The AutoRune "Dupe" glitch was not patched within hours, it went on for days. Jagex did not understand how the bug worked so they could not patch it they lied about giving out free membership for life so someone would tell them. Someone told them they fixed the bug and banned the user that told them. Other than that, good video.

You got it mixed up. Jagex offered free membership but not for this glitch. They did it for the PATH glitch. Thats the one they didnt understand and that when on for weeks untill someone told them, banned him and patched it.

The dupe glitch actually still has a visible effect on Party Hat prices to this day. In RSC the blue phats were the most common and thus cheapest, while the pink phats (today purple) were the most rare and thus most expensive. Most dupers opted to dupe the most expensive items, and so a flood of purple party hats flooded the game. Since they're the most common, to this day Purple Party hats are the cheapest. And Blues, since they were duped the least and are the most rare, are the most expensive; even though it used to be the exact opposite. (Oct 2017 street prices: out of date but relatively recent and demonstrative of the trend) purple: ~9b yellow: ~9.5b green: ~10.3b red: ~12.3b white: ~17b blue: ~22.5b Just some triva

Blue was not the cheapest, it was 2nd right behind magenta, I believe it was yellow-> red -> white / green -> blue -> pink. I traded 2 blues for a pink a few weeks before the dupe for a total of around 18 million, where as I bought my first red for around 1-2 mil

Somewhat. There are a lot of people and a lot of bot farms that make and use their own custom bots because they’re harder for Jagex to detect and ban. Some eventually get discovered and banned but there are also some that are able to operate for a very long time without being detected. If you’re using your own custom bot script then you’re probably much less likely to get caught as long as you aren’t using common code from other bots. And further, if you are smart about how long you run each individual bot for then that also helps to avoid detection. Having an account play for 20 hours a day every day will increase your risk as opposed to only running it for maybe 8 hours a day. I’d imagine that they probably all get detected eventually, but the one’s running custom scripts are able to go undetected for far longer than those using publicly available scripts.

Haven't watched much so far: Always interesting to hear what info others have compiled about these things. I first started programming when I found SCAR and was an admin on RaW's AutoRune forum(post-kaitnieks). I wrote a lot of AR scripts and was able to get access to a couple non-public bots by the AutoRune maintainer(evo) at the time. One was ixbot which was a client that ran Java scripts(like current day bots do, not too long after this sbot came out). The other was 'shellbot' which was basically a server running headless clients. You could upload a configuration(character user/pass, what script, when to take breaks etc.) and have your bots run on that server. It was really ahead of it's time. It sounds like you used Kaitnieks' site a fair bit for the information. I'm not sure but did you run across 'The Little Black Book of RuneScape Cheating'? Edit: You said that after Kaitnieks sold the source which got stolen AutoRune was over. That's not entirely true. The version that RaW paid to have updated lasted years.

Besides the mod mark, i knew most of this. I did however try powerminer in rs2 once but when I went to get a drink and got back in 15 minutes I noticed I was killed and lost my just brand new Rune Pickaxe. I bare that scar ever since and never touch a bot again.

I say this not as a troll but as a former player of RuneScape who is now nearly 28. I enjoyed the game, in fact I loved it I loved so much about this game and for the longest time I never cheated. It really wasn't until the phasing to EOC did I cheat, originally it was just key-binds that stacked my skills in the most effective ways to maximize damage in PvE over time I got bored and started actually botting. I did it for a period of time just testing PvP build's and combo's people never really did. It wasn't very fruitful and to be far I didn't enjoy cheating I just seen it as a time saver, I was probably ... honestly I couldn't guess my age but you can use my age listed above and look at the release date of EOC and around that time. I did start seriously botting tho, never did it for gold/farming I don't think I ever earned any in game gold directly (in regards to botting for gold) I did however make $ off the skilled I botted with for end game content. I've ever only had 1 skill cape (untrimmed prayer cape ftw) all of which was earned off flipping and merching. I remember a 3 day period where I botted a monster (not going to say the name to encourage it) and in that 3 day period I went from 70 attack/strength/def to 90-95 in each of those skills I was happy I got what I wanted and I don't believe I ever botted out of that. Well by this time I was bored of RuneScape again (I mostly picked it up to play one day when bored and I ran into so many old school friends who still had their accounts and played very good feeling). My brother tho went off to college and his friends played he asked me if I had any account's he could borrow and I lent him my untrimmed prayer cape account (figured they where just low level players as the group often switched games) thought maybe he will have the best account (no they are all max level lol). Anyways they built script's as college stupids taking computer science and made some amazing stuff (enough to get max level accounts) my brother who wasn't in computer science tried his luck and got a few skill capes but ultimately got banned. I lost the account it is karma it happens not upset if anything I felt better about it as I no longer had any advantage from cheating and to be honest while at the time I enjoyed it botting just isn't worth it :)

I botted my way up to 10 mil by chopping yews (at 400 gold a piece at the time) and bought full zamorak, then one day I logged in as part of my annual nostalgia trip and ran into some guys that were clearly trying to scam me. I thought I could outsmart the scammers but ended up loosing my full zamorak. I still have 7 mil though and I'm not too upset about loosing the armor because after I botted all that money I never actually played the game. In fact I only ever legitimately played the game for a very short time when I was 12. I don't know why I ever even botted I had almost no interest in playing the game by that point. Sometimes I like to log on and give like 10k to low level players though so that's fun.

Wasn’t there a version of autorune made for rs2? I remember when I was playing back around ‘04-‘05ish that my main was around level 100 combat and a friend of mine had a similar level account except he had much higher skilling levels than I did because he had used autorune to bot them up. I remember him taunting me and bragging about how much better his account was than mine, then within like 2 weeks of him bragging and taunting me his account got banned for botting and I mocked him mercilessly for it. I’m pretty sure it was autorune that he was using but I could be misremembering.

They completely screwed everyone over. Prayer now counts toward your max level. Lvl 99 prayer is a lvl 25 character with 1 att and STR lmao. Plus they made it harder. Everything got a 10 to 30k increase towards the next lvl. Plus paid players get a new spell that 1 hits free players if they don't lvl hp. Trust me. The game is garbage now.

Are you honestly blaming the victim? It's their fault that people like you find their game so boring that you quit playing? No, you don't quit you just cheat because you want something you couldn't earn on your own. You are not supposed to reach max level in a couple of days. You are supposed to be able to keep growing while playing the game for a a few hours a week while keeping their subscription for months, or years. And why are you blaming RS for using a model most games use where you have to level up to unlock new abilities? And to level up you need to do certain tasks to show you use that skill. I made a stupid bot and all it did was put trade spam in a loop, which turned out to cause the person you spammed to lag out but they wouldn't be kicked from the server for a while, so they couldn't run from you in the wilderness. Every turned off trade requests after like 1 day though.

You lack all history since 2003 of autorune, and rs1(classic). Creation of plate pures when rs2 came out etc. re-releases of autorune, 2011/2012 jmod spawn and so on. Kaitnieks (Real name Aivars went on to create SCAR ( Shite Compared to AutoRune ) and was a color clicker which took on a life on its own etc. the start of rsbot for rs2 based on community members from AutoRune. and tons tons of more history.
