Scott Jackson I mean, the point of the Torah, Genesis through Deuteronomy specifically is that it was brought to Moses for writing by God. He wrote as he was told, not as he recalled. He may have written of his death before it happened. Additionally, as mentioned in the video, it seems there are some details in which things were “filled-in” during translations and such. Perhaps the verses you’re looking at are just those details, and filled in later. Perhaps Deuteronomy chapter 34 was written by Joseph as a means to complete what his father started. Hard to say. And to be completely fair, none of the modern day bible was written by Moses, rather, those who have translated and revised to get the versions we have today. Perhaps intent in the language changed. Either way, cherry-picking verses won’t win this one for you, biblical scholars generally agree Moses originally wrote most, if not all, of these books. I, among others, need more to change our views
Much like in the case of Homer, I believe it is likely that the book itself is a written collection of oral tales. Perhaps, as you stated, Moses wrote a part of it, but other authors contributed afterwards and modified the text.

There is strong evidence that Moses compiled and edited the Book of Genesis , with the various sections being authored by the primary character named at THE END of each section in the Toledoth statements ("These are the generations ((accounts, records, etc.)) of..."). The Toledoth statements (which, notably, do not appear in any book of the Bible except Genesis) serve as colophons (author and date info) which, as we have discovered from ancient stone & clay (cuneiform) tablets, appear at the END of ancient documents (in contrast to the modern method of placing them at the beginning of a book or document). Although this transmission-method, if true, removes the intriguing mysteries of the writing-style differences between the sections of Genesis (which, unfortunately, have been used as fodder for those wishing to cast doubt upon the inspiration of the scriptures), and the conjectures about the method of revelation to Moshe, it would make the early chapters of Genesis the oldest literature in the world (pre-dating even the Epic of Gilgamesh), AND clearly explains the "two creation accounts" of Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 (ALSO, unfortunately used as fodder by those wishing to cast doubt upon the inspiration of the scriptures) But the most exciting thing, to me, is that the author of the first creation account (Genesis 1:1 - 2:4) is named at the END of that section (i.e. in Gen. 2:4)! If you find the authorship suggestion of that first section too outlandish, remember that it is not without precedent, albeit anachronistic (see Exodus 31:18), For a more thorough and scholarly presentation of this exciting theory, search "Who Wrote Genesis? Are The Toledoths Colophons?" at creationDOTcom.

Rose, I'm not sure where you're at as far as understanding The Bible, however, regarding just Genesis 1 and 2, it helps to understand it once you realize that Genesis 1:1 through 2:4 was written by the Creator Himself (which is not as far fetched as it might sound, as Exodus records that God wrote "with the finger of God" on the tablets given to Moses)., while Gen. 2:5 - 5:2 was written by Adam. For a more thorough understanding of this, I recommend reading "Who Wrote Genesis? Are the Toledoths Colophons? " at creationDOTcom (of course, replacing DOT with "." So we are to believe Moses wrote the book of Genesis? Tell me, by what means did Moses acquire this information? I cant wait to hear this one. By the way... Scholarly consensus sees Moses as a mythical figure, while retaining the possibility that a Moses-like figure existed. Biblical scholars today agree almost unanimously that the Torah is the work of many authors over many centuries. Even among evangelical scholars, the Mosaic authorship is endorsed only by the most conservative among them. Jewish scholars such as Shaye J. D. Cohen and Richard Elliott Friedman also reject the Mosaic authorship. Friedman declared "At present, however, there is hardly a biblical scholar in the world actively working on the problem who would claim that the Five Books of Moses were written by Moses - or by any one person." Cohen stated about the battle of modern Bible scholars against traditional views of authorship of the Torah: "The great battleground is the Torah (the Pentateuch, the five books of Moses): is the Torah the earliest biblical book, revealed by God to Moses shortly after the Exodus, around 1300-1200 BCE, or one of the latest, not completed until the exilic period - or later? An interesting thought: The Books of the Christian Bible (maybe I should say the Protestant Bible and the Catholic Bible, because there is a difference. So which correct?) If the Christian Faith can't even get this straight, how can people expect the actual facts of the events that were written several hundred centuries after the stories were written? Here's an experiment proving that the facts in the Bible are "Paraphrased", but definitely not written by God. You take 20 people. In the first person, whisper to the first person something with a lot of details (just as the Bible has). Let's say for now, we'll use a popular one, the Declaration of Independence. Every American should know some of this. After whispering it to the first person, the first person whispers it to the second, then down the line. By the time you get to the 20th person, they may, they MIGHT, know the first paragraph, "We The People". Now, this is just a room of 20 people who can't keep straight a single, detailed, one page document. How can we expect people to keep the oral original events on how the world was created? And there's MORE! Let's take Genesis and the creativity story. There was Adam and Eve, then can and Abel. Abel is murdered by Cain. So this leaves 3 people, and the other brothers and sisters whom we don't really know about. Who do they have sex with in order to "populate" the entire planet. And don't give us this bs about "God allowed INCEST" just for this time period because if it's against God then it's always against God. God won't allow something just for the sake of humanity. God is all knowing so God (which nobody really know if God is a male or female.). I'm not saying that the Bible isn't a good book. It's an outstanding book. It has some very interesting ways on how to deal with everyday life. But this was not written by God. It was written by humans with what they understood at the time. Many of the diseases at that time have been eradicated. Leprosy was a huge problem in the Bible. Now it's cured. Then they've come back to say it's not the same Leprosy in the Bible. That person should be slapped upside his head. I can't stand these so called people who claim that diseases in the Bible aren't the same. These morans should be fired immediately.. If someone gets burned in the Bible, it is the same today? If you caught the common cold in the Bible, they had no idea what Vitamin C is or how to treat it. We get over it in 3 days. Just quit feeding a bunch of hoopla. Let us know when God calls all the masses of people together to let us all know who's right.

