Damn, at your age, I wasn't even able to get anything over 32'! You must have very successful businesses! God has blessed you very much! How are you even able to maintain your business and sail like you do?

You are in the fun process now, looking at boats :). However, I missed any discussion about the underwater body configuration. Maybe I forgot to catch up on any episode? What I mean is the rudder construction and what kind of keel. Both these questions are interesting for crossing comfort and safety in my opinion.

Nice video thank your for sharing, I have sailed on both the Catalina 380 and the 42. Based on what you are looking for I would lean more to the 42, it gives you a lot more options. The Beneteau 45 depending on the year and version is a nice boat also , faster then the Catalina 42 but the sails are a larger a lot more work and more cost to replace. Good luck with your search. Safe Sailing

From other comments I suspect you have made a purchase. Of what you have shown, the Beneteau 45 is the only one I would have kept in the list but still kept looking. $150K budget really cuts things down. I will only comment that single handing has a lot to do with set up and attitude more than LOA. Best of luck to you.

Sounds like you did your homework. Good luck with the channel. Please, oh please, remember the nautical terms: galley, stowage, cabin, etc.

Hi Kids- those are both awesome and comfortable boats- I’d go 42 if you can… my bro has sailed them and loves it- also the guy on Lady K Sailing loves them. Wish I could buy your current boat and jump off right now, but I’ve got work to do on my 33’ C&C.

@@sailingposttime Been sailing with a 1986 34' Catalina for 7 years after a chance sail on a 44' Catalina... we weathered a hell of a storm in her, the Catalina parts/boaters support is fantastic. That being said, we're selling the 34 as we bought a 41' Transworld CC :D

Offer under 99 k for the 42 forget the forget the Benne- in mast furling will make it sooo easy and an extra 30k will pay for a lot of maintenance and cruising

..... there are a lot of boats in Mexico that are registered in the US but kept there for seasonal cruising .... have seen some that are estate sails as well as due to health not able to use any longer .. no I did not notice the age of the boats .... a cabin be it on a lake or the seashore and only used on weekends can have a lot of "make do's" where as something that is a home in the same location "make do's" get old really quick and less enjoyable .... Seth mentioned 10 years, is that how long you are stationed in Pearl Harbor .... exciting watching you qualify new home for yourself ... one other question just to prod your thinking .. where does the dinghy go, on deck, is there room on long passages or davits making dinghy in the way while offshore and fishing .. yes lots do it ... have you googled boats for sale at say, way below your budget, say 50,000 and see if anything catches your eye, cashola is better in your pocket for future use ... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans .....

Thanks for watching! We won’t be in Pearl Harbor that long- We’ll get to more exploring in the next couple years outside of Hawaii! But, we don’t want to keep changing boats, so our next boat will allow us to grow into her over the next 7-10 years!

Just a $0.02 opinion from a stranger, but It doesn't sound like you've found "the one" yet. Wish you had had a shot at that 44' Center Cockpit that was for sale several weeks ago in HI.

Guessing those in-boom furling systems are reliable... Or?
@sailingposttime
@sailingposttime 11 ай бұрын
We like the in boom furling system much better than an in mast system. just due to safety. Can always be dropped quickly in case of an emergency with the halyard, but also a reliable system!
