Ten people died after two helicopters collided mid-air during a military rehearsal for a Royal Malaysian Navy parade. The incident occurred at the Lumut naval base in the western state of Perak at 9.32am on April 23, the navy said in a statement. A video showed several helicopters flying in a formation when one of the aircraft’s rotors clipped another before both crashed to the ground.
One helicopter, an AgustaWestland AW139 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM), crashed near a stadium at the complex The second helicopter involved in the incident has been identified as a Eurocopter Fennec, which reportedly fell near a swimming pool. The Malaysian navy said there were seven crew members on board the Augusta and three on the Eurocopter.
