Bacardi rum isn't a Puerto Rican rum. It's Cuban. It's not too bad but, the stuff is for the tourists. I lived on the island for ten years and wherever I go I always ask what the locals prefer. The following are not only the best rums in the world but are the rums that Puerto Ricans drink. 70 percent of the rum sold in the U.S. comes from Puerto Rico; it's the island's chief export. It's also part of the island's history. Juan Ponce de Leon first brought Creole sugar cane rootstocks from La Española (Dominican Republic) in 1506. The first sugar mill was established in Añasco in 1517. Rum production began in the 1650's, a byproduct of the sugar cane industry on which Puerto Rico made its early living. Here's a list of the real deal. 1. Don Q - favored by many locals as the best rum in Puerto Rico. The company that produces this rum (Serralles) also produces Captain Morgan which although it says "A product of Puerto Rico, it's really a Jamaican recipe. A novelty rum. 2. Ron del Bariilito - the "Cognac of the Caribbean," is a blend of rums aged six to 10 years in charred oak barrels. 3. Palo Viejo - another variety hard to find outside the island, and is a favorite for classic drinks like coquito, the Puerto Rican egg nog. 4. Ron Llave is a traditional, mellow rum available in light or dark grades. And finally there’s Ron Caña, which isn’t actually rum, but a similar liquor made from sugarcane; it’s the local equivalent of moonshine. All of them are light years better than "Bat Rum" (Bacardi) which never touched my lips again after I had the real rums of PR.

Heru- deshet Fuck you, Bacardi is the only real rum!
@Apolac3 жыл бұрын
Many think it's a Puertorican rum because PR is the main, if not the only only, that exports it to the main land. Maybe that's why many think is a Puertorican rum, and the fact that it's produced there too.

Would have loved to seen about the 8 or the reserve limited bacardi!

If THAT'S how they distill it, no wonder it tastes like it does... That style of still extracts practically all of the congeners from which rum gets its flavor.
