Ten people died after two helicopters collided mid-air during a military rehearsal for a Royal Malaysian Navy parade. The incident occurred at the Lumut naval base in the western state of Perak at 9.32am on April 23, the navy said in a statement. A video showed several helicopters flying in a formation when one of the aircraft’s rotors clipped another before both crashed to the ground.
One helicopter, an AgustaWestland AW139 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM), crashed near a stadium at the complex The second helicopter involved in the incident has been identified as a Eurocopter Fennec, which reportedly fell near a swimming pool. The Malaysian navy said there were seven crew members on board the Augusta and three on the Eurocopter.

The larger helicopter was trying to catch up to the formation in sync and banked too much on one side for the show dry run. In the last second, pilot realises another chopper higher and only had milliseconds to react, or pilot didn't even see the other chopper at all. Even if pilot realises imminent collision, pilot couldnt bank anymore cause its already banking so much to its side almost 90degree belly which may lose lift. Juat my 2cents playing too much flying simulator. LOL.
