All the world's power structures are interrelated through old families, money and religious loyalties. Russia is no more or less "capitalistic" than any other country, not where the power structure is concerned. If you are in the right place at the right time you will either thrive or get offed. Those places and times change like the weather over decades and the characteristics of the national branding change just as fluidly in accordance to the hidden stratagems of elite power which have unlimited capabilities and the experience to adapt to those vagaries of social change. The scariest part is the acceleration of change.

I was an Executive Producer/Writer on LAW & ORDER, the NBC tv series. About 15 years ago we were making a deal to do L&O: MOSCOW. I was en route to the airport in LA to go over and work for a year to get the show up and running. AT the FIRST CLASS LOUNGE, I was called and told the deal was off. Long story short, Dick Wolf and NBC were told last minute that they needed to kick in a $10 million bribe for the permits. No L&O: MOSCOW…….😊

"Alex Krainer is the author of "Grand Deception: The Browder Hoax", whose detailed investigation lead him to believe that Bill Browder's elaborate story of his "Lawyer" Sergei Magnitsky (he was in fact Browder's tax accountant) was a tale of deception and falsehood. The truth was that Browder left his hapless accountant to take the fall for his tax evasion in Russia, while Browder was safe and sound in his London office. Magnitsky was not murdered, he died in pre-trial detention and the cause of death was acute pancreatitis. If Browder paid the back taxes and fines, Magnitsky would be alive today. Under oath in the Prevezon Case, Browder admitted he never checked on Magnitsky, leaving that task to his lawyers."

RU money corrupts U.S. politics the way it influenced Brexit in the U.K. and wormed its way into the U.K. power structure. Here in America, russian influence may soon destroy Western Civilization, or most western governments. Billionaires think they can tame this criminal mafia, but when have any white shoe lawyers been an adequate defense against being dropped 30,000 feet from a private plane or donning Novichok underpants? They can kiss their hedge funds goodbye. And good luck with inflation, judging by russian federation’s precipitously rising prices, higher taxes, fewer domestic supplies, lower wages and increasing food costs. Billionaires + Organized crime= what could go wrong? Greedy power players always think they can “tame” dictators, rich German guys thought they could manage Hitler in his day too. In 2015, powerful republicans thought they could “handle” Trump. Power corrupts absolutely.

@@stijnvandamme76 A correct analogy would be that you have a tyrannical supervisor in the supermarket making constant threats towards the workers. The workers goes along with it for some time because they are young and inexperienced. The supervisor carries on for years making threats of personal attacks and violating personal space. The workers finally say enough and make demands that the supervisor step back but he of course refuses. So the workers revolt. Now the supervisor sells a story to the media telling the public that he is the victim in this situation.

As a Dane, I fully support Browders mission. But I also see things a little different with respect to who is responsible here in the West. I is probably no conincidende that Putins friends are all based in the New York, London and Geneva. Obviously the banking capitals of the West are not just passive partners in this. Browder himself has made a fortune in Russia. So where is the line? Bankers in the West are constantly lobbying for rules that permits all kinds of schemes to avoid paying tax. It is engrained in the City of London. And now that he mentions drug lords. The reason why South America is plaqued by drug related crime is because we in Europe and North America buy so much cocaine and meanwhile we maintain that cocaine is illegal. This is what create the illegral drug world. The same argument goes in relation to the banking sector in London, New York and Geneva we are creating the playing field.

Thanks Bill Browder. I've been following your journey through your books and interviews. I've never been able to understand this hysterical support for Trump. It seems that anyone who sprays themselves orange and has had a television presence is blindly admired in America. To me it's obvious that these 2 reasons alone are enough to make me want to run in the opposite direction. I cannot think of one "celebrity" who I would seek out for advice on how to run my own life. Alex Krainer is the author of "Grand Deception: The Browder Hoax", whose detailed investigation lead him to believe that Bill Browder's elaborate story of his "Lawyer" Sergei Magnitsky (he was in fact Browder's tax accountant) was a tale of deception and falsehood. Under oath in the Prevezon Case, Browder admitted he never checked on Magnitsky, leaving that task to his lawyers.

read his book when it came out, and contrary to all the comments below on his genius, still can't figure out why he thought the risk wasn't too great/too dangerous to invest in rushya, when it so obviously was, especially after collapse of soviet. I don't blame him for taking the risks, or sticking up for his buddy, but seriously- there were harbingers of things to come, even before Browder stepped in it and encouraged others to follow. His hindsight is 20/20, particularly between graduating in '89 in Business, 2 yrs before collapse and now that most of pooTin's cards have been laid bare with invasion of Ukraine. in segment about "why did we allow Russia money to take hold in London" again, after spearheading the charge for markets to embrace rubles back in '90s - experience is a brutal teacher...

Business associates of Mr. Browder have earned over $1.5 billion in Russia and never paid any taxes neither in Russia or the United States and yet the money escaped the country. They were transferred to the United States." 'Der Spiegel' articles: On 22 November 2019, German news magazine Der Spiegel published an article in which it claimed Browder accusations concerning the "Magnitsky Case", do not withstand thorough examination. The English version appeared on 26 November 2019. Watch The Magnitsky Act - Behind the Scenes explores the veracity of Browder's claims. Andrei Nekrasov, the film's director, started out by believing Browder, as did virtually all mainstream media of the world. At a closer look it turned out, however, that the company theft story was riddled with inconsistencies, and the whistleblower role had been falsely assigned to Magnitsky to reinforce the impression that the companies had been stolen by the people Magntisky had allegedly accused.