If you ever wonder why so many people think of God as purely an imaginary tale, look no further than the beginning of this book designed to trace and explain how we come to be. Though modern science bears testimony to who this book must have been written by, and that is God, the sole creator of the whole universe, however, the senseless explanation that comes along with our creation, makes it sound a lot more cumbersome and repugnant that leaves many to question the authenticity of what sounds very much like a fairytale, yet, the weight of the misadventures described in the book rest heavily on our shoulders, though paradoxical it seems. Whether you agree to story of our existence is true or not, as described by God in the book of Genesis, one thing you cannot deny is that you get sick, you die, most of us have to work tirelessly to make a living , our mothers went through a lot to bring us to the earth, and many more uncomfortable circumstances attached to the the cursed that’s been passed on to the rest us generations, and will remain as such to the very end. That’s undeniably true, across the world and through generations. As inhabitants of the earth planet, we know for facts that things do not automatically make themselves, nor do events shape themselves, meaning that nature cannot create nor can it regulate itself, some body must be in control, in that case, it’s God. We don’t see mango, carrots and all of the natural goods we consume grow haphazardly on each other seed or tree, or produce regardless the season or land, nor do we witness cows give birth to donkeys and pigs, or a human being grow horse in their stomachs and vice versa. That meticulously and well orchestrated sequence of things, cannot be just the product of imagination. However, the ridiculous notion of us being cursed by God for violating his precepts pertaining to the consumption of some fruits planted by God under the noses of our forbearers, is simply nonsense. Our problems whatever they might be rest solely on the fact that God was playing hide-and-seek with his angels (devils) in heaven. In context of the narratives we get on that very subject, don’t we have sufficient evidence to support the notion that we haven’t been in the picture, until to the final hours leading up to the fall of Some of God’s angels in heaven? I would think we do. Why? First, planting several trees with savory tastes in front of their eyes in a garden, that they live in, and allowing them the right of consumption to them all, except one, is proof that there is something tacitly wrong there, especially when God did not have any obligation to have planted that tree to begin with, and why under their very eyes, given the immensity of land virgin land across the planet, if he didn’t intend for the debacles to have happened? Second, clearly we can conclude that they knew nothing with regard to the source where a potentially offer of consumption might have originated from, since they couldn’t read God’s mind to figure out what he was about to do and the rationale behind his decision. At no point did God explicitly tell them that so and so would come in an attempt to derail you of my will, suggesting that you eat those fruits. Why? Third, upon entering the garden, how in the universe they so quickly figure out the exact one out of many others, that God prohibited to our forbearers the consumption of, when they weren’t present at the time when God did tell them? Arguing it just so happens, would mean that a hacker could penetrate any databases they pick at will without having the proper knowledge to do so. What would be the difference , then? What I mean to imply is that, they never would have found out what those fruits were for, if God did not intentionally provide them with the capacity of reading the thoughts crossing human minds, be they genuine or imaginary. If that wasn’t God’s intention for the devils to have done, why placing those fruits there, and equip them with the capacity necessary to carry out their senseless vendetta? Furthermore, if God knew that our forbearers were aware of the existence of the angels, why you think he wouldn’t tell them that he was about to expel some of them and they would come to make them do such and such ? Even in the case of their complete ignorance of the existence of angels, if God had no intention to let them succeed in their attempts to derail our forbearers, he could have for explained to them what that was about, and who they were. Truthfully, they didn’t receive any detailed explanation from God, except for a generics order of not eating those fruits, and if you do you’ll die, without them being cognizant of what death was, being the first to have been created, and died, when they never assisted to the demise of anyone before them. Weren’t they in the dark? I would think so. Finally, what is the purpose of creating human beings with the sole purpose of subscribing them to the cruelty of those trashy heavenly creatures of his, when he could have just piled them up and thrown them to hell? Inventing a scenario where you accuse the innocents of wrong doing in a desperate effort to concoct any justification to condemn your nemesis from heaven, makes absolutely no sense, and does not give a favorable view of our creator. What crimes have we committed in the garden of Eden, to have been subscribed to death and more? That crime must have been egregious, and honestly, we might need to stop our consumption of fruits all together to avoid pissing God off like anymore. Is sickness, death, desperate needs, problems of all kind, a joke to God? If you put that in context, that what it sounds like. As bad as it seems to be, it was the beginning of nonsense gimmicks of God with his bastards of heaven against humanity.

