To be honest, stumbling on your channel was one of the serendipitous moments in my life. 😆

As a current first year medical student, I could really relate to how the serendipitous moments really do make the biggest difference. I was accepted into med school via a joint BS/MD program that I found out by pure chance and applied to at the last minute during high school. Initially i was waitlisted and set to go into a regular 4 year university. However, just before the summer, I got off the waitlist and was accepted into the program. I hope to one day become an ophthalmologist and your videos have been so helpful and inspiring! Thank you!!

I'm a spiritual person and I have definitely had serendipitous moments during my education/training/career that has placed me where I am today in CRNA school. I know the blessings that have been given to me and I routinely take time to reflect on them and work to be the best anesthesia provider I can be for my patients.

I’ve missed your videos! Would love it if you did a quick life update video! This was great!! Perspective and viewing things as opportunities has changed how I view life as well. My first job was on a floor that I really didn’t want to be on. But I gained so many skills, had leadership opportunities, and realized where I wanted to end up because I saw a huge gap in primary care patient education that I wanted to address. And all at a job I “hated”. Thanks for the video!

I remember when you uploaded videos years ago. You have grown so much as physician and a person! Self aware and insightful! One thing I would say is that always keep that personal touch of yours in the videos! I think that's what makes your videos so impressionable. Your personality seems so real and happy! I do believe serendipity plays some role in our lives. It is up to us though, to grab those opportunities and just hammer through!

Most of the women I knew in med school were definitely NOT like you. You are so "normal" and likeable, it's refreshing - not to mention shocking to my senses. Even the women doctors I know are literally nothing like you. Has anyone ever told you that? I'm sure others have commented on just how beautiful a person you are.

You’re so inspirational Andrea. I don’t have words to describe what an absolute gem you are. Every reflection you made in this video is a proof of your gratitude, which a lot of us overlook. Good luck on your fellowship!

I shouldn't be but it's so great that you have a fatigue policy. Where I work, we work anywhere between 24-72 hours at a stretch and you just motor through. You manage because there is no option. You are on duty 24*7 so if you haven't slept say, 50 hours, and one of your patients requires urgent surgery, you pick your butt up and wash in cuz there is no other choice. somehow i am capable of this feat. every week. i have no idea how.

Yeah, you are back! So glad to see you! :-) I’m so glad I found your videos two years ago, when I was in my first semester of med school and crying over chemistry and physics (we don’t have prerequisites or college in Germany, we start right into med school). You helped me through so many motivational crises and I probably would have failed a few exams if I had not been motivated to study because of you! You also helped me live a healthier life and think about exercise and meal prep etc and again, I am so grateful that you showed me that it is possible to live healthy and be happy in those stressful periods of life. I have loved your blog posts about cooking but can’t find them anymore, will they ever come back?

I've been waiting for a new video for so long!! I'm a pre-med and have my entrance exams in a month from now which will determine if I go to med school or not and I'm going full swing right now. And the only thing that keeps propelling me forward is my belief that my hard work and passion towards this field will light my path and things will work out. There are so many factors for getting into med school and I'm trying my best to increase my chances. And I think what I'm doing is for a noble cause so I'll find my way through. I love watching you're videos and have really used your philosophies and mottos throughout my pre-med years and I want to thank you for all the amazing advice you give. You are truly extraordinary!

Thank you so much for sharing, Dr. Tooley! It’s an excellent reminder that things will work out! I was waitlisted for my first choice of nurse practitioner programs but found out today that I’ve been accepted into my second choice! Even though it’s not what I had originally planned, I have faith that it will work out for the best!
