excellent appointments, that will in turn also make excellent sub-appointments. All recreated in FSGs image.

I don’t know man. ETH really made Ajax great with such amazing tactics. He came to United and can’t even implement his tactics because players are just too lazy to press and move without the ball, worse, they just can’t apply any tactics. United don’t even look close to ETH’s Ajax side. Comes in Ruben Amorim, I wonder how he’s gonna get the players to play for him. Too many babies in the squad that can’t be criticised. One baby is loaned to Chelsea. After being given months of absence to attend to his mental health, only for him to throw his toys out like a toddler after being called out by ETH.

Finally, somebody with a healthy brain. There's a lotta decay at United and Erik Ten Hag tried to fix it. Erik Ten Hag is known for being too strict and a disciplinarian, buh when he does what he's hired for, the plastic fans moan. I'm actually happy for Erik to finally be outta that environment. I feel for the next guy honestly
@amirianozakwano22 күн бұрын
@@LeslieMathula I really hope, players that are not performing and lazy, will be held accountable by the management. I really start to feel that the virus in the squad is led by none other than Mr MBE himself. Despite his poor performances, he will always start. He will walk around and not wanting to press. He just rubs off such bad influence on other players. Look at Arteta as an example, he got rid of Aubameyang and other players. His first 2 seasons, he got Arsenal playing like a defensive counter attacking style. It was so weird why Arteta, an assistant of Pep and a student of Wenger, play his team so differently. When he finally got rid of the deadwoods and got players that suit his tactics, Arsenal took off. United under Amorim is a start of a proper rebuild. Sporting clubs win not only because of their players. Its because of their top management. Hopefully United don't back their players when Ruben Amorim is having difficulties with the players.
@NubisKubis-gc9if21 күн бұрын
True but then again, we need to remember that ETH wasn't fully backed by the Glazers and previous management like when he was at Ajax. When ETH was at Ajax, he had a fallout with Noa Lang who was considered one of the best talents for a long time, but Ajax backed ETH and get rid of Noa. When ETH had a fallout Sancho, United board didn't back ETH and told him to tone down his attitude. Because of that, many players lost their respect and knew that they have power over the manager = Player FC. But under INEOS, the players are no longer safe. They get rid of Sancho and gave ETH time to fix things even though ETH is not their first choice for a manager. Now that INEOS are getting the manager they wanted, they will be 100% behind him and for the next few months, those babies at United will be under scrutiny. If they don't perform under Amorim, they are out in the summer.

I think Chelsea should definitely go to Amorim because they need to rebuild a style of play and they have a squad that is too bloated to build a specific strict structure. Ruben can make a good meal out of that soup, and his tactical flexibility in the offensive line will positively reflect on the performance of players who like to play in free roles, such as Sterling, Madueke, Palmer.
@marcomartinscastanho5847 ай бұрын
I personally don’t think that analysing Sporting’s tactics based on the games vs Atalanta will give the clearest idea of how Sporting plays because, although we played Atalanta 4 times this season, they were by far the team who caused Sporting the most tactical difficulties, causing Amorim to slightly change the way Sporting plays in order to avoid Atalanta’s M2M marking. No team in Portugal plays like that, and Sporting doesn’t play against anyone as we have played against Atalanta. Apart from that, good video 👍

