Here's a really easy way to clear up the confusion and to also understand why there are two creation accounts. Genesis 1 is a prophetic text that covers the entirety of redemptive history. The "days" are ages, or stages of history. The "Adam" created in the image and likeness of God on the 6th "day" was either the resurrected Jesus (male) and His Bride, the Church (female), or just the Church consisting of male and female born again believers made in the image and likeness of God. Genesis 2 is the story of the creation of the natural man and woman and their subsequent downfall.

I would like to set the record straight. Genesis1:1 "א "בְּרֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים, אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ. Mistranslated as: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth". The discrepancy between the Torah writing and Science comes from the mistranslation of the Torah scripture from its original Hebrew language to the English language. The first word in Genesis Chapter 1:1 “Be’resh’it” (Hebrew: בְּרֵאשִׁית) is mistranslated as " In the beginning" and the word, “Elohim” (Hebrew: אֱלֹהִים) is mistranslated as "YE-HO-HA יהוה" (GOD) etc... The correct translation of: Genesis1:1 At one of many beginnings, Elo'him אֱלֹהִים caused to exist, the heaven, (all the spiritual things) including everything in it, and the earth, (all the material things) including everything on it. Would love to have your input. Thanks, Haim Levy חיים לוי

Genesis chapter 1 sets the stage as to how to be read the rest of Genesis and all the rest of Scripture . Genesis 2:4 says " This is the TOLEDOT ( history , generations , genealogies , chronicles ) of the heavens and the earth " Gen. 5:1 " This is the book of the TOLEDOT of Adam . " . Gen. 6:9 " This is the TOLEDOT of Noah " .Gen. 10:1 " This is the TOLEDOT of the sons of Noah " ( known as The Table of Nations ) . Gen. 11:10 " This is the TOLEDOT of Shem " . Gen. 11:27 " This is the TOLEDOT of Terah ; Terah begot Abram , " Gen. 25:12 " This is the TOLEDOT of Ishmael " . Gen, 25:19 " This is the TOLEDOT of Isaac , Abraham's son " Gen. 36:1 " This is the TOLEDOT of Esau , who is Edom " . Gen. 37:2 " This is the TOLEDOT of Jacob , Joseph " . The rest of Scripture continues to lay out the history, genealogy of the coming Redeemer from the line of Jesse and David . Matthew 1:1 says " The book of the genealogy ( history , generations . " Genesis" in the Greek ) of Jesus Christ , the Son of David , the Son of Abraham " . How should we read Genesis , the genealogy , the history , the family record of Jesus . You can take it as poetic if you want but Scripture is laid out as a LITERAL , actual historical record of the events as they happened . At what point do you want change poetic allegory to historical fact ?

Practically all ancient Hebrew scholars understood Genesis 1 as literal history being described as six 24 hour solar days. Also Exodus 20:11 says God created in six days. Any other interpretation undermines the authority of scripture.

Irish Chocolate what? Maybe they were wrong, they denied Christ so they didn’t know everything. Now I believe God blinded them so His will could be done with His Son so he could be our Savior. What about in 2 Peter where it states “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 KJV If you look at some of the Hebrew Scriptures it states that He created the Heavens and the Earth instead of it being without form or formless it was supposed to be translated as it became chaotic so I think God created everything perfect at first (because He is not the author of confusion) and something happened (angels rebelled) and an all out war was waged and the earth was battered and became chaotic (I saw the stars fall from heaven (I think that’s in John), this refers to God kicking out and throwing lucifer and the 1/3 that rebelled with him . So God has to recreate the Earth in what we now know today... Even in Job it describes the angels shouted for joy when they saw God speak the Earth into physical existence (This was a time before the angels rebelled). You have to put everything together like a puzzle, let the Bible and His Word interpret...

@@tonywiggins8073 genisis 1 starts with the perfect tense and continues with the imperfect tense. This is the Hebrew grammar for talking about a literal historical event. To help you understand it starts of by having a clear cut end to the sentence like a simple point. For the rest it uses multiple clauses throughout the text as if the writing will keep going on and on. The purpose of the text is shown to be literal because of this and you can't find any other proof of it not being literal. People decide for themselves what is literall or not so they can believe what they want rather than what is right. Poetry which is what many claim genisis 1 to be can be found in books like psalms

Genesis is a historical fact with six 24 hour days. God knew how long a 24 hour day would be before he created the Sun. It is only academics bowing to the scientific consensus of atheists that now questions God's Word.

I'm reading his book "How to Read Genesis." Outstanding. I'm adding Dr. Longman III as one of my favorite OT scholars. I highly recommend the book.

Easy answer: as mythology.
@philippaul22707 ай бұрын
slight distinction here, as myth, not mythology. in a monotheistic framework mythology would not work as it pertains to theogeny which is impossible within the theological paradigm.
