we're taught those things in restaurants (i run a restaurant), always thaw ANY meat in fridge, in a container that doesn't let the juices run anywhere, at the bottom of the fridge, not the top, and washing any meat is pointless, you're just risking spreading bacterie for no reason, there's nothing to be washed, just put it straight in the thing u're gonna cook it in

also, you should NEVER leave any meat, cooked or not, frozen or not, at room temp for more than 1 to 2 hours depending on the meat anyway that's just what we're taught in the food industry, do what u want with that lol im not here to tell u how to live

here's how i thaw my chicken according to how mama taught me. get an appropriate size tupperware to contain the chicken. fill tupperware with lukewarm temperature water. put chicken in a ziploc bag. now put the chicken (while its sealed inside the ziploc bag) in the water filled tupperware with the seal pointing upwards just incase theres a leak. usually thaws in about an hour give or take 15 mins

Put it on an aluminum sheet tray on the kitchen counter or on a tray in the fridge overnight.