From a Liverpool fan Liverpool’s midfielders: Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai, Clark, Mac Allister, Elliott, Endo, Bajcetic, Morton, McConnel, Carvalho +/- Trent Liverpool have 11 midfielders to fit into a 2-man midfield with the Amorim formation of 343. Only Elliott really would work as a hybrid wide / inside forward CAM but Salah’s there, not even Carvalho because he doesn’t like playing wide at all as it’s a hybrid wide / 10 role and Szobo’s best position is in the RCM role in that no. 8 shirt which Klopp identified and he’s galactico level there. Moving him back to an inside forward CAM is a downgrade, as Szobo is a complete midfielder. If playing Elliott Salah rotation you’d then rotate a winger with a hybrid inside forward CAM on the other side. Whenever Salah starts it would maybe be ruling out Diaz, whenever Elliott starts it rules out Salah ….. meaning we’d only play with 2 forwards now plus this is all reliant on a left wing back or right back playing wide and high. Let’s be honest we know Trent doesn’t want to spend the rest of his career out on the right especially far right width if Salah or Elliott are there, Trent wants to play central… and even if he accepts a more central RWB role it means the right side Salah or Elliott will have to play out wide which neither want….. Right now we can easily rotate 11 midfielders into a midfield 3 and that’s what all top teams currently utilise, 433 or 4141 or 4231 even. No CL semi final level team in Europe uses a back 3. Defending with a back 5 in a 523 is ridiculous for a top level European team? Amorim has to be flexible and not rigid if he comes to Liverpool and adapt to the squad to some degree. He can’t come in and say “this player fits my system, he stays and this player doesn’t, he changes or goes” Jurgen Klopp came to Liverpool and adapted TWICE tactically from his famous 4-2-3-1 in Dortmund. We had one 433 tactical system now we have a new 433 tactical system. Amorim wants his creative player of the double pivot to progress the ball quickly forward and only has 50-60 touches per game which is half of what Mac Allister should be having. 343 is a joke formation where we will use defenders over the midfielders who historically are the best players with the ball to be in possession and creative in the middle ? You want Kroos Casemiro Modric or Busquets Iniesta Xavi being the ones passing the ball around not defenders I’m sorry if you look at how involved the defenders of Amorim are. Klopp has done so well to bring in 11 midfielders all young bar Endo and a culture of rotation in the middle of the park providing depth and protection against crazy schedules players have. Amorim utilising 343 at Liverpool is a mistake. He just can’t be rigid latin like that. And we need a manager to come in who can play Trent centrally. Again do you think Trent wants to be that wing back out as far right as possible pushing very high up the field? Nope. Also what players actually want to be wing backs ? no elite level club use wing backs and using wing backs plus a back 3 takes away our midfielders in the centre that WE HAVE at Liverpool.. Everything for me about Amorim which isn’t football related fits Liverpool but the priority is football as we have the players, culture, structure, staff, stadium, academy, infrastructure. We need a good tactician who understands football very well Also Mac Allister said it himself his best position is at 10. He has the number 10 shirt. He didn’t sign for United because he’d be played alongside Casemiro with Fernandes ahead and he wanted Liverpool because he could play as a 10 his father talked about this. In a 433 he can rotate with Szoboszlai with who is higher up and who is deeper. Being a creative double pivot isn’t a 10 role. It’s a dead role in Amorim’s system for Mac Allister and is better suited to Trent because the number of touches the double pivot at Sporting plays is 50-60 which is low. Mac Allister again would want more touches but the position and again would be better for Trent as Amorim wants that position to quickly progress the ball with few touches, and it looks like the defenders get even more touches….. erm noo midfielders are best suited in their DNA to have the most touches moving the ball around by dribbling and passing…. Honestly how do we play in possession? A back 3, DM and a CM in a double pivot with 50-60 touches along with really high wing backs, fr? That’s like an ancient style or mid division negative football for teams that don’t have dominance and quality in the middle. Seriously people need to take off their rose tinted glasses and see this for what it is but it’s a reaction of trying to make ourselves feel better as we all deep down are so sad by Klopp leaving and it coming out of the blue 2 years and a half in advance But don’t blame Amorim or Alonso or Klopp but realise the management of the club didn’t have plans in place for post Klopp and with the unexpected announcement of Klopp to leave, no-one in the club clearly is / was prepared for post Klopp. If we had some targets lined up it would have been the situation to just bring them in earlier. Everything right now is damage control. Klopp’s character and work at the club we were just all in love with thinking only in the moment and the club wasn’t thinking about anything other than Klopp, and wasn’t prepared for the future IF Amorim comes in and IS flexible it will be the ideal scenario. A stroke of luck

@@ryanlee315 😂. From reading the comments of Meta Football's video on Xabi Alonso, Alonso avoids vertical lines unlike Amorim because it means the players will have their back to goal. Amorim using two vertical lines in the half spaces of the centre of the pitch in a 2422 is direct evidence of an inferior footballing brain of Amorim vs Alonso. Which is not good for Liverpool.

Hey Football Meta, I wanted to ask you that how many matches that you have to watch to analyze the whole system of a Coach, and what editing software do you use to edit these kinds of videos? Love your analysis bro.

Few mistakes in the video: - Its Sporting or Sporting Clube de Portugal - Altough Paulinho has scored many goals this season he hasn't played very often, Sporting doesn't play with a second striker but the wings collapse onto de middle. Its Pedro Goncalves that has been playing in the left, sometimes even Trincão when Edwards is playing well - Even though you are correct that Sporting is most exposed when plays are interrupted in the middlefield, most of sporting league goals came from set pieces, which is odd since Amorim uses this tactic for a few years now and this is the only year where its showing that weakness

Everything sounded great(and similar to ETH) until that last point about intercepting passes into the midfield being a weakness, our players struggle with pass accuracy and I can just see us conceding many goals when they try but fail to follow the managers instructions to play through the middle.
@femi_danjuma22 күн бұрын
I was thinking same while watching this video, he'll need to sell the entire team cos apart from Eriksen, Martinez and De Ligt, the rest can't pass which will lead to a lot of turnovers.

Tbh Atalanta are a very good counter attacking side their free flowing quick one touch pass going forward and very direct are really really good… proves they beating Liverpool 3-0 away from home.. especially when you played high defensive line like Sporting and Liverpool you will be exposed.. defensively Atalanta are very patience and not rushing to get the ball..

I think one of his best assets is his adaptability, he has always used the 3-4-3 but he has changed the way he plays a lot, in his 2020 title run he resorted to slow build up, wing play and defense focused football, and now in 2024 he has a much more paced attacking and central playstile, which is proven by the stats.

@@andrewwright4195 Always a 5 at the back without the ball, the 1st line of pressure usually changes depending on the opponents, sometimes 5-4-1, sometimes 5-2-3, even saw 5-3-2 in some instances

What they could try to strengthen their midfield overload is continuing to push one of their cbs into midfield as a dm during sustained possession as well, not only in build up. If they lose the ball, they can thus also counter-press more effectively with a defender pressing as well.
