Actually, it isn't. Ongoing games grow over time, which is why games like Genshin impact can participate in ant TGA event, as long as the game is running. The year after Genshin stops updating, it will no longer participate in TGA.

It's not even that Sonic Frontiers lost to Genshin, it's that it ONLY lost to Genshin. It beat Stray, which got nominated and I believe won some awards, God of War: Ragnarok, which won 6 awards, and even Elden Ring, which won freaking GOTY. And Genshin still won. I'm not really that angry, I'm just stunned. Also, while I'm at it, is (almost) everyone else in this comment like 8 years old? We got the Sonic protestors and the living Genshin advertises, and they're throwing the most laughable things at each other. I feel bad because some people are just giving their opinions and moving on and then they get attacked by the extreme Sonic/extreme Genshin fans.

As the legends say: We might have not won the battle, but we have won the war. Before Sonic Frontiers came, the sonic teams last good game was back in 2011 (Sonic Mania is a near perfection, but it was not made by sonic team) This game gave fans a faith in sonic team after the disasterous Sonic Forces. Sonic Frontiers is love letter to the fans, and the updates made it even 10 times better. When I say 10 times, I am not joking. It is genuinely a great game to play. We are also back on the rails. Sonic Frontiers is great, we got a decent netflix show that is sky rocketing in netflix, we are getting Sonic movie 3 which will be inspired by legendary game SA2, we got finally a great mobile game and WE are getting sonic super games in future with also remakes of great past games in near future. Sonic is cool again and I love it.

That sadder part is that despite Sonic fans rallying EVERYONE literally trying to promote their games like it’s the only game on the planet, while a huge part of genshin players didn’t even vote because “reasons” and still lost. Lmao really, Nahida was just released and everyone was too busy to care for TGA, even when the controversy went kaboom a lot of genshin players didn’t even vote because most genshin players have a love and hate relationship with genshin 😅. What I meant is that a lot of players loves their main characters than the game itself. But man each character has their fucking communities, Sonic probably made the Lumine fans super mad when they made that picture where lumine was killed bloody by a sonic character. That was fucked up really, I mean genshin has its own toxic and degenerate side but man I have never ever seen such disgusting bloody imagery on our forums. This really made me realize how out of this world deranged an extreme sonic player is. I feel sorry for the normal people though but man I kinda have a little bit hatred for such a good game like sonic because it successfully created one of the worst type of people in the gaming community.

To this day, 3 years later, I still can't decide what is more pathetic - The most rotten part of the two communities (Genshin and Sonic) still fighting over this Games Award, which wasn't even that relevant because it's the Players Voice category, and it's not the first time that this category has been robbed. - Toxic people (both communities) attacking people who had nothing to do with that, and even attacking people who only tried to calm the situation (which was escalating on that one toxic social media). - Some Genshin Fans treating this as a huge achievement, and some Sonic Fans being extremely dramatic about it. That's not even pathetic (I think), it's just funny. Oh it's more than a mobile game, the quality of genshin is actually pretty high, it's that of a triple A game honestly. The art, music and lore are absolutely amazing, the story and combat are decent and getting better. The microtransactions dont even hinder your ability to enjoy the game, you can completely ignore the Gacha element and still have so much shit to do. The only thing behind a paywall in this game is character skins of which there are only 6 at the moment, the rest of the stuff in Genshin you can just get for free. I havent spent a dime on this game but I've gotten so much value over the past 8 months.

Thats really a pity... The story the ongoing work, the events, the characters, the exploration... I have Sonic frontiers but Genshin... Man, literally you complete Sonic frontiers and thats all but Genshin is every month giving more content like story, new places to explore, new characters to know, more enemies and bosses, new gamemodes, new events... And Sonic Frontiers is good but... Guys, when you have seen a free Game with so many new ongoing work and content for month? It's hard to imagine Genshin losing to Sonic. It's free, offers open world exploration, cool graphics, cool and beautiful music, new contents every 3~6 months, cool character and weapon designs, wide selection of characters and playstyle, lots of challenges, support multi-player with cross platform, big community, many popular voice actors, deep lore, new event every 2 weeks, and you can play musical instruments in-game. There are lots of features like island and house designing, TCG and hide-and-seek event. The map is really big, you can tell that the landscapes, plants, and building structures are distinctively different from one country to another. You can also explore underground which goes very, very deep. Most playable characters have their own story event so they don't seem static at all. Each character has their own unique abilities: shortening assigned exploration time, boosts cooking, gives discount, lowering stamina consumption on activities, reduce prices, boosts fishing, exploration skills (flying, summoning stairs/elevator, running on water, short distance teleport, detecting resources, picking up resources from afar).
