Top Geeky Shoetuber Award 🏆✅☺️ How about 1 video on your top 3 5K, 10K etc scattered thru the month 🤔

Thank you! Not sure I’ll manage with all the videos already planned but there will be at least one top3 video in the mix 😉

Loving the geeky topics. Keep them coming! Would love to see a matrix with the shoes you mentioned under the durometer scores. That would really help the runner understand their preferred “range” and consider new releases from other companies. I wish I could try them all.

Thanks Eric and great suggestion! There’s something coming next year that should partly address your suggestion 🙂

Hi Alex, I am wondering what type of durometer you are using. I recently got a pair of Deviate Nitro Elite (version 1) and my Shore A durometer score for Nitro Elite foam is significantly higher than yours. Mine is a different colorway than yours (White-Dark Slate-Fizzy Light). I did a pass over the group of shoes with my durometer and scores more or less correlate with what you published at Meta Endurance site but my Deviate Nitro Elite is more like 29-33 depending on where I take the measurement on the shoe.

@@AlexFilitti Already saw some great new releases from the Running Event in Austin. Puma, Asics, Hoka, "Craft", Reebok, Saucony - a lot of crazy and exciting stuff. 👍😎 Have a nice weekend, Alex.

The video topic is very interesting. Durometer data are sometime deceiving but an updated database/chart with foam type linked to every shoe model would be usefull. Ex: 1) model 2) proprietary foam name 3) foam type + foam ingredients 1) Brooks Hyperion Tempo 2) DNA Flash 3) Supercritical EVA: CO2 injected EVA.
@Run4un2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Alex just gave us nice comprehensive summary of foam durometer, but I agree, the next/optimal meaningful use step would be to tack on the shoes utilizing said foams. For example, someone on DNA FLASH (Brooks) may find easier transition to another brand with similar foam (Skechers' Hyperburst). Please please do!🙃

I find the Co2 EVA gets harder with cold temperatures. (ie MaxRoad 5 and Hyperion Tempo.) Possible to make a short list of shoes that use what? It would be very useful/
@AlexFilitti2 жыл бұрын
EVA in general is sensitive to temperature changes! There’s something coming up early next year that should address your suggestion 🙂
@SofaKingA2 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right! The Maxroad 5 felt like I was running on light weight bricks in the cold temperature. I had to return them. I was not getting any energy return and my lower back started hurting as well after one run. I really wanted to like that shoe.
@jamesb.walker91772 жыл бұрын
@@SofaKingA Also felt he lower back problem, it is a shame as I had some pretty good runs on the summer with them. I still picking up the More V3 for lower speeds it is just such a nice comfortable ride and quite responsive too.

The ZoomX in the Next% 1/2 always behaved a bit weird for me. I have 3 pairs and they all feel slightly different to the touch and under foot. Not to mention the differences between the top and bottom layer.

I heard somewhere that they even had discrepancies between factories. So no doubt the end products could be quite different from one to another.

Alex now that you’ve explained that aspect of the foams. Tell us about how each one compresses and rebounds. I was always led to believe hoka was the king of softness on the pavement. But to be honest they seem to be heavier and not as plush softness as I read and heard about. Great channel

as you said it, "was" now there are tons of better option, the 2 "impact dampening" are the novablast, and the invincible (if you keep good form, as you can easily bottom out on them, but it's by far the softest)

are you using an Asker C device to measure durometer? the scores seem very low, I think you'd bottom out on anything below 40
@AlexFilitti2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rich, no I’m using a Shore A durometer. Not ideal but I compared my values against some references and I had limited discrepancies.
@Rich-zb7vc2 жыл бұрын
@@AlexFilitti I think Shore A is more for outsole hardness, but i guess the results in relationship to each other would be important, its a lot of work I'm sure
@AlexFilitti2 жыл бұрын
You're right the Shore A isn't ideal here and would work better for harder stuff. I may upgrade the whole testing setup but it's a "step by step" process. Thank you for the chat
@TolunayOrkun Жыл бұрын
Shore C is for harder material than Shore A. There is a KZbinr named "Tiffany Beers". She is a "Plastics Engineer and former Nike Innovator" who designed some of their shoes and she measures the midsole softness/hardness using a Shore A durometer. I'd say she knows what she is doing. So, Shore A is the right one to use for midsole.

It's the lower layer in the Vaporfly next% which is firmer. Probably for durability. The top layer is softer for a better step in feel.

@jakeb67032 жыл бұрын
man, instant subscribe for me after seeing durometer testing, so lovely to see (relatively) hard quantitative numbers on these foams, rather than the marketing info, qualitative reviews. many channels seem to be doing a pretty good job describing the actual chemistry of the foams, and the stack heights and drops but this feels like the next obvious step forward ; )
