In the waking state, thoughts come 'automatically' in our minds. For example, i myself don't know what thought will come into my mind say after 10 minutes, 20 minutes etc. When thoughts come automatically to our mind, it 'seems' to us that we have consciouly 'thought' them.

My theory has always been that if you have to be woken up by an alarm clock you are not ready to get up. Every time I am woken up by my alarm clock I am exhausted all day. I sleep very well so I just go to bed in time that I will wake up before my alarm goes off.
@krishnaSagar69

when you go to sleep set a timer for 9hrs. So when you wake up, you can check the timer and see how much time you have slept. I do this but it takes time for you as you don't check the timer as soon as you wake up...

Wonder about the affect of serotonin. This is made in virtually every plant and animal. It has massive benefits, and it may be directly connected to or helped made by our micro biome in the gut during sleep. It may be so important that it's the reason living things sleep.
