I thought the same...but then...it's more fun this way 😝...except the ambassador and Etios, they didn't say any other brand name, but enthusiasts can guess each and every model name correctly 😎...they just have to give some clues/context..(reason why talking cars feels close to us)...also you have to be up to date. One can easily guess they were talking about the Seltos split in two halves, or the Santro toppling the endy or the example that they showed of differing build quality was the Sonet blueprints from TeamBHP...whether they are speaking diplomatically or are giving us enough clues depends on us being up-to-date 👍🏼

1. Your 4 star car and other 4 star car is not same in real-world. This is because test is emulated with car of same weight. Eg : You cannot say Triber is as safe as Thar (Both of them has 4 stars) & vice versa. 2. 64kmph does makes sense to an extent. Because you do panic breaking before your crash in most of the cases. (May not apply for head on collision) 3. The Chassis shown in this video (India vs International) is Kia Seltos. 5 star in Australian NCAP and marginal 3 star in GNCAP. 8.03 is Indian Seltos score where 8 being cutoff for 3 star. Ideally you can call it 2 star too. 4. Car vs SUV. Look at Scorpio's GNCAP video. See how passenger cabin crumbles. 5. No. of Airbag may help for better star (especially for stable shell cars). Adult protection can go high. 6. You cannot never judge a vehicles safety from post accident scene in first place. Also, most of the cases, vehicle might be destructed further by rescue team to save fellow passengers. Also if that was this easy, crashworthiness (CAE/FEA) engineers wont exist here. 7. Bumpers are designed to absorb crash. You can rejoice if they crumple in a crash assuming crash forces has been successfully stopped. They are also designed no to harm pedestrians in a crash scene. 8. No 5 star car can save you from all mischaps. 9. Structure/Design/Engineering involed is a part of passive safety. Active safety tech such ESP, HHC, TC etc also makes much difference. Prevention is better than cure. Keep revvin

Some auto industry stalwarts claim an unsafe car is safer than a two wheeler and that in a poor country (albeit with some of the richest individuals in the world), we should not look at these things in isolation. Affordable 'unsafe' cars are safer than two wheelers. Would love to hear views on this. Shouldn't the power output of a vehicle also be considered while assessing it's over all safety? Some cars struggle to get through Ghat sections with the prescribed maximum number of passengers and luggage. Even overtaking manoeuvres take a lot of planning in such cars.

It would have been great if you guys had talked about the new Indian consumer craving fav/fab feature - "Panaromic Sunroof" and "Sunroof" in general (thengu sunroof nae chadikilla :)) . I think our people India, never really understood the original use of sunroof in first place while it has been in the Europe/North American market for a long time. It is the same company/(companies) that set these features as a benchmark in India with a huge compromise on safety and it is sad to see our people have prioritised wireless charging, b**e speakers and air-purifiers over driving/performance/handling etc., after all these cars are meant to drive us around and we're starting to forget that. Overall, a very informative and thanks for sharing this video, Talking Cars!!

Like in the torsional rigidity. if yes Does manufacturer make any structural modifications to maintain the strength in such variants?

Better late than never. And thanks for the comment. The addition of a sunroof does affect the rigidity of the roof and to maintain similar torsional stiffness as the one without it, more reinforcements are added. The problem with that is it adds extra weight - one that’s higher up on the car and that’s not good for your centre of mass.

Great informative video. It would have been great if you had explained what is PRS and SRS, what constitutes PRS and why PRS is more important than SRS. This would have helped people to understand why wearing seat belts are extremely important than the count of airbags in a vehicle.

SRS or Supplemental Restraint System is just a technical term for Airbags, used by engineers in the Automotive Industry. It is called "supplemental" because airbags supplement the seatbelts which are the "Primary Restraint System" (PRS) in regards to crash safety.

The main advantage that suzuki sees for their cars in India is...reduce structural members to reduce weight.... It provides them liberty to attain more mileage, find smaller brake pads, less suspension effectivity, less engine capacity ...so its internally helping them to gain a major cost advantage.... Etios was one car which people literally hated..but was surprised at seeing majority of their car and how far their engineering was good ..... Same is case with Altroz with 900kg and getting 5star is just phenomenal..... When talking about Suv's this is where the moose test helps to see how they perform in lane change.... Ecosport is one car which managed to be succesful in this test inspite of high CG....but Nissan kicks which had low CG faired poorly in this....so in this case it is evident why vhicle dynamics is also important for safety as well

@@noahinangil3603 to my knowledge a factory fitted sunroof has more stretch elements to cop up the void leaves by the sunroof , factory fitted just cut a hole not strengthen other areas to cop up .. see in this video itself they say concertante has more weight comparing roofed version of same cars it done to compresnate

Indian cars can be classified as four in general in terms of saferty, 1.One with strong shell/structural design with strong sheet metal -> eg all high end cars like Merc, BMW and budget cars like VAG 2.One with strong shell/structural design with poor sheet metal -> eg. cars like Etios 3.One with poor shell/structural design with strong sheet metal --> eg Scorpio 4.One with both poor structure and poor metal body --> most cars from M*r*ti (aka p*p*d), Hy*da* Re*u*t etc

Safety is also a behavior change. We are worried or careful about selecting safe vehicle , means we inside should be safe. But with out changing our driving behavior, safety will still be a dream. Careless overtaking, bad roads and of course jumping lanes/cues..reasons many.
