So different from the olden days idea of a master engraver toiling away on metal plates to replicate reverse images of the various (seperately inked and printed!) images on currencies. Not even remotely the same anymore. I wonder what the Canadian forger's start up costs were? He had to have gone to an enormous amount of expense before he could even begin to attempt to print, i.e. the building that housed the presses, the paper, the inks, and all the other materials needed. Hiring drivers, trucks the video surveilliance he mentioned. Did he have to give up/rat out his financial backers? How about his initial customers? Bet he's in some witness protection sort of arrangement now. And who verified that the amount he admitted to printing was the actual amount that had been printed?

Its all about minimizing exposure and maximizing the amount of currency you can move. If you do 1000's of.small transactions, your exposure is much higher. If you consolidate everything into large wholesale transactions and sell at $0.30 on the dollar, you can clean more money and minimize your exposure. The limiting factor isnt the amount of cash you can print, its the transactions that allow you to obtain real currency and the risk you inccur.
