Everybody loves to pretend that Russ has never been injured. If Mahomes gets injured, it’s all anyone talks about, and most of his injuries are over-exaggerated. People penalize Russ for having a very good but somewhat overrated defense. Mahomes has enjoyed one of the most loaded, explosive offenses ever (and an elite D this year), but everyone pretends that Mahomes is dragging teams into the playoffs and SBs. Russ walked into a team that had been 22-42 in the four seasons before his arrival, including back-to-back 7-9 seasons with the LoB and Marshawn Lynch (plus Matt Hasslebeck at QB), started as a true rookie and nearly led the Seahawks to a SB as a true rookie, winning two of three major ROY awards. Russ took his team to back-to-back SBs and should have won both. Mahomes took over a team that had been that had been 42-22 in the four years before he was drafted, after sitting behind Alex Smith as a true rookie. Mahomes won an MVP in just his second year in the league, his first as a starter, but lost all of his matchups with Tom Brady and lost all of his prime-time matchups, including a schooling by Russell Wilson. More importantly, Russ was arguably robbed of the MVP that year because, controlling for the difference in pass attempts, Russ stats and performances were nearly identical to those of Mahomes. He beat Mahomes’s Chiefs h2h, squarely outplaying Mahomes during that game (which he has now done in 4 of their 5 matchups), and had a better prime-time record with a lesser offense (e.g., an inconsistent O-Line and a badly banged up Doug Baldwin), and a lesser defense. Mahomes has also been escorted into multiple SBs by the refs…4 to be exact! I can go on and on about the Jedi mind trick being played on NFL fans, but let me just say this: comparing Mahomes and Russ is a lot like comparing LeBron to Magic Johnson. The former looks better until you look under the hood.

Russ did look better under Payton but the problem was that Payton was trying to tank. He threw a lot of games! That’s the real reason, other than Russ’s injury guarantee, that Payton wanted to bench him so badly. The Broncos wanted to get to Caleb Williams. When they saw how Russ started playing midseason, they wanted him off the field because they knew it would ruin their plans. If the Broncos brass and front office had had their way, they would’ve gone 1-16. No lie.

Look im a steelers fan yes but i look at this from a analysts view. Getting wilson makes sence. Hes good at play action and author smith is the play action god. With pickens and friemuth and a top rookie wr or a good free agent we add, combined with our top run game thats only gonna get better when we get a center and right tackle plus having smith call the plays and our top 5 defense got bettet already so i reallt think this is where he should be and will flurish. Superbowl #7 here we come

russ can't see of the middle, just like kyler murray, why don;t you pull up PFT's QB heat map for both of those QBs then compare to the avg of the league .... you can see how easy it is to defensively scheme against QBs who only throw out side the numbers ..... cause they TOO DAM short to see over the middle. it limits the play caller, and makes the job for the defense much easier.

Steelers are sleepers. We went 5-1 in the AFC North last year! The only division to send 3 teams to the playoffs, I believe. A bunch of people gating on Russell and we have Fields in the wings! lol. the broncos said the same thing. and i mean the same thing! go back and take a look at broncos sports podcasts for the past 3 years. you wilson fans kill me with how great you think he is. he's too short to see over the offense and defense lines. he's easy to defend against as he rarely throws to the middle of the field. at 35 he just doesn't have the take off speed he used to have. and he'll take a butt load of sacks.i think he took 100 in the past 3 years.(i could be wrong) but its something close to that. he just can't see the open man in the short field. the dude likes playing hero ball and will drive steelers fans nuts.lastly he brings drama, not the in your face type, but a passive type of goofy drama. at least the steelers will be in a good position to get a good draft pick in '25'.