I heard that the original Hebrew book of Genesis began with what we read as Genesis 2:4. That Genisis 1:1 to 2:3 was made up by someone who wanted to prove one point. That was to show everyone that the Sabbath was there from the very beginning.
@bjjukes49692 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that such a claim may have originated with someone trying to counter those who dismiss the bible as a whole based on the explanation of the world being created in six days. The fact is that the "days" in the book of Genesis are not directly correlated to what we, as humans, call "days". This is made clear in Genesis 1:14. The mechanisms by which we measure the passage of time was not in place until what God called the "fourth day" of creation. This is why there were Sabbaths observed as measured in not only days but months and years as well. In other words, what God called "days" during the creation were periods of time most likely not measured as we think of them. Additionally, if the general theory of relativity is correct , time itself would have changed as the earth's mass came together (the more mass a planet has, the faster time is experienced by those affected by the planet). If that is true, what God called the "first day" may not have directly corresponded to what God called the "second day". I believe that God inspired Moses to write Genesis in a way to explain WHY the earth was created and not necessarily HOW. God did not intend the writings be for just astrophysicists, but for everyone. What we need to know is that God created the world we live in and it was created for us - his sons and daughters. Our observance of the Sabbath is our recognition of those facts.

I take that to be dividing liquid and solid water (oceans and ice formations) from water which helps make up our atmosphere (clouds or even the oxygen and hydrogen particles that can make up H2O).

Enoch wrote the book. God commands him to tell information about all his first relatives after the events of garden of eden. Read the the book its in a vision given from god to enoch. Enoch envisions heaven and the beginning of the creation of man. enoch during the time of the watchers and the nephilim. Enoch is gods chosen prophet to help him relay messages to the watchers of wrong doings to humans . Enoch was taken to heaven after the writings because God loved him so much because of how God enoch followed in his footsteps. Nephilim were destroyed and the watchers were bound and locked away from mating with woman and giving away secrets of heaven to humans. The nephilim were giants that destroyed humans and the watchers were fallen angels that made the nephilim from having intercourse with woman after the garden of eden. The watchers were chosen gaurdians but they like wise followed in the same direction as lucifer.

Genesis was written 400 BCE by an anonymous writer so 1000 before that Moises wrote Genesis on Stones? How many stones did he need ? Scholars denied the existence of Moises besides Archeology found no civilization between 1400 BCE to 1000 BCE but before and after. Moises wrote his own death in Genesis ?

MOSES WROTE THE FIRST 5 BOOKS. TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION SIMPLY. IF GOD CHOSE MOSES TO CONFRONT THE PHARAOH TO FREE HIS PEOPLE, AND THEN PART THE SEA. PEOPLE PUT THERE TRUST IN HIM BECAUSE THEY KNEW HE WAS TRUSTED BY GOD AND ANYTHING HE BROUGHT FORTH OBVIOUSLY WAS THE WORKING OF GOD SINCE HE WAS THE ONE WHO FIRST RECEIVED GOD'S LAWS THE 10 COMMANDMENTS.

