I know it's 24k because I made it, and I tested the gold myself. The REAL reason most western jewelers don't use 24k is because it's expensive, and the profit margin is lower. The other reason is that they don't know how to work with 24k. It's truly some different stuff!!

Hi, 24k does not get harder or strength when heated up and cooled down. Gold gets harder only when mixed with harder metals. A mixture containing copper, zinc, and silver. And in fact gold does the opposite of iron when heated up and quenched for rapid cooling. What you’re doing is actually making it softer to be more malleable to work with by hand.

@@christophermedeiros1806 yes 24k scratches more easily. But you don't lose metal when you scratch it. It just displaces. You can burnish deep scratches out of it and not lose metal. Burnishing kind of smoothes out the scratch, rather than removing metal until the scratch is gone. Alloyed gold, especially 14k will lose metal when scratched. Plus you have to buff it, which removes more metal. I have a 24k ring that I've worn every day for nearly 2 years. Still looks good

Very few people actually know just how soft/hard it is though since almost noone owns any pure gold in modern times. Jewelry is almost never pure gold and you'd destroy it quickly. So it leaves only wealthy people who own it, or non-wealthy people who own modern gold coins. (And even those are not all pure gold.) I remember being nervous owning my first 24k gold coin, thinking it'd be soft as butter, it's not even remotely like that, it's similar to aluminum, you can dent it, and with some force bend it, but it's not play doh.

He is using two hands and a lot of pressure. If you use the same pressure and applied it to 10 K and 14 K gold it will break, and your gold is destroyed. Don’t let this video deter you. If someone attempted to snatch a 10 K or 14 K chain off your neck it will break or snap. If someone attempted to take a solid gold 24K chain off your neck they may just take your neck.