@Item 9 DID YOU KNOW THAT MOST OF OUR FOUNDING FATHERS HERE IN THE UNITED STATES SPOKE GREEK. AFTER THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, WHERE WE BOOTED THE BRITISH OUT. THE FOUNDING FATHER WANTED A NEW LANGUAGE TO SPEAK APART FROM ENGLISH. SO THEY CHOSE GREEK TO BECOME THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE. WHEN THEY VOTED, IT WAS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN WHO HELD THE DECIDING VOTE AND VOTED AGAINST THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE BECOMING GREEK. IF HE WOULD HAVE VOTED YES, AMERICA WOULD BE SPEAKING GREEK TODAY LIKE THE CANADIANS SPEAK FRENCH. SO AS TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. OBVIOUSLY THE EGYPTIANS SPOKE HEBREW, BECAUSE THEY ENSLAVED THEM. THE EGYPTIANS DID USE HIEROGLYPHIC BUT MOST LIKELY ALL SPOKE HEBREW AS WELL AND OTHER LANGUAGES WHICH ALSO ENCOMPASSES GREEK. MATHEW, MARK, LUKE WHO WERE APOSTLES OF CHRIST WROTE THE BIBLE IN GREEK WHICH TELLS YOU THEY NOT ONLY SPOKE ARAMAIC, BUT ALSO GREEK AND OTHER LANGUAGES. MOSES WAS FOUND IN A BASKET BY THE PHARAOH'S DAUGHTER FLOATING ON THE NILE, ARE YOU AWARE OF THAT.

Jesus attributed all 5 Books of the Torah to Moses. Case closed.

The irony is that near the opening of Moses' work we hear the serpent ask "did God really say _____?" ...today we hear him say " Did Moses really say _____?" which since Jesus said he did, and the messianic prophecies, many proven by the Dead Sea Scrolls to have preceded his arrival, prove Jesus is the Son of God, then we can know Moses wrote it. Moreover, the implied question by the serpent is "Did Jesus really say _____"? To the serpent, I say, "yes! now hush and crawl in a hole somewhere."

Moses is the author of Genesis.

But why theres no statement in the bible saying that moses wrote that?
@canadiankewldude3 жыл бұрын
@@xerasyt.7390 (1 Kings 2:3) (Luke 2:22), and Though the Pentateuch is known as the Books of Moses, nowhere in the Book of Genesis is the author named. Until the last three hundred years, both Jews and Christians were almost unanimous in their belief that Moses was the author (or at least the compiler) of Genesis as well as the author of Exodus through Deuteronomy. Reasons for the rejection of Moses' authorship were not based upon any objective evidence but stemmed from an anti-supernatural bias on behalf of the critics. Evidence For Moses' Authorship There is, however, a large amount of evidence that the author or compiler of the Book of Genesis was Moses. The Bible gives us descriptions of places, names and events, much of which was rejected in the 1800s, such as the Hittites. Archaeology has always supported Biblical history, including the Hittites. There has never been anything found the contradicts Biblical history. Even ancient Chinese scriptures tell the stories of Genesis in their characters.

Isn't Jesus the author? He was quiet throughout his twenties, so would have had plenty of time to write it. Being modest, he may have then tried to give credit to Moses as he didn't want to come across as a bighead.

Jansen Wilder Did you live during the supposed years of Moses existence to know he really existed? He may very well be mythical. I understand you believe he was real. I can’t disprove he was not. Some of us do not see reason to believe he did. The Exodus did not happen. Rabbinical scholars have concluded such. That’s good enough for me to not believe. And no need to forgive me for being a Star Wars fan. I love that movie. But it has nothing to do with my position of disbelief in the Bible’s claims. What a silly argument. Be good.
@EinsteinKnowedIt4 жыл бұрын
Fake is something that deceives absolutely. Genesis does not decieve like that. There are hidden meanings to Genesis. If you read it with a scientific mind then you'll miss the beauty of it. Probably should dismiss our innate male chauvinism a bit too when reading it. I'm assuming you've read genesis?
@LegendaryJim4 жыл бұрын
@@chickenmanfan4977 with all due respect for your stance, "some" rabbinical scholars "believe" Exodus did not occur because little evidence of it exists. such conclusions in the absence of evidence is not proof of anything except unbelief. Just as a side note, while I choose to believe Exodus did occur (for many reasons.) I don't approve of Jansen's behavior.
